- in this video I will show you guys how to install a transmission temp gauge in the 700r4 transmission in my k5 blazer. this is a must for any 700r4 transmission as they are know to fry with excess heat.
That is definitely a clean looking install!!! Nice work man!!
thanks!
@myles2go. I'm going to be picking up a 1992 GMC pickup. I'll definitely be saving this as a guide!
@ good luck with the purchase. they really are great trucks.
I've been working on cars since the eighties, its always nice to learn something new. Great idea on splicing the rubber hose the way you did. I actually took notes.
Thks
Great tutorial!...answered a lot of concerns I had about installing my own tranny gauge kit....the task wouldn't be complete without scattered tools...LOL😁!
glad i could help! you are definitely right about the tools....
I don't like to cut flow with that my doge would be on side of road screening lmao
I have the same set up on my Grand National but a 200r4… so you put the sensor in the line that goes into the top of the external cooler correct? Is it gonna matter that it already has gone through the radiator cooler to reflect accurate temps? I’d much rather splice into the rubber if I can
I prefer to install them before the radiator so that you get the most accurate temp reading from what is coming out of the transmission. you can disconnect the hard line from the radiator and then slide a rubber hose over the hard line and then get another fitting that threads into the radiator and has a barb sticking out. then just fit the other end of the hose onto that fitting in the radiator and you have a rubber line that you can splice the temp sensor into without cutting anything factory.
If I remember correctly, you can just put the transmission in low and the dash should clear.
I know it's an old video but can you tell me the PN for the temp gauge plan on adding one in my 90 k5
Did it read the temp correct?
yes, I checked it with an IR gun.
Can the sender wire be positive or negative or is it a specific wire?
It is a specific wire that goes to a spade connector on the back of the gauge I'm using. The other end of it connects to the probe. It is neither positive nor negative. Hope that helps
That looks more like an 81 not a 91....didnt even make a 91..smh
Lmao, do you even know these trucks at all? Pay close attention to the grille design. 1991 was the Blazer's and Suburban's last year, then in 1992 they switched to the GMT400 platform.
@@firstnamelastname2468 aparently u dont cuz the headlights are from the old model
