This is an old Classic. One of the best guitartones ever. Thanks to Udo , Skaboosh , Jun626 and early Solodallas i learnt everything about that classic guitarsound. I love this! Edit - theres some relly old ones mixed in here. So good, unrivalled tones in those old videos.
Exquisite tones and playing throughout. I wish I could find details on the Wetzel overdrive pedal online, it sounds amazing paired with the Tremolux. Thanks Udo. Looking forward to your next video. 👍
Sleepy Time 🤩 .. spot on, you spent a lot of time with Cream, didnt you ? I did.. Just great... the Whole Lotta Love though.. the rhythm track wasnt all downstroke, only when played live - on the album there was palm muting low E string, with up/downstroking - sounds completely different
Thank you Tomas! Regarding Whole lotta... you're absolutely right. But I cannot play it like that :-) Up/downstroking sounds better. I love that, but it's tricky :-)
@@udopipper6358 Here we go .. this is the original master tape track.. no Marshall, the 1966 Vox UL4120.. ua-cam.com/video/Ks7ovOW3nWg/v-deo.html When he plays open g string in the riff, it was all intentional - there was no sloppy playing in studio by JPP :) and the G sharp at the end is a nice touch.. buried in the mix
Dear Udo, the tone on that Betts/Toler Sleepytime (solo performance) has haunted me for a decade... If you would remember any details about the gear and mics I would pay money for that! Actually, you always have "real" sounding tones, maybe you could do a video about how you like record and capture these awesome sounding guitars and amps.
Thank you! Everything was very easy. The Betts/Toler Les Paul was recorded with an Neumann U57 valve mic in a big room with two room mics 20 feet away. Amp volume was on about 8 of 10. Cranked it tended to sound muddy. Treble and mid 6, bass 3, presence I cannot remember. Speakers had been quite recent celestion G12/25 Reissues in a 68 Cabinet. I used Gibson Britewire (?) nickle strings (10s) and a Cordial cable. The Marshall was from 65 and a PA model. Quite dark sounding amp. The guitar was excellent as was the amp and the room. It was recorded with a valve desk without any effects except a little reverb (lexicon 480L) into Pro Tools. That's it. :-) Aaaahhh! The engineer knew what to do. He his great.
@@udopipper6358 thank you for your answer! I’ve always though that the room and the room mics had a big effect on that sound. Close mic and added reverb can work, but it won’t get that complex sound. Thank you sir!
Toll!
Danke Udo und liebe Grüsse aus Kiel!👍
Geniale Soundzusammenstellung, grandios gefühlvoll gespielt- einfach TOLL!!!
Volltreffer!

Sehr schöne Sounds dabei Udo. Der JTM45 gefällt mir sehr. Liebe Grüße. Carsten ✌🏼
Great guitarist.. tone!
Lieber Udo!

Check with Udo directly for the Wetzel....
@@bigbossman4547 thanks.
my favorite is at the 4:02 mark...that throaty, barking sound is absolute killer!
Ex Dickey Betts 58er goldtop ist das.
As the years go passing by. Sogar die Dickey Betts "Goldtop" war dabei.
Are those original pafs in the jager historic or aftermarket paf style pickups?

If I remember correctly the JTM45 impedance was set to 8 ohms with a 16 ohm cab?
No, the JTM had an 16 Ohm output and the cabinet 4 Ohms. This happened by accident because amp and cab belonged to a friend and I didn't know... :-)

They don't make them like they used too !
