I love it when you say, "thats ok" when something doesn't work. this is where I tend to get discouraged and overwhelmed, but when I hear you say this, it is so calming and a good reminder that this is a process and it can take time. Thank you!

This was a neat idea!!🤩 It showed me what I could do with playing cards also. I ordered some vintage things from Etsy once and it was old childhood game pieces, cards from games, actual board game box pieces and book pages. I had fun just arranging them and and placing them into a ( Junk Journal as I call it🤩 ) Journal like they were. They had so much character and were so much fun to to look at like that were😊!! I had fun doing it as a New Crafter🤩!! This video just showed me what else to do with items like that and dress them up, thanks Gayle 🤗!!

Oh my gosh! I only sent the cards to you about two weeks ago, and here you are, already tackling my request. Thank you so very much, Gayle! So many wonderful ideas, and the cards turned out great. I especially liked your coffee-dyed backing assembly line. I will no longer be intimidated by the cards in my stash. The Family Life card is from an unopened game I found at a thrift shop (just $1.99, I think). It's called "Life Times: 1950's edition", and is chock-full of great 50's photos (I'm pretty sure I know where some of these are going). Again, thank you for all the creativity you share. I'm looking forward to part two.

Hi from the new lady on the block! :) Of course, being new to journaling, I have no ephemera :( I went through my leftover scrapbooking papers and found the ones with all-over prints et al birds, stamps, mini postcards and in my gift wrap selection I discovered a group of butterflies (called a "kaleidoscope" of butterflies amongst other names for them) My husband collects board games, sometimes he picks up ones in second-hand stores to get pieces that he needs to make a complete game. I asked if he had any cards leftover I could have. He gave me a deck of older playing cards, and also two mini decks (that we buy for traveling, hospital, etc) that looked brand new. I felt guilty about using brand new decks!! (I am very frugal) He said he had just unwrapped them and counted them and both decks were short one card. A habit of his because a lot of the board games he buys second-hand are short pieces. So note to all of you, when you buy new cards.......count them!! Keep your receipt whether it be for you or a gift. It is no big deal if it is from the dollar store or a second-hand store, but I have seen decorative cards that are priced over the $30 mark. Anyway thanks for the tips on cards, I am making all kinds of ephemera with things I have around the house and in my craft room. I have done many kinds of crafts over my many years, LOL. However, this is my first attempt at making journals, Thank you for all your great ideas and your thoughts that create new ideas in my strange mind.....LOL

When I find cute cards like the travel one you had, I gesso on the # side lightly so I can journal on it and still have the playing card image on other side. I also lightly sand the shinny off at least the one side, sometimes both. Also Starbucks cardboard cozy’s they put on warm drinks has cardboard already for your crafts! No removal of paper required!

Those are so cute! Awwww the little girl stole my heart, is a beautiful drawing, she look so agelic.will be interesting to know what family games you like when you were little and now that you have a family on your own. Mine when I was little was Manacala we used to play it a lot with my dad and then when a Huracán Maria came we play Scrabble and it was sooooooo fun, he is the best in that. Then with my nephews and nieces is "Who am I"! and Monopoly. We can't play Uno we fight a lot XD. My twin and I enyoy together a lot of games, we play everything if we understand it.

Aww these are so fun, Gayle! I need to go watch some older videos to see about the ‘sewing on a mirror‘ and where you are going on vacation. Work has been SUPER busy this last week or so, it always is crazy after the 4th, and then again after Labor Day. Clint has been making ink blenders as he has time, we tend to have 30 on the list, at all times, sometimes it’s hard to fit everything all in. I was thinking you should put a tag or something on the spine of your ephemera books, you could put something permanent, but i imagine over the months your items inside would change, if you did a tag, you could put ‘mushrooms, butterflies, labels’ then do a do one if your items change, just a thought. You always make me laugh! Big hugs! Chelle

Gayle, if you don’t want jars, like mod podgy to stick. Just rub Vaseline on the top before closing it. That way you won’t have to deal with the bulk. The Vaseline works for about 5 opens and shuts, and then just apply it again.

Hey Gayle, I saw you were having issues with the paper sticking to the cards because of the coating they put on them. Maybe try doing a light sanding on the side you plan on adhering the paper to. It'll remove some of that coating and allow the glue to cling better. You can get a cheap sanding block at almost any dollar store or you could use a nail file.

The paper is sticking for now, but eventually the plastic will dry and then peel off. Cards should be sanded before using. But, I guess if you are going to sew them, then that should work. I did a whole pack of cards one night. Everything was sticking just fine. 3 days later, they all lifted and I was left with plastic coated paper.
