Bob Hop both my parents loved and they were so beyond impressed and thankful for all the Tours of Duty he did with the USO to support our troops,!🇺🇲

I just ran across this and love the link name “Hutton Gluttons”. Well done! Whenever I watch a classic movie, I wait for Edith Head’s name to pop up in the credits. When I see it, I know it will be amazing. Eve Arden’s wardrobe was the best. My favorite line in this is “Mother’s Day is over, I’m out of here!”

I saw that show about the young guys who sold million dollar homes. " million dollar listing". One of the guys grandmother was Edith Head. She was still alive. I watched that show in the early 2000s. He was always with her. Her home was extravagant.

Betty Hutton singing & dancing parts always had great timing.
Gonna find M-G-M 1950, musical hit, Annie Get Your Gun, where she replaced a then finally fired, Judy Garland, as Annie Oakley, the famous Western sharpshooter & girlfriend of "Wild Bill" Hickcock, whom they supposedly had a child.

Richard Crenna played opposite her as the goofy high school student Walter Denton. The show moved to television in 1952. You can catch it on UA-cam. Louise Owen Betty wasn't the only one to become and alcoholic. There were many male and female actors from the silent era that actually died from liver disease. It's truly sad. When they are on top then not. On Google l just read her bio and it didn't mention her being an alcoholic. She did take prescription medication that she was addicted to. Read her bio. Just Google Betty Hutton and everything will pop up to read about her

@@theresaholguin699 I was a big Hutton fan. I've seen interviews and read a couple books on her. She became addicted to pills. Uppers and downers. Pills to get her going and pills to help her sleep. Betty's mother and sister were alcoholics. Her father deserted the family when she was young. She came from the slums of Michigan. Not the best life for a young girl. She only made 20 movies but she was one of my favorites from the 40s and 50s. If you get the chance watch her interview with Robert Osbourne in 2000 on TCM.

What a great supporting cast - Eve Arden, Zasu Pitts, Dave Willock ("Barney") - plus songs and contributions by Cole Porter, Dorothy Fields, Jules Styne, and Sammy Cahn!. I had to look up Porter's contribution, as I'd never heard of a musical with this theme by him. Apparently it was a hit on Broadway in 1941 under the title LET'S FACE IT, starring Danny Kaye (in the Bob Hope role), Eve Arden, Vivian Vance, and Nannette Fabray. The songs were pretty forgettable (by Porter standards, at least) and were eliminated from the film.

Back in the day, movie Big Cheeses didn't feel they had to credit every single person in a movie. Many ppl who eventually made it big can be spotted in uncredited roles. Many in the silent era. Perhaps the novice actors felt it was 'paying their dues' to be an extra or a one word speaking part. And the credits were mostly at the beginning before the movie itself starts. Today a movie will credit even someone who sneezes off camera. Getting so ridiculous that the credits @ the end of movies last almost as long as the film itself. I think its fun to spot ppl in an old movie before they became stars. Kinda like playing 'Where's Waldo! lol!

Not to be morbid or anything but sometimes when I watch a movie made during WW2 (especially early on like this one) in which there are many young men, I think about how so many of them most likely became real soldiers before it was all said & done. Then I wonder how many didn't make it back home. So many young men cut down, some even before they hit the true prime of their lives. And so many that came home but with mangled bodies (and minds) that would never be the same again. It's all too sad, then theres the fact that since then there has been 4 more wars. War is the shits.

Someone once said that Bob hope should entertain in the USA and bring all the troops to visit him. In other words we want our fighting g men back here! Also that when asked where he wanted to be buried he says surprise me.

Bob Hope. What a life. I believe that throughout his career he kept a mistress in every state to 'comfort' him while on his regular tours of the country. Always handy to have a devout Catholic for a wife. Blame her for not giving you a divorce. Love these films but showbiz is so phoney.

A very entertaining movie. I just discovered Betty Hutton and I'm watching everything. I don't like Bob Hope in an acting role because movies are just another vehicle for his stand-up. It's hard to be sympathetic to a guy who's cracking wise all the time. Having said that, the scene with the jeep, the horn, and the commanding officer was very funny.

Bob Hope was not a "comedian" in the classic sense. He delivered lines written by other people
