Grew up watching Danny Kaye. His talent has brought me laughter throughout my life. What couldn’t he do ?! Dance sing act and one of the best comedians ever !! I truly miss all the classic movies and artists. Sadly nothing today can compare. The vast majority of today’s movies and artists are one huge bore ! I’ll take the classics over today any day. Ty Danny for all the joy and laughter you’ve given me throughout 60 yrs and counting.
He was a very talented actor, he was a fabulous dancer and musician, his talents were endless, rest in peace Danny Kaye thank you so much for wonderful memories.
One of the most legendary actors to have ever performed. I grew up watching his mastery portrayal of the storyteller Hans Christian Andersen. Additionally his collaboration with Bing Crosby in White Christmas was superb. Let’s of course not forget his interpretation of The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty either. Danny Kaye is different than most actors in that his talent is not only to bring the characters which he plays to life but to give them an embodiment through his own essence. He can sing, make you laugh and even downright cry through his performances. As a side note my Uncle is a chef and had the pleasure of cooking for Danny Kaye......my only gripe was “why didn’t you get his autograph Uncle!!?!?” Forever immortalized and never to be forgotten the one and only Danny Kaye. I honestly think you said it best while playing the Inspector General: “Brodny To The Sky”
Hans Christian Anderson was my introduction to Danny Kaye, and my family watches White Christmas every year. I still think his best movie though is The Court Jester. After several viewings that movie still cracks me up.
Classic Danny Kaye! I actually have the honor of being the last person to appear on screen with him ... sort of! In the movie "Pals" (George C. Scott and Sylvia Sydney) I was a salesman in a TV store, and this was playing at the time.
At drinks in Melbourne, while talking with guests and the Press taking photographs, Danny Kaye drank his usual Apple Cider Vinegar. Quite an Artist and knew how to work the room. After the Press had all departed, he ordered a different drink. His knowledge of how fickle the public were, had him drinking Cider Vinegar. Parents would think him to be of character, that parents wouldn’t want their children’s entertainer to drink alcohol, so he abstained, and was always aware of how quickly alcohol can ruin a reputation. That’s something we do not see these days. Great movie. Thank-you.
@@jkthedudeman That's true. I know he was well respected by his peers. He must have been a joy to work with! He really makes me laugh out loud and leaves me with an overall feeling of well being.
Not sure kaye was Underrated...The Guy Reached GLITTERING heights in The 40s and 50s...Highly regarded by The British Public as his live shows were Massively popular.
He wasn't underrated whatsoever. He had a marvelous life, loved children, children's causes and felt he was the luckiest man alive. That showed in all his work. He made the kids laugh and adults with sheer delight.
This were the movies when the whole family whas whatching and laughing together :-)) Thank you Danny.. Thank you fore the amazing dreams you gift and the many many pain in ore stomach from laughing haha!! HERO
Danny Kaye was incredibly intelligent, a comic genius and truly gifted as an artist and raconteur, both onstage and off. He was a marvelous human being.

My favourite D.K. film was "The secret life of Walter Mitty" which I remember seeing as a boy. I am now 82. It starred Virginia Mayo who was also one of my early loves.
Ronald Strange thanks to my brother-in-law I was introduced to Danny Kaye when I was 20. Now I’m 27 and still love the movies, even have the five pennies, knock on wood and hans christian andersen on dvd.
Thanks for that. You may like to know that one of my all time favourite recordings is D.K. singing "I wonder who's kissing her now". Try it out. Several years' ago I had it played on a local radio station. Still love it. Rergards.
Ronald Strange I just listened to it, such a beautiful song! I’m in love with his soothing voice. If I have to pick one of my favorite songs from him it’s ”The best things happen while you’re dancing” from the White Christmas movie. Both the scene and the song is really one of my favorites:)
Relieved and delighted that you enjoyed one of my all-time favourites. Not sure whether it's available on the internet but if so, try Bing Crosby and my delicious Joan Fontaine in "The Emperor Waltz" which again, has been with me since I saw it as a young lad. Regards. Ronald.
Ronald Strange I found it! Wow Bing Crosby has a flawless and powerful singing voice, and the waltz makes me think of an Austrian movie from the 50s called Sissi, the young princess who married the emperor, have you seen it? In every ball scene this waltz is played. But I haven’t heard lyrics for it until now, it was very nice. It’s very nice to talk to someone with a shared interest, not many in my age are into old movies. /Céline
Remember, the pellet with the poison is in the vessel with the pestle. The flagon with the dragon holds the brew that is true. What about the chalice from the palace?
Danny Kaye reminds me of the late Robin Williams. There both funny, great at improv and can do different voices. One big difference. Kaye is a better singer/dancer and Williams can do more voices.
If you check around 4:55 and watch til 5:44 there is actually a bit of comedic symbolism there. The chain reaction of everyone slapping each other, starting from the mayor and ending with the farmer's goat shows how the abuse from the hierarchy eventually seeps down into the citizens and its animals. Not only was it a genius way to display government power and how it affects the people, but they did it in a way that was funny and easy to digest!
