Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down X-men.

Episode 9 is now here and the penultimate entry sets up a lot. Throughout this video we're gonna go through the easter eggs, hidden details and things you might have missed. We'll also be talking our predictions for the future and what stories we think may be coming down the line. From everything I can gather Beau De Mayo has written season 2 and there are things that could be setting things up.

Now one thing we didn't point out in the intro of last week is that Professor X has finally returned. He of course crash landed on earth and this was teased by his addition to the credits. I know he was just there for a second but they haven't really liked giving away spoilers. This is why Nightcrawler didn't feature in his debut and X wasn't there when we saw him with the Shi'ar. Its only once they've appeared where they appear the next episode and yeah, good to see the guy back. I also love how they do something different every week and they really didn't have to cos its not like you were gonna skip this banger intro duhlul lulun.

ORIGINAL!! you mean the uncanny xmen costumes with morphs being from Exiles,
The original costumes are the navy and yellow when it was only Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Iceman and Angel. Best had no fur and Iceman looked like a snowman. Wolverine origial costumes was yellow. Blue and black with a more animal like look .
The only changes who changed in to their original costumes this episodes was Rogue.the reason why some of them changed was because their current customer where destroyed in the mansion
I think people are forgetting the fact that X-Men 97 is in the same MCU... That means there is a he who remains within the 97 universe.. the person controling time is either going to apocalypse or he who remains.. they already shown imortus in season 4

Rogue saying Morph “barely being on the team for 30 minutes before being fed to the wolves.” Literally Morph getting killed off within the first episode of the original animated series. Lol
It's actually really great for the show to recognize Morph as a character and not just a character to die just for the series by bringing up the original 1st series run plan. That line Rogue said show the writers and creator of the animated series understands and listens to what fans discuss about the franchise.

Idk why everyone was blaming Charles giving the X-men to Magneto as the reason for all of this. That’s not even remotely close to true. This is all the result of Bastion attacking Genosha and kidnapping Magneto
Exactly! I didn't understand how Charles and Magneto became the reason for all of this madness. Genosha just got WIPED off the map and some how it's Magneto's fault. He stopped all of the sentinels with that EMP.
Didn’t the U.N. secretly fund Bastion’s prime sentinel program? I feel like some high profile humans are at fault, too.
Because it was not Magneto's true belief that it would work out. He was willing to give it a try out of respect for Xavier & his 'sacrifice' of being almost killed. Genosha was a trap. The world was manipulated into giving Genosha to the mutants & recognising them to gather & to lull the mutants to exterminate in one fell swoop.
Things might have been very different if Cyclops was the leader & figurehead (maybe Beast) of the X-Men.
Magneto was too polarising a figurehead for the mutants.
@@marcusbell4104, I think the earlier episodes positioned it as Bastion fooling the humans into it. It's not too different from the current Orchis arc in the comics, & this season has seen them mirroring some aspects of the Orchis arc. In fact, once they defeat Onslaught, they may take Xavier into custody, which may mirror the current comics, as some of us anticipate that he may be the teased Prisoner X.
Exactly, he was doing a good job until humans fired first. Genosha would have happened regardless of who was leading the X-Men

Wolverine says to Magneto, "The Brave is Always the First To Die!" Magneto says that SAME LINE in Season 1 The Final Decision episode when the X-Men leave to Fight the Sentinels.
Another great episode! I don't want this season to end. Seeing the X-Men in their classic suits was awesome! The writing is top notch, the music is amazing, and the animation/visuals continue to be breathtaking and phenomenal. THAT ENDING!?!??!?! I never knew bringing a comic panel directly from the pages of a comic book on to a TV screen would fill me with so much despair and dread and shock and leave me absolutely flabbergasted. 1000/10 episode this week! I'm SUPER HYPED for the season finale next week!
I feel the same. I was actually more shocked that Cable had his uncanny suit more though.

When Cyclops blasts Xavier it reminded me of when Anakin cut off Windus arm when he had the upper hand on Palpatine.

@@RandyMarsh0301, actually it may well be the start of Scott's turn to the dark. He knew Gold team didn't need more time, he knew they had failed. Jean said her goodbye. He only has one goal in mind now, to get to Jean & Cable. & he won't want to have to do that while also dealing with Prime Sentinels.

I dread siding with Magnus....& him telling Charles to shut up....I was like "about damn time!" Coz honestly Magnus tried Charles path and it failed so I honestly understand Magnus' pov...
It wasn't just Magneto's darkness that grew into Onslaught. Xavier also contributed his own suppressed negativity to the creation of that submerged psyche. This was explored in the comics at the time. His lust for Jean (euw), his grief over Illyana"s death, all his frustrations and resentments were there

I think his guilt of genosha and leaving magneto in charge is gonna weigh on him enough for Onslaught to start forming... I'm so excited!!!

They are two of my all time favorites that were around at that time and they're just totally absent for all of this stuff in X-Men '97. That's honestly my only gripe. If they had Colossus and Psylocke the show would be a 11/10.

What Wolverine says to Magneto after he stabs him is a direct call back to episode 13 of season 1, The Final Decision, from the original run of the show. Magneto says “the brave are always the first to die” when the x men go to save Senator Kelly from Master Mold.
Xavier also says the exact same line he said in the comics when Mags was about to rip the adamantium out of Logan, word for word. That gave me the chills.
And Magneto has "crowned" Charles. Yikes! Season two is going to be insane!

Because they needed Magneto alive to undo what he did on Earth. Charles was ready to have him undo it, but Cyclops stopped him. The Gold Team didn't cut off Bastion connection to the sentinels.

It’s also 9782, which is a combination of the year the show is taking place as well as the year Sunspot first appeared in the comics in the New Mutants graphic novel, which was released in 1982.
This the best animated show ever I wish it was longer than 10 episodes and longer than 25 minutes

The Wolverine getting the adamantium out of his body. I saw a Pepsi postcard when I was a child (around 8 years old) explaining what Magneto did to Logan. Now in my forty's I get to see an adaptation of such monumental occasion. The postcard was more gruesome than what was shown in the TV series, tough.

The costumes, baby, especially Wolverine in his iconic brown & yellow which is another major fan favorite, got me loving it more. Going back to the mid 60s to the mid 90s,,baby!
the series is already a banger from the start but it kept outdo itself with each new episode.
Another amazing episode!! As I mentioned in previous reaction/reviews I’m convinced Jean returns as Phoenix in the final episode undoing what Magneto did to the earth. All the hints have been there from constant mentioning of it, to being shown multiple times in the intro, and to Jean dismissing Madelyne powers with small Phoenixes on the astral plane in episode 3. Even Cable seem to have fire like raptor when his powers were activated against Jean. Love seeing her friendship shown between and Ororo❤️. The split among the team I think most of us expected but surprised Scott and Hank didn’t side with Erik from their previous comments. Hank I gather changed his tune because of what happened to Trish. From Demayo hint of certain comic book definitely not surprised Wolverine Adamantium taken out but still horrifying this happened. Can’t wait for the conclusion next week!! Appreciate your breakdown Paul!!❤ also they added the new Storm look in the intro 🌩️⛈️⚡️⚡️

Did you missed the part when she realised the person she really loved was Gambit? Being with Magneto because he was the only person who could scratch her itch but Gambit is the one she love, she's conflicted not hyprocratic.
I somehow doubt Remy would approve of Rogue deciding to side with Erik; her feelings are understandable but she is, as Storm worded it, turning her back on family. Plus, I predict Bishop preventing some of what Cable failed.

I was waiting for that ending since this season started. I've been wanting to see that adamantium pulled out for YEARS!!! My jaw dropped in disbelief that it was happening before my eyes. So happy.
I was only 2 in ‘91, but I was definitely old enough to remember the animated series. I had a bunch of X-men toys that had outfits and characters that weren’t in the series. I remember being confused because I didn’t know about the comics.

Fucking called it! As soon as I saw magneto deliver the global EMP I knew they were going to do Fatal Attractions.
I'm equally overjoyed that I got this prediction, but also irritated that every UA-cam channel ignored this story and instead swore we were getting other stories instead.
Fatal Attractions is so often overlooked but it is pure 90s X-Men gold.

He's different from Star Lord. Once Jean was in trouble, it was no longer beneficial to reverse the EMP & allow Prime Sentinels back. It was likely he know Gold team had failed, which meant Mags' way was now the only way to save the mutants, & Jean if she was still alive.

when i seen wolvie put his claws through magneto. i was like, oh shit. and then, magneto started to rip apart wolverine's skin and the metal was coming out of him. i was just yelling, OMFG, FATAL ATTRACTIONS, IT'S MFING FATAL ATTRACTIONS! YES, LFG!
Holy crap another amazing episode of X-Men 97. We finally get The Incredible Hulk animated series version of The Hulk from 1996 that aired on UPN channel. Then you have a nice easter egg to DeMayo's Diner the foreshadowing of what Magneto can do to Wolverine if he wanted and DeMayo pulled it off. Also X-Men 2000 hinted with Magneto asking Wolverine "That remarkable metal doesn't run through your entire body, does it?" during the whole train raid scene.
This would be brilliant on the big screen at the cinema 🎦 this episode imagine a film 🍿 just like the comics brilliant 🤩 also If you know what’s coming, you’re in for a ride season 2 x-men 97

Did not think with how Marvel has been going the last few years, that they would be putting out their absolute best content yet. These last few episodes have just been beyond incredible.

The wigs on the costume stands was weird.
The black leather joke was funny. I get it. BUT... considering what Cable was already wearing, it didn't make any sense. One colorful costume to another. Ok. Why would he make the circus joke?
So ok, the big one... Magneto did it. He ripped the adamantium off Wolverine's bones. He actually did it.
So what worries me is that when we saw that tweet a while ago where the show runner said they wanted to keep the focus off Logan, pretty much explaining why they had Wolverine do nothing all season, I joked that they would actually do this to Wolverine as a way to write him off so they wouldn't have any focus on him at all going forward.
There are ways they could do it and make me happy, but you never know. Like maybe in S2 episode 1 we get the moment where Wolverine is training in the Dangerroom and pops his bone claws the first time. Then in S2 E2 we get Wolverine writing letters to everyone and sneaks off while they sleep. He isn't in the rest of the season.
Then the finale they finish up with whatever the season 2 story is and at the VERY end we get a tease of Apocalypse with his four hoursemen including Gambit and Wolverine! And that gets dealt with in Season 3.
I doubt it will play out like that, but we'll see.
