    That single parametric tone control is so versatile and simple, more bass builders should adopt it.

    • @Hndsmstrngr1
      @Hndsmstrngr1 Рік тому +1

      It's not a parametric. He's mistaken has a low pass filter as you turn it down it cuts off more and more of the top end and in the middle of this week there's also some filtering going on where does act like a Wawa. I have an Alembic Spyder bass. One major difference is it as the Olympic style single coil and each pickup has its own low-pass filter for starters

    Had a chance to pick up that same Alembic bass model a few years ago and I snoozed. And I loosed. Still kicking my own butt for that one. They are so cool. Thanks for posting this, Johnny.

    Alembic Persuader was the first bass guitar that I bought new.Most players have to grow into it; it has to grow into you.

  • @sp4gsus
    @sp4gsus 6 років тому +6

    My persuader was my main bass for 20 years, tuned down a whole step. I added another j pickup right next to the bridge pickup for a little more beef and I added a standard tone control which toggled with the parametric. Then I started playing 5s and 6s and my poor alembic sat in the case unplayed for years until....I had the frets taken out and now it's my super hip fretless!

    If somebody wants to balance the output on two pickups, it's a matter of spending some time with a screwdriver to adjust the heights of each one.
    On the other hand, some other players might actually like the volume difference! So play what you like, and play it how you like it.

    • @LONGCASTLE777
      @LONGCASTLE777  6 років тому

      Eric Kleefeld true statement,,yet adjusting The rear pickup don't work on this bass the rear pickup has low out.put,yet Alembic do have a pot u can buy to even both pickup level...about $150

    • @stephenstrings
      @stephenstrings 6 років тому

      Another solution would be to wire the precision dominos in parallel rather than series. This would reduce the neck pickup volume and also make it brighter because of the reduced self-inductance. As you say bringing the bridge pickup closer to the strings will help.

    That’s the problem with the P/J configuration. Something about the wiring in multiple-pup non selector switch guitars and basses is wonky. Personally I like the sound of the P and of the J but not the sound of the P and the J blended together because one looses signal.
