'Cause I set up shop on a ScEa server by a Parasaur spawn point and I frequently ran into tek raptors and parasaurs full of dust, scrap metal and electronics. I did the same thing when I transferred my tribe to a Rag server, building in an available spot near a stego spawn -- Tek stegos galore.
Once upon a time, the male megaloceros was a really handy cave mount. Size, bleed damage, and it tanks ALL damage from airborne attacks. Rider takes zero damage. Great aoe on its attack as well
They were our go to mount for the dragon on release because we were protected from dimo dmg. ~200% fab pistols for dmg on the dragon and a Carbo in a cheese spot that rarely took dmg but held the dragons aggro. Ark is hilariously broken sometimes.
I once took a whole pack of Direwolves to a cave back on the Island, during my first attempt. I left three in the first cavern, then walked back out to get the last two stragglers. Upon reentering, the first three were gone. I quickly walked out to see if they'd somehow been ejected back outside. I found nothing, but when I returned, I discovered the two I'd just led in had disappeared as well. I tried the cave solo and failed miserably. Fast forward a week and a half, where this time, I'm using a Bary and two descent level Onyc on follow. I slaughter my way through, eventually winding up in the lowest area with a deep pool at the bottom. At that point, I notice a familiar pack of wolves ripping apart piranhas in said pool. I don't know why, but my wolves had clipped through the first chamber and fell to the deepest part of the cave.
God I love when that happens. I once lost a beast of a sarco pretty early in my game while mining metal at the top of one of the more central mountains. I assumed it died or clipped under the map and so I mourned and moved on. About a few days to a week later I go back with a flying mount for another mining trip, when I see its name tag on the side of the mountain fighting off a group of allosauruss’ and my jaw just dropped. Unfortunately me trying to intervene and help ended up getting my sarco killed. R.I.P. Sally. But man the rush you get when you find your lost mount is pretty wild. Especially a whole pack of wolves like you did.
@@liamleonard9120 Oh, so you wanna talk about _sarcos._ Same playthrough, I was still on the beach. Had a 120 sarco and was using him to ferry near the eastern swampland for a female. Cue the alpha meg that spawned offshore. I knew between me and the croc, it was fish food. That said, I would only slow him down. So, early game me being the idiot that I was jumped off and let the croc keep the big fucker busy. Cue the other shark I didn't see and the quick death that ensued. What followed was an hour and a half of circling and biting that resulted in six dead megs, a severely bloodied alpha meg and me losing a fantastic crocodile.

I used to park a pack of wolves in a cave, rather than driving them back and forward. During a server reboot they fell through. Definitely an issue to be aware of.
I totally expected the rock drake to be at number one. Anytime they fit, a camouflaged one can just walk and glide to the end without taking aggro. Great video! You're really figuring out your format.
Thing is they don't fit in most caves and even if they do they likely need ti be cryopoded multiple times to get past cergain areas to reach the artifact.

@@GoGoOnGordon Rock Drake is bigger than any of the dinos listed here and a Baryonyx would be indisputably, in general the best cave tame. It has a narrow stance, can jump, swim, an arsenal of attacks and is not too lean in any category. Few tames if any can boast this amount of utility under specific circumstances.
I'm definitely late to the party with Ark, always a game I had my eyes on but sadly I only started playing probably 6 months ago. I'm glad these videos are still relevant, I would have barely any idea what I'm doing without them.
I, personally, have two favorite animals for caving: the Bloodstalker (while large, it can climb on walls and fit through almost any area, and it has the web ability, giving the ability to simply skip through parkour) and the Beelzebufo (a huge leaping ability, and a small size. Not only that, but it deals extra damage to insects.)
For the big aberration cave I typically go in with a rock drake and just keep it invisible the entire time so that nothing agarose and I can just grab the artifact and go
yall shouldve voted ferox, can take anywhere on shoulder, extremely powerfully fully addicted, can do the climb thing like a deinon, can have helmets for a lot of extra armor, has a projectile and aoe attack if u need to engage from range/disengage and is able to throw creatures back if ur getting overwhelmed
@@stevenbrauner7507 easy to get on gen 2 and can be transferred back, same on extinction all that is required is to be around level 60-65 for the umstable element engram
Playing Fjordur now, basically the only map I play nowadays and the shadowmane is my go-to for caves due to most on the map being water filled and it's water buff comes in useful especially with the mate boost. Radiation can cause a little bit of an issue but use one of my aberrant tames and it works out.
I miss the Gigantophedicus! I often use them in the caves of The Island, like the lava cave. If you give it a mastercraft or even an ascendant flakhelmet, they're almost invincible against the creatures in the caves.
Yeah i used them on caves to, mine could even pvp, i like them alot, they cant climb but i find their jump the really good, great mobility and decent aoe.
@@Raasclark I don't agree with this list at all, Bary no1? its weak af. Bloodstalker should be no1 for its speed, there is not cave you can't clear with a Bloodstalker in under 20 seconds. Was this list made just for Island caves and with almost all dlc dino removed? There are much better dino than most of this list. Really the only good dinos on the list at all are the thylo that should really be no 10 and the meglosaur thats like a solid 5-10 depending on if breeding and at night. Did you just totally forget about Bloodstalkers, Enforcers, Rockdrakes, Ferox, Basalisk, Velo IE all the good dino. How the hell is Bary no 1 its best at nothing at all, has very poor hp and damage is quite slow and has a tiny aoe on its attack. There has been serious powercreep over the years map after map so i'am quite surprised any non dlc dino made it into a top 10 list at all. Lets see an unbread prim saddle Bary tackle North Snow or any of the harder caves in the game, its really a pretty weak early tame, not what I would consider a late game dino at all. There are no caves you can do on a Bary, Direwolf, Raptor ect that are not just as easy to do on foot.
My friend used to ride a baryonyx and clear out the land and water. And I would use a carbodemys (turtle thing) to transport me and my other friend cuz he would hop on the back while I drove.

Same. Also out of all of them I feel it’s also the easiest to handle in caves with its tight turn radius, small size, and insane jump. Lastly, it just looks the absolute coolest to mount ❤️. I intend to breed mine up as those qualities just make it worth overlooking its drawbacks to me. Cause ultimately once you breed a dino up. Any will work.

great informational video. I decided on a dire bear for my first caving tame. I want a dire wolf for the pack bonus but I don't have cold weather gear right now. I subscribed.
Bringing a good pump shotgun(100-150ish slugs), good fabricated sniper(100 bullets), good fabricated bow(50 metal arrows), and rocket launcher with 10 rockets seems to be good. Obviously a tek rifle if you have it. Shotgun for multiple enemies mid to close combat, bow to snipe out when theres few enemies, sniper to kill enemies afar before they get close such as bat swarms and annoying centepedes. Cryopods made going on foot obselete for most caves though because you can now get mounts inside caves where they didn't fit before. On the island for instance only cave you have to go through on foot and use guns inside is artifact of the skylord cave but it only has bats and spiders so not very dangerous, listed weapons are more than enough. Edit: good obviously meaning mastecraft or acendant quality. Though if you find lesser quality with high damage% its good enough.
I think that velos are insane in caves specially if you’re not alone they destroy rock elements, snip bats , spiders , etc . I would say that if you are doing any cave in scrotch earth or the island , velos are the way to go , manas are also really good if they can fit in the caves , I think that manas are superior than rock drakes depending on the cave but if you are an early player the best way is to fly in the cave (when it’s possible ), go to another map because in some maps like crystal isles , ragnarock or valg artefacts are just so easy to get , or the last option will be to tame a thyca or a baryonix has mentioned in the video , even if i think that velos are superior giving you the ability to shoot and hit hard . Ps: you want to shoot the rockelem with your high damage velo so you can melt them try to avoid mele at all cost because you might get surrounded .
i think a blood stalker is really good for caving because of a resistance to onyc's targeting rider ability, im not sure why it has that but i think its because your under the stalker and not above so onycs hit from above and miss, you do get hit sometimes though its really rare, but you can be hit by onycs
Was genesis not out yet when this was made? Ferox is such a good caving mount. A bit on the big size, but you can just wait till he reverts back to small Ferox. You get high melee damage, great AOE and knockback, jumping, climbing, can use weapons when mounted, wears helmets for armor, and you get a nasty ranged attack in the form of a rock throw. You can even use veggie cakes for the harder caves since the Ferox is considered a herbivore. When on your shoulder you also get some great hypo/hyper insulation just like an otter.
Daeodon is also pretty good, better than saber and wolf i would argue with its better stats and quick healing. I tend to use my imprinted and mutated daeodon i bred for boss battles to get the artifact of immune on the island. I find killing the hundreds of high level meganura and other critters in the redwoods cave the fastest way to also level the player and the mount if it can handle being down there. Went from 123-135 in no time. Faster than grinders and mass crafting narcotics and obviously less annoying.
M8, I just freaking realized, because I finally took my dire wolves out, again; there is a saddle for them - I use Kraken’s Better Dinos, it provides a wolf saddle, I only forgot because I’ve been using Shadowmanes for everything. (Thank you to mods that spawn them on all maps.)
when I go for caves I use Argentavis. Flying quickly to the artifact, grab it and run away. Avoiding fights most of the time and also saving some time.
So no Raptor? I'm quite surprised since I have completed quite a few caves on a back of a Raptor but granted these were definitely some pretty hard challenges that I had to do but when I first started off and didn't really know much I completed a lot of caves with the Raptor
My list not in order because it depends on the cave: Megalosaurus; baryonyx; thylacleo; megatherium; sabre tooth and direbear; Rex; therizino; velonosaur and rockdrake
@@suisiders7181 If you wear an otter on your shoulder and ride the dire bear, you can negate the temperature effects in most caves. Perfect caving combo with the high weight on the bear and the otter's unlimited artifact ability. Don't even need armor.
What about doing a Dino showcase for example taking the Dinopithacus and showcasing how it disables tech and what that looks like on both sides so throwing the poop grenades at the person in tech then showing the point of view of the person in tech suit getting hit by the grenade and being disabled. Or how you should use the Amargasaurus in PVP properly things like that
for island thylo is my main but each cave has a best dino to use imo i always go for thylo frog yutty barry for back up the piggies can be really good to but i think they are best to leave at ur base to passive lvl up and take em with u in a cryo pod incase u need some big heals i carry a couple with me all the time is great for topping off in mid cave run if needed

I figured there's alot of noobs like me who log on ark who are lost on what maps to travel to (i play on official) and in what order (or what i should be prioritizing) so i can beat the game accordingly and ascend? (I play on official Valguero, and I've beated the bosses on alpha but I don't know what map to travel to or what to do next to unlock other tek stuff and to reach level 130+... just some examples im lost on. maybe this can be a long video or multiple videos? love your content, please consider... thanks.

Megatheriums are unstoppable in most caves, I have one with 18,000 health that does 1300 damage when bug boosted. Really underrated creature imo.

I was wondering how Beelz did in caves. Been looking for some 150s to breed up but no luck.
@@PoochMG It's great for farming cem paste. I went into a bug cave on Fjordur, Don't think I'll ever need to get cem paste again.

great informational video. I decided on a dire bear for my first caving tame. I want a dire wolf for the pack bonus but I don't have cold weather gear right now. I subscribed.
A video on best weapons for caves might be useful. I always can’t decide which guns to bring, especially when on foot.
Bringing a good pump shotgun(100-150ish slugs), good fabricated sniper(100 bullets), good fabricated bow(50 metal arrows), and rocket launcher with 10 rockets seems to be good. Obviously a tek rifle if you have it. Shotgun for multiple enemies mid to close combat, bow to snipe out when theres few enemies, sniper to kill enemies afar before they get close such as bat swarms and annoying centepedes. Cryopods made going on foot obselete for most caves though because you can now get mounts inside caves where they didn't fit before. On the island for instance only cave you have to go through on foot and use guns inside is artifact of the skylord cave but it only has bats and spiders so not very dangerous, listed weapons are more than enough.
Edit: good obviously meaning mastecraft or acendant quality. Though if you find lesser quality with high damage% its good enough.
I love thylas, helped me get through so many times. They arent terrible swimmers either
Something nobody seems to ever mention for caving is the daeodon. Works great for a lot of caves
I think that velos are insane in caves specially if you’re not alone they destroy rock elements, snip bats , spiders , etc . I would say that if you are doing any cave in scrotch earth or the island , velos are the way to go , manas are also really good if they can fit in the caves , I think that manas are superior than rock drakes depending on the cave but if you are an early player the best way is to fly in the cave (when it’s possible ), go to another map because in some maps like crystal isles , ragnarock or valg artefacts are just so easy to get , or the last option will be to tame a thyca or a baryonix has mentioned in the video , even if i think that velos are superior giving you the ability to shoot and hit hard .
Ps: you want to shoot the rockelem with your high damage velo so you can melt them try to avoid mele at all cost because you might get surrounded .

Vultures and Dimos are also great for just doing raw damage pair them up with any of these and you’re golden

i think a blood stalker is really good for caving because of a resistance to onyc's targeting rider ability, im not sure why it has that but i think its because your under the stalker and not above so onycs hit from above and miss, you do get hit sometimes though its really rare, but you can be hit by onycs

I think at the moment Desmodus is the best. Otter is great to, you can give him/her an infinit number of artifact and its awsome

Why not the gigantopithecus? It can have crazy high armor if you have a good helmet and it has great melee, jump, and it can climb zip lines.

On mobile the dire wolf is the best for caves because you can put a helmet on them allowing you to take a quick cheap high endurance helmet on them
Baryonyx and Dire Wolf are the 2 best for caves
Was genesis not out yet when this was made? Ferox is such a good caving mount. A bit on the big size, but you can just wait till he reverts back to small Ferox. You get high melee damage, great AOE and knockback, jumping, climbing, can use weapons when mounted, wears helmets for armor, and you get a nasty ranged attack in the form of a rock throw. You can even use veggie cakes for the harder caves since the Ferox is considered a herbivore. When on your shoulder you also get some great hypo/hyper insulation just like an otter.
The new Dinopithecus is awesome. Climbing and jumping abilities and cave creatures won't attack at all. It's a little op honestly.

Daeodon is also pretty good, better than saber and wolf i would argue with its better stats and quick healing. I tend to use my imprinted and mutated daeodon i bred for boss battles to get the artifact of immune on the island. I find killing the hundreds of high level meganura and other critters in the redwoods cave the fastest way to also level the player and the mount if it can handle being down there. Went from 123-135 in no time. Faster than grinders and mass crafting narcotics and obviously less annoying.
My dire bear is hittin for almost 400 per hit in the caves wild-tamed. Hasn't been north of 100 torpor once. Dudes a tank.
surprised to not see the frog, as it is a slightly weaker but much smaller megatherium, especially useful in the bug infested caves
M8, I just freaking realized, because I finally took my dire wolves out, again; there is a saddle for them - I use Kraken’s Better Dinos, it provides a wolf saddle, I only forgot because I’ve been using Shadowmanes for everything. (Thank you to mods that spawn them on all maps.)
when I go for caves I use Argentavis. Flying quickly to the artifact, grab it and run away. Avoiding fights most of the time and also saving some time.

Direwolf not having a saddle in my opinion is one of the coolest things both efficient and aesthetic wise

So no Raptor? I'm quite surprised since I have completed quite a few caves on a back of a Raptor but granted these were definitely some pretty hard challenges that I had to do but when I first started off and didn't really know much I completed a lot of caves with the Raptor

You forget the pig when going with tribe mate, invincible pack of pig, small, agile, health regen, and a saddle, perfect for caving

Bear as cave creature is very underrated, sadly it can not jump but it kills everything on most islands caves
Just found an Ascendent Dire Bear saddle and wasn't gonna use it. But y'all have convinced me to try out the Dire Bear for caves now.
@@suisiders7181 If you wear an otter on your shoulder and ride the dire bear, you can negate the temperature effects in most caves. Perfect caving combo with the high weight on the bear and the otter's unlimited artifact ability. Don't even need armor.

I had great luck with a high level dire wolf caving until I tried to get him out again. They don't do vertical jumps well

Most people call every creature a dino in ark, whether it’s a mammal or not
My favorite caves is the cave of the depths, cause glowtails spawn there, and the entrance is easy to defend
What about doing a Dino showcase for example taking the Dinopithacus and showcasing how it disables tech and what that looks like on both sides so throwing the poop grenades at the person in tech then showing the point of view of the person in tech suit getting hit by the grenade and being disabled. Or how you should use the Amargasaurus in PVP properly things like that
i use a dire wolf for the south cave so i can speedrun it without hopping off and baryonyx for some others that can fit the bary where the artifact is
for island thylo is my main but each cave has a best dino to use imo i always go for thylo frog yutty barry for back up the piggies can be really good to but i think they are best to leave at ur base to passive lvl up and take em with u in a cryo pod incase u need some big heals i carry a couple with me all the time is great for topping off in mid cave run if needed

Can you please make a comprehensive video of what Caves (what kind of stats and dinos i need) and Bosses to do in Order? I figured there's alot of noobs like me who log on ark who are lost on what maps to travel to (i play on official) and in what order (or what i should be prioritizing) so i can beat the game accordingly and ascend? (I play on official Valguero, and I've beated the bosses on alpha but I don't know what map to travel to or what to do next to unlock other tek stuff and to reach level 130+... just some examples im lost on. maybe this can be a long video or multiple videos? love your content, please consider... thanks.

Honestly, rhinos are the best caving mounts, They're fast, they can climb surfaces and they hit like trains :D

I think andrews are good for most caves, since you can avoid rabies from bats and you get a ranged attack
