Spent a lot of time on the flight deck of the uss enterprise as a red shirt "Ordnanceman" in the 80's. What an unforgettable experiance. I still think of it daily 30 years later.
We fabricated all of the haul components at the company I retired from. From bow to stern, port to starboard, for 78 and 79. The service life is designed for fifty years. It was a good job to work on.
I too served in the USNavy from 1978 to 1982 aboard the USS Midway stationed in Japan. My next assignment was aboard the USS Bruten(?) FF1086 fast frigate placed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. I would certainly have enjoyed serving more time in our USN. But I was discharged OTH. My fault for having to leave. So Thank you for allowing me to share, if even a little bit, of my experiences.
