Johnny she sounds absolutely Stellar!! I didn’t even get out of my seat for this one to get a drink! What a miracle god has done through you to get that beauty back together!! It doesn’t matter what the name of the preamp is. You got her playing amazingly!! We love you and the hobo depot and the queen! 🙏
Sounds great. And a lot of people would have shot this video wearing Crocs and sweatpants. Your sense of occasion "suits" such an alive sounding instrument.
Of course, you did a PHENOMENAL JOB RESTORING THIS BASS!!!!! It is absolutely GORGEOUS and STILL SOUNDS LIKE AN ALEMBIC and is a TONE MONSTER-LITERALLY!!! Phil Jones amps and cabs are AMAZING!!!
That sounds like no other Alembic. Wayyee more bottom and even tone as it sounds extremely versatile. This is the best work you've posted to date imo. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Bass is amazing but those shoes are beautiful, can't stop admiring your shoes, so much so that from this day forward I'll be the hunt for a pair. Excellent video bty, thank you
Hello Johnny : Great sound from that Alembic Short Scale! I'd like to try the Tone Monster Preamp in a Bass of mine. Which model did you install in that Alembic?
Are you sure this is a '73? Looks like late 70s or maybe early 80s to me... Bridge, tailpiece and logo are the "modern" versions (which they still use today) They first used those in the second half of the 70s (from around '77/'78 IIrc) And the early ones did not have a truss rod(s) cover, those appeared first around '76/'77. Also has the newer style Schaller tuners (screws on the side, older ones have them on the underside) Not sure when they changed that, but I had a '79 with the old style Schallers. Though I'm pretty sure I've seen some '78s with the newer style. Serial number is on the top of the headstock (early ones) or under the 24th fret (from the late 70's) First two digits is the year it was made. I ordered my new Series II with plastic backplates, great way to take off some of the weight indeed! (mine is a 5 string, with Europa body/headstock shape and is a little over 12 pounds) Great playing and looks awesome!
Btw: Die hard Alembic fan here and I agree with you on the preamp. If the original stuff is wrecked, it can be extremely difficult to get it to work 100% again. Best (maybe only) option would be to send it back to Alembic, which can (don't have to, depending on the work needed) get very expensive. Plus, for optimal result you would have to send the whole bass to them and will it will be out of yer playing hands for a long time... (which would be a shame) Well deserved like! :-)
When Mark King sees this video he'll want to buy that bass off you! It has all his sounds and more. Shame you can't find any decent socks to wear Mr Long.
Everytime i see you sitting on that bench i freak out that youre gonna fall through those flexible slats and damage yourself and whatever bass your holding.... 😵💫😮

Good job ! Looking great,..nice suit Bro.
Amazing work!
Amazing work and excellent restoration. Is it still a Alembic ? Sure sounds like one.
Wow, incredible sound...
I would give anything to own that bass. How could it be so abused? I'd keep it in a flight case. You did an amazing job!
Timbre espetacular este contrabaixo,.🇧🇷
You had me E open!
Alembic uses a resonant lowpass filter preamp. Check out the j-tex distiller preamp if you want the alembic sound.
Sound like u stuck in a time warp. That Bass is fire 🔥 alive & kicking. The Alembic sound cannot compete
Johnny lee! New subscriber here. Love your style. We may have to gofund you a new bench, but I'm with man.
Lol new bench...love u

She sounds good Johnny. I was hoping you would break out in some Stanley Clarke, playing an Alembic.

What u don't like my sock
@@LONGCASTLE777 because of his lack of taste, obviously.
Ok it's the Mark King type sound I hear coming out that bass. I knew it sounded familiar
This video is fantastic. Would love to know what the preamp is, but the sound is also fantastic in passive mode.
This is my favorite video you've created. Awesome.
Ah, it's a Tone Monster. Just got to that part.
Me pregunto si este hermano se arregla se pone trajeado para hacer estos videos o asi viste siempre exelente bajo thanks brother Johnny
"It ain't got no hown innit " 👍
Sounds amazing, one of the best-sounding (the best?) basses I’ve heard you play. What model/type of Kent Armstrongs are in it Johnny?
Everytime i see you sitting on that bench i freak out that youre gonna fall through those flexible slats and damage yourself and whatever bass your holding.... 😵💫😮
sounds like Lopsy Lu waas in there at the beginning a litttle bit
I am pretty sure that I know that preamp and I ain't mad. :)
Yeah, I want to buy that base. What’s the price on that bass.?
