Next time when filming stand back further to give a better view of the whole plant and area.. thank you. .love the videos ...learning alot from Paul. He thinks the way I've been thinking. The other typical educators make me scratch my head and ask "why, it makes no sense." So glad Paul is in touch with the Creator. I appreciate his free teaching. This is the way it should be. Interesting...I expected Paul to prune the vines more. Few years back,here at my wife's grandmother's house we had about 1m(3ft) snow.Because of this and the really cold winder a lot of the vines got damaged either by the snow(braking branches),or the low temperatures.In spring the old lady said that we have no choice but to remove all the broken and dead branches ,and lower the number of buds on the live ones.So we prune it a lot and left only 2-3 buds on each branch.And that same year we had lesser grapes,but they were so big,that the old lady decided that we prune the same way each year.And each year from there on we had nice big grapes.But we another issue we continue to have is that they tend to get fungi issues.Thus a lot of them turn brown and die out.

One of his videos he did mention that Dr's can find nothing wrong . He says it is from agent orange from Nam. He also says it is only temporary and no worries ..Such an inspiration

Question to Paul...I saw his grape already had some knobs but he was still pruning, video's taught you to prune in midst of cold when the plant is not active otherwise risking it to sapped (to death if cute to much)...but saw him cut even very big branches...so guess it's not hurting the grapevine at all..wonder what advice he has when it already started to grow if still can prune

@L2Survive Serious question: i know Paul likes to mimic nature. I'm just wondering why he chose to trellis his vines and not grow them up a tree trunk. Is there a difference? I just bought a grape vine and I am still deciding where to plant it.

I asked him this question one time and I think the answer ended up being, because I wanted to. I know he likes his trees open so the grapes would have blocked him from getting inside the branches. He didn't really trellis his grapes but, he planted them next to the fence and that is the way they chose to grow. The wood pile behind the grapes acts like a heat sink and creates a great micro climate for the grapes. If you look at my property, on the left side of the yard there are five cottonwood trees. We get a lot of logs with our woodchips and I was thinking about stacking them between the two left trees then planting our grapes in front of the wood kind like Paul does.

question, how does Paul deal with new vines that just took root? I planted a vine that supposedly grows only in worm climates and is taking off. How do I know what to cut when is only 8 inches tall? Should I leave it to get taller? Should I cover it when is still so small?

Paul prunes the dead vines and vines that are going where he doesn't want them to grow. Personally, I would leave them alone for now and see where they go, you can always cut them later.

Renee Kincaid I’ve driven a T-post next to a wood post to help shore the wood post up. The post had sunk and leaned a bit in. I couldn’t replace it with ease because it was supporting fence and a one corner of a trellis ( too much to move). My son pulled the wooden post straight while I drove the T-post in beside it. Actually worked out great for the fence and trellis.
