As someone who has missed the last two OTQ cycles (2016 and 2020) by a matter of seconds....but also made a few OTQs (2007 and 2012) by a matter of seconds this was relatable to watch! So brutal and tough when the time goal comes down to that last 100m after 26-miles and you can see that clock tick away! Great job capturing that emotion with the OTQ packs 🙌
Meg in the end just had me tearing up! That mix of disappointment and tiredness, I felt for her! Great job to still finish even though it was hard. Thanks for creating this awesome content to share. Much love from jamaica 🇯🇲
19:17 : strava or it didnt happen 😂 damn this footage is way better than main stream media. full of emotion, excitement, so intense to watch these amazing athletes upclosed. thank you so much for sharing this for free ❤ the editing, the music, the scene, the narratives and moments its just so perfect! 🎉❤ you and your team is a gift to running community! well done.
Meg should be proud of herself! I mentioned it to her at the end of the race, that I’m glad she took the shot at the OTQ. She had a loaded season and went for it, in the face of all of our expectations! Very inspirational! Thanks Ko for another great piece!!
Your best video to date. Thank you for capturing the heart, the thrill, the struggle, and the agony. It was special for me to see because I was sharing in some of that, but 2hrs back in the race with my sons grinding ahead for 2:48 and 3:15 finishes.
That Pascal letter reference. Sometimes you need those longer moments to let the emotions breathe and marinate. Thank you for this end of year gift Mike
Watched every single of your vids since very beginning, but never commented. This one deserves a "thank you". Amazing footage, editing and content production. You were able to make me almost feel the same emotions these amazing runners were experiencing. Truly a work of art!
Adam took this result extremely well. From DNF in the previous race to pushing himself nearly to the tipping point, he killed this attempt. Might not be what he was looking for but there’s a large group behind him supporting his every move. Super excited to see his work in the future
the splits were pretty much spot on until the wheels came off. but the bright side is that it didn't happen until much after I saw him at mile 19. he's right there.
I was in CIM this year and there was plenty of success and despair! This definitely helped me re live all the feels of the race. While not an elite marathoner by far, I went from Georgia to be in an environment with super fast runners just to experience the vibe and maybe get pulled along! The start was so unlike any other marathon I have run. Solemn and definitely a feeling of the suffering to come. Started in the 3:15 pace group and quickly left them. Passed the 3:10 group around 14 and somehow was able to run a huge 17 minute PR with an OT of 3:08:22 at age 60. THANK YOU CIM!!! Opened the possibility of going sub 3 for me. The course was challenging but definitely fast IF you are ready for rolling hills! Thanks for the memories.
This is art. Your ability to capture the fun and excitement mixed with the raw emotion is amazing. You are able to truly humanize it without coming across as forced like a lot of the mainstream media coverage. Fantastic stuff. That ending hit me right in the feels.
The luxury I have that a mainstream outlet doesn’t is that I have liberty as to which story I want to tell. A news outlet has to tell the winner’s story first, although that isn’t always the most compelling story
Man, that ending made me get choked up. It was great to meet you at the shakeout run, thanks for always highlighting what makes this community so special
The edit following the 20:00 mark is truly something. Came back to watch it again. So much emotions. AMAZING job with Hardy finishing with his hands together seconds before the timer hit the cutoff. Thank you
I keep going back to this video -- you really captured the raw physicality and emotions of the Marathon. If I might ask, who was the music artist during the women's finish section? It's so good!
I’ve particularly enjoyed this “series” because you highlight so many people that are vital cogs in the running community; as someone from the UK we wouldn’t see a lot of this sort of stuff, but it’s also so great to see someone that gets the spotlight on individuals that otherwise might not be greatly recognised. It also makes your videos so personable. Keep it coming!
No one captures the emotional ups and downs of a marathon like you do, instead of trying to explain to my family what I go though, I just show them your videos. Thank you 🙂
What a fantastic video, @kofuzi. Likely your best one ever. I’m latino, so I cannot understand how you didn’t hug Meaghan. I had this urge to give her a hug seeing that final take.
Every finisher is a dream chaser, giving it their all on race day. Once again you beautifully captured the emotions that come with doing that. Thank you for sharing your gift of story telling with us and taking us on the journey. AND it’s always great to see you!
This was so good. I was saving it all week until I could sit down and watch it. I usually do the livestream LBNL in my pocket the next day as I run (audio). But the RW videos I have to digest like fine dining. Loved every bit of it. I wish all marathons had this kind of coverage. Got me excited for Houston and my 20 miler tomorrow
Beautifully produced, my friend! Nailed it. I could feel the grit and determination these athletes pour into these events. Thanks for bringing us along.
The interviews at the end, particularly Meaghan’s interview, hit me right in the feels. The feelings of disappointment and sadness of missing a goal you’d worked so hard for really resonates with me, and I’m sure so many other people. Great CIM coverage. This was such a good video!
Awesome video! Thanks for taking the time to take a selfie with my son and me at the BPN shakeout run! It was far from the race I'd trained for, but quickly got over it after finding my son at the finish line area and heard how he'd crushed his race!
Love the energy of this video. Too bad I couldn't make it out to the shake out run. I see some of my HMR friends in the front while you're talking to the crowd. So jelly. Luckily I spotted you in my trash bag while making my way to the portal potties on race morning. Thank you for not being completely startled and turning down my request for a selfie. You're the best. Such a humble runner. By the way, the emotions of all the elite runners you captured here at the finish line are priceless.
brilliant editing and video Kofuzi. I took 4th there in 2007 and can definitely attest to how difficult that course is..it is NOT where I thought I would have PR'd at as compared to a flat course like rotterdam, berlin or velencia. Great seeing all the athletes out there. Awesome video brother.
thanks to Brian for driving and Tony for leading the way. I had some checkpoints mapped out, and maybe we would have been able to make them all, but Tony has done this before, so it was good to go with someone who knew the way
Awesome footage! CIM is so cool in that there are so many fast runners compared to other marathons. Runners in a sense are working together for a common goal of qualifying.
This might be your best video yet. The way you capture the athletes is phenomenal. The staging, the music, makes me wanna put my shoes on and go for a run
Great video! So much in the video (excitement, disappointment, and spirit)! The road to the Olympic Marathons is amazing. Thank you capturing it and delivering a great video!
Just yesterday i was patiently waiting for this video then i had to finish my work day and go on my daily walk and then sit down for this video. Going to replay it for my boyfriend now lol KOFUZI IS A HOUSEHOLD NAME!!!!
The video was Epic! Way to capture the joy and agony that a marathon can bring. No matter what the goal we're all personally chasing the journey is surprisingly the same ❤
Great vid Ko! Beautiful scenes at the finish... the brutal honesty of sport. But if u gave it all u got... then that's something to celebrate! And i'm pretty sure that turkey has all the answers.
Some people I only met that weekend but they kept popping up in my footage, so it would make sense to show their names so we could follow their progress easier But most are friends that I’ve met over the years at races like this
Sadly, although I had a "ticket" for the rabbit shake out run event, I didn't get the word that it had moved from Fleet Feet to the alternate spot until I got to FF near noon. By that point I had already been walking too much the day before CIM, so I threw in the towel and headed back to my hotel in Folsom. Sorry I missed you. Glad you got the video of the Elites and the OTQ chasers. Amazing efforts. It wasn't my day either. Warmer, especially for us mid and back of packers, than I anticipated. Thanks again for what you do!
Great video! So intens, short clips with some runners in the finish coral were great, Meghan was brutally honest.. also crazy to do multiple marathons in short succession to try and get a very high standerd pr to get into OG.
Awesome video. Very exciting. I had to bow out of the CIM this year for personal reasons, but your video helped clear some of the FOMO I felt. Well done to everyone. Congrats to the winners, the qualifiers, the finishers, and everyone who participated.
This video is SO INTENSE. Thank you for allowing us to feel the emotions from a distance
I haven't seen anything like this race before
As someone who has missed the last two OTQ cycles (2016 and 2020) by a matter of seconds....but also made a few OTQs (2007 and 2012) by a matter of seconds this was relatable to watch! So brutal and tough when the time goal comes down to that last 100m after 26-miles and you can see that clock tick away! Great job capturing that emotion with the OTQ packs 🙌
Break my heart Ko
it's coming
Meg in the end just had me tearing up! That mix of disappointment and tiredness, I felt for her! Great job to still finish even though it was hard. Thanks for creating this awesome content to share. Much love from jamaica 🇯🇲
she is our champion
“I have nothing to lose”😢
19:17 : strava or it didnt happen 😂 damn this footage is way better than main stream media. full of emotion, excitement, so intense to watch these amazing athletes upclosed. thank you so much for sharing this for free ❤ the editing, the music, the scene, the narratives and moments its just so perfect! 🎉❤ you and your team is a gift to running community! well done.

This video always gives me chills.
I low key run to this on repeat sometimes.
Meg should be proud of herself! I mentioned it to her at the end of the race, that I’m glad she took the shot at the OTQ. She had a loaded season and went for it, in the face of all of our expectations! Very inspirational! Thanks Ko for another great piece!!
I hope she's proud of herself. I know we're all proud of her
🥺🥺🥺 Meg did everything she could. Lots of fun being there and making it to the group photo in the Kofuzi shakeout run. Great video Ko 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
good to see you again, Luis!
@@kofuzi good thing I went for a walk early that Saturday morning, saw you running, easier to get a selfie with nobody waiting on line 🤷🏻♂️😆😆. 👍🏼
I was going to feel bad but then she made a big fat excuse out of TRE
Your best video to date. Thank you for capturing the heart, the thrill, the struggle, and the agony. It was special for me to see because I was sharing in some of that, but 2hrs back in the race with my sons grinding ahead for 2:48 and 3:15 finishes.
As far as catching raw emotions, this is your best work yet.. outstanding!
thank you 🙏
a couple of apologies here. sorry it's so long. if I had more time, I could have made it shorter.
also, I apologize for the typos.
and if you have no idea who I am and are just here for race day vibes, please feel free to jump ahead to 9:23
That Pascal letter reference. Sometimes you need those longer moments to let the emotions breathe and marinate. Thank you for this end of year gift Mike
I love this video. It did a great job of capturing the raw energy of marathon
thanks for watching!
Watched every single of your vids since very beginning, but never commented. This one deserves a "thank you". Amazing footage, editing and content production. You were able to make me almost feel the same emotions these amazing runners were experiencing. Truly a work of art!
thanks so much for taking the time to write!
Tremendous work! Felt like being there, with a backstage pass.
thanks for watching, JC!
This.

great to meet you!
Great capturing the emotions of the athletes, I’m here tearing up 🥺🥺🥺 at my desk. Amazing work Ko
thank you for watching!
The edit following the 20:00 mark is truly something. Came back to watch it again. So much emotions. AMAZING job with Hardy finishing with his hands together seconds before the timer hit the cutoff. Thank you
thanks for the rewatch!
I keep going back to this video -- you really captured the raw physicality and emotions of the Marathon. If I might ask, who was the music artist during the women's finish section? It's so good!
your filming, editing, and music choice was outstanding. Truly an amazing video
Thanks so much!
It's the outro with the turkey for me 🙃
Meg we love you!! People’s champ!!! Thanks Kofuzi for this awesome video!! Hopefully I will run CIM 2024 trying to BQ🙌
She really is
incredible coverage. Best race video I've seen. so raw and emotional.
Thank you!
Outstanding video!!

yo, she was like mad sweaty

So good to see you at the finish!

Such a great compliment. Thank you 🙏
This captured the emotional component of chasing a dream
it was amazing to be at the finish line
What a video and making us all cry at the end for Meg
going into the weekend, I really thought this video would be about Adam. but Meaghan stole the show
HELLO TONY, good to see you again in a kofuzi vid =))
Mike Ko. Non-elite runner. Elite storyteller.
Thank you 🙏
Beautifully produced, my friend! Nailed it. I could feel the grit and determination these athletes pour into these events. Thanks for bringing us along.
they gave it their all
Great to see Nick Bare in a Kofuzi video - the two running channels I follow. My running universe collides!
Beautiful edit, as always
The running world is small
The interviews at the end, particularly Meaghan’s interview, hit me right in the feels. The feelings of disappointment and sadness of missing a goal you’d worked so hard for really resonates with me, and I’m sure so many other people.
Great CIM coverage. This was such a good video!
Just ran CIM. This video brought on some tears. It was a tough and brutal race that day.
Awesome video! Thanks for taking the time to take a selfie with my son and me at the BPN shakeout run! It was far from the race I'd trained for, but quickly got over it after finding my son at the finish line area and heard how he'd crushed his race!
it was great to meet the two of you!
Finish line sequence was really nice, beautifully cut. Thanks man!
thank you so much
Those clips at the end... it really embodies the effort of the marathon.
they gave everything
Love the energy of this video. Too bad I couldn't make it out to the shake out run. I see some of my HMR friends in the front while you're talking to the crowd. So jelly. hope you had a great race. glad I got to see you before the start!
The soundtrack to this video... awesome... 👏🤟
thank you
What a great recap! The sweat, the tears, the laughs, the TURKEY!!! Another fantastic video.
it was so random
I scrolled all the comments looking for mention of the turkey 😂
I'm in a Kofuzi video!!! 😃😃 Thanks for being so kool!
Incredible and untold amount of respect for these athletes!
they gave it their all
brilliant editing and video Kofuzi. I took 4th there in 2007 and can definitely attest to how difficult that course is..it is NOT where I thought I would have PR'd at as compared to a flat course like rotterdam, berlin or velencia. Great seeing all the athletes out there. Awesome video brother.
I like to think of the course as rolling hills (that happens to have a net decline)
I love this vid, the music takes it to another level, great job following the runners through the race.
thanks to Brian for driving and Tony for leading the way. I had some checkpoints mapped out, and maybe we would have been able to make them all, but Tony has done this before, so it was good to go with someone who knew the way
the post race talks were so raw i love it. thank you again mike
It’s pretty rare that I get this kind of access near the finish line. Hopefully I can do this more often
That finish line footage and the post race interviews were absolutely the highlight of this one. Awesome stuff.
Wish you could have been there. You would have loved it
Awesome footage! CIM is so cool in that there are so many fast runners compared to other marathons. Runners in a sense are working together for a common goal of qualifying.
Another heater 🔥🔥🔥
For any runners on the edge about going for it on race day I hope Meg's words ring true YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE
Thanks for taking us there. Amazing.
This might be your best video yet. The way you capture the athletes is phenomenal. The staging, the music, makes me wanna put my shoes on and go for a run
Go for it!
The editing and production of this video is unreal 👏🏼
Thank You !!!!
❤ J.
thanks!
Michael, this video is one of my fave marathon videos ive ever watched - thank you for everything you do - you are a true superstar!
Thanks for watching!
This Runner's Weekend video is on another freakin level. Cheers, Mike! It was awesome getting to see you in Sacramento for another CIM 🎉
great to see you!
GREAT GREAT GREAT video!!!!!
thanks!
That's heartbreaking. 😢 I feel for them. So inspiring.
all weekend, you could feel the hopes and dreams. such an emotional race
Great recap of the weekend. Your production skills are improving to such a high level. Thanks for capturing the weekend.
thank you 🙏
That was so epic to watch. It looked intense. Im pumped to run another marathon now 💪 Congratulations to everyone who ran that day !
If this doesn’t make a person want to lace em up and race, I don’t know what will
Great video! So much in the video (excitement, disappointment, and spirit)! The road to the Olympic Marathons is amazing. Thank you capturing it and delivering a great video!
Great video! Thrilled to see myself in the video as a shakeout participant. Fun weekend! Thanks for your amazing work!
thanks for coming!
Turkey outro = amazing 😅
I was not expecting to see a turkey while in downtown Sacramento
Just yesterday i was patiently waiting for this video then i had to finish my work day and go on my daily walk and then sit down for this video. Going to replay it for my boyfriend now lol KOFUZI IS A HOUSEHOLD NAME!!!!
The video was Epic! Way to capture the joy and agony that a marathon can bring. No matter what the goal we're all personally chasing the journey is surprisingly the same ❤
that's why we all get to run the same course
Great vid Ko! Beautiful scenes at the finish... the brutal honesty of sport. But if u gave it all u got... then that's something to celebrate! And i'm pretty sure that turkey has all the answers.
there's no hiding at that finish line
What a video. You never disappoint. Great job KO
thank you 🙏
love the emotions!
Amazing video, echoing the raw emotions in why we all pursue this sport of running. Thanks for capturing these and inspiring the many of us!
Thank you!
This is absolutely sick, amazing footage!
Classy reaction from Droddy towards those who missed out. Similar to do Nascimento turning to Cheptegai at the end of Valencia.
Probably the best Kofuzi vid I’ve ever watched!!
Thank you 🙏
Fantastic video! Love all the names of everyone that you knew.
Some people I only met that weekend but they kept popping up in my footage, so it would make sense to show their names so we could follow their progress easier
But most are friends that I’ve met over the years at races like this

sorry about that change in venue. we were notified just a few days prior that we could no longer be supported at that location.
cinematic masterpiece
Thanks Emily 🙏
Just realized you’re well over 100k dude, great job! Great numbers for an independent running channel. See ya next year.
thanks!
You absolutely know how to tell a story. Thank you and congratulations to all the runners!
Thank you 🙏
Great video,so emotional, editing & music is awesome...
Thank you so much .
Thanks for watching!
This vid is pure class - Mike you should be very proud, you captured marathon racing perfectly
Thank you. Very happy with how the video turned out
Let’s go!! Great footage I’ll make my marathon debut at CIM next year. My friend Medhane 8795 @20:22 made his debut & OTQ🎉
Congratulations!
Awesome video. Great footage capturing the raw emotions of the athletes.
Another great video. And what a beautiful day in California.
I don't know how they do it, but it's always a perfect day, even if the weather could have been touch better.
What a GORGEOUS capture of the day! Amazing work by all the runners and by you Ko! Yo this is another great vlog! Thank you 🙏
This day had everything
Seriously such a good vid!! You captured the emotions of the runners so well and the vid was so well put together.
Excellent video! This was so well done ❤
Wonderful video dude. Especially the finish. The best finish that I have seen in a while.
it was an incredible day
Wow there are very few videos out there that can capture emotions like that. I have enjoyed your videos for a long time, but Michael this was special
Thank you 🙏
Great CIM overview and footage! Onto HTown in a few weeks🎉 🤠
See you there!
Another great video as usual, thanks man!
Thanks for watching!
Outstanding work! The audio throughout aligned perfectly with the mood.
thanks!
Great video! So intens, short clips with some runners in the finish coral were great, Meghan was brutally honest.. also crazy to do multiple marathons in short succession to try and get a very high standerd pr to get into OG.
It was a whirlwind of emotions that day
When Adam Wood was hanging off the back of the group 😢 So gracious at the end tho. Most emotional Runner’s Weekend yet. 🥲
he was working so hard, but he looked good. I really thought he might get it done
Great video! Can't wait to see these guys in beautiful downtown Orlando soon!
It’s gonna be the race of the year
Such a great video. The feelings and intensity are captured perfectly.
The finish line was quite the scene
Great video, Kofuzi.
Thank you
Great coverage!☆
Awesome video. Very exciting. I had to bow out of the CIM this year for personal reasons, but your video helped clear some of the FOMO I felt. Well done to everyone. Congrats to the winners, the qualifiers, the finishers, and everyone who participated.
hope you can get back next year!
