I hate that Emerson's character was introduced and killed off in the same episode, not for narrative reasons, but simply because I wanted to see more of this amazing actor.
I thought it wasn't exactly fair asking him about a second season >_>
Agreed but all good tho gs must come to an end EVEN if was too good 👍🏼
until confirmed or proven wrong he was a synth in S1, or he him and coop will be the focus points in flashback for S2. they still got a lot of story with coop but i see it all tying in with Ben somehow.
He could always play another character. And ya they could do the synth thing.
yh
His acting as a dead head was really convincing, such a great actor.
He really embodies his role sometimes
Cant believe he invented and implanted fusion tech in his head!
@@dukenukem8381 I think he rediscovered it, being a tech moldaver lost to buy-outs
@@dukenukem8381 Was it not cold fusion?
@@mikew4022 It was blue Led in a prop silicon head
fuck it bring him back for season 2, no explanations
Tape that head on! 😂😂😂😂
It's Fallout, they could figure out a way with all the crazy sci-fi stuff going on there.
somehow.. wilzig returned
He could come back as a Synth.
He could be a clone
Michael Emerson is such a brilliant actor! He was great on lost but damn he was brilliant in person of interest.. any time he can tap into a dangerous smart character it’s just awesome
I've never gotten around to watching Lost, but I was captivated by Michaels role as Harold in Person of Interest. He truly is an amazing actor. Really hoping to see more of him in the upcoming season of the Fallout series. The mysterious/dangerous genius roles suits him really well
Just started watching poi again and Finch stoned cracks me up.
it's interesting that he and Nolan reunite in Fallout from Person of Interest and he still acted with a limb and with a dog companion just like PoI LOL
@@MrIraxtIf you’ve got the time Lost is worth the journey. His character, Ben, is one of the most complex and compelling characters I’ve seen written for modern media and he literally blows it out of the water. I’m about to go for a rewatch, but his journey on that show will make you feel things (like all the things, sometimes all at once)
I thought it was funny that he was the “person of interest” in the first 2 episodes of Fallout.
Loved that he got the same breed of dog for both shows
@@sarahwilliams-curto6750 now tell me the teddy bear as a toy for the dog was not a hint as well to bear?
Nice.
You might even say, LA was his "Island".
@@sarahwilliams-curto6750 Indeed! I found that to be really clever/fun!
He was a good man until he Lost his head
Vault tec medical technology is so advanced they reattached his head so flawless and perfect.
simplest solution, Zombie head , that gets turned into Ghoul, that regrows his body. the miracle of gamma radiation.
The 1st episode shows a stimpak from the game, it's the needle lucy uses for the knife wound...
Which heals you back to full health which happens in the tv show.
i still believe he was a synth in s1.
Med-Tek
I hope they do flash backs on his character, how he knew lucy's name. That could be a way to give hims some screen time.
Enclave remember knows about the vault experiments and they would have been part of what occured with Shady Sands
@@toomanyaccounts that's a good theory
surprised the interviewer didn't mention that that specific turret is notorious for not hitting the broadside of a barn
Yeah, it was lore accurate
Forget a barn, it can't even hit a mirelurk queen point-blank. xD
Michael Emerson is an actor's actor. Absolutely Brilliant!
"Until then, there's always my head." Best recurring body part in a limited series. Had me ROFL. 😂😂
Honestly his brain could be put into a robo
The way he explained how he thinks of words as music was a beautiful description of his approach
yes, the melody of language - also very useful when learning foreign languages #lifehack :D
He should come back in flashback in season 2. He could be a character in Enclave flashbacks.
“Ben Linus must be getting pretty expensive if they could only afford his head for most of the season.”
I love Mr. Emerson’s take on acting. Seems similar and different to Mr. Goggins.
I loved the Fallout Tv show! I really wish that Wilzig had not died! I absolutely loved his character!
I bet he'll be back.
Michael makes every show better and legitimate!
Such a great actor, couldn't say it too many times.
Criminally short time on season one, hopefully will get more time in season 2 in flashbacks
Or do some crazy sci-fi shenanigans like a clone or a synth, heck I'd even accept a twin brother.
Thank you for interviewing one of my favorite character actors...he's so good.
I remember loathing this actors character in Lost ! He is that good at acting because he’s so nice in interviews !
Right!?! I remember my initial reaction to that character, and then seeing an interview or two and being like, jeesh this guy is probably every niece and nephew’s favorite uncle! What a sweet, smart, and talented actor!
And in lost he was initially supposed to be a one-off character just like Fallout but they loved his performance so much they turned him into a main character the next season. Maybe he can get the same treatment again... somehow.
He was one of my favorite characters. Seemed like one of the only good karma characters in the show other than Lucy.
For sure. He genuinely seemed to care about her wellbeing due to her naivete as a vault dweller, because no one who didn't give a rats ass would try to persuade the same person to go home to safety twice. Hell when she refused him both times, he at least tried to impart some degree of wisdom onto her to at least improve her abysmal chances of surviving her mission.
I HEART Michael Emerson!!!! he is an AMAZING actor.
He's such an awesome actor. I couldn't believe it when I saw him in in Fallout!!!... OMG!!. Awesome :) Well cast!
I recently started watching Evil and Michael Emerson steals every scene he's in.
He was great in the show! Especially how he bonded with dogmeat.
Man… he was awesome. He played the character very good! He’s amazing, but wows. I loved his acting.
Very interesting he pays such attention to the musical notes he hits when saying his lines. If you know a little about music and some instrument knowledge, you can easily work out your own speaking notes, and then others… this is a rabbit hole you can get stuck in. He’s very talented at playing weird or odd or mysterious
Touching on what Michael said, one thing that really stuck out to me about Fallout was the way many of the actors delivered their lines, the timing, inflections. They did a fantastic job of it, and it both separated the world from our own but still connected to it in a way.
It's nice to hear that LOST is still on his mind after all those years. I really hope he return in season 2. Either as flashback or reanimated head in a jar.
Emerson did an amazing job with this role. He's been great in his other parts as well, but I was incredibly fired up by his performance in Fallout. The campfire scene was chilling.
@8m in Totally with you, would Love to see Flashbacks in Season 2 for Michael/Wilzig!!
Mr. Emerson could become a Robobrain in Season 2. I'd love it!
One of the best actors in the last 20 years...just amazing and bone chilling in lost. I love that his Real voice and speaking is like his characters, soft spoken, stuttery...its magical.
What a wonderfully charming actor. I loved the character and look forward to seeing ME in other projects. May his career be long and satisfying! Thank you for bring us this interview!
The show is amazing. I don’t watch TV much and it drew me in. Well done!
I thought that was why the screen said to "please remain calm"... Because it needed them to stay still for Targeting
I hope they bring back Michael as a clone or a synth. The Fallout setting has so many possibilities.
I love what they did with the head, some of the expressions were gold :D
Another Fringe fan in the comments, welcome.
Returns as a Gen 3 synth ... (the SKKMods Fallout TV show rating is 95/100 with a 5% debuff only applied for not including any synth content).
The music tied everything in so well. Without the music I think it would not have felt nearly as connected.
Fantastic actor - he made a huge impact on the show - inspired casting for the role.
I never dug too far from his professional work (like many I discovered him in Lost and then was over the moon to discover other projects he was in) but Michael Emerson has been on my short list of favorite actors for years, and to see him discover/enjoy/wonder at a world that I feel as home in as Ben would have on the Island is a unique joy I hadn’t anticipated! Wonderful interview with such an amazingly thoughtful and intelligent actor! (The algorithm brought me here but I’m gonna be a subscriber from now on, thanks in advance for all the great content!)
I'm hoping Michael's head will get a recurring role...
His character was so interesting. Kind but eerie, kind of robotic. So mysterious how he seemed to know so much about everything and there was so little known about him.
Mr. Emerson - what an interesting actor! Intriguing in Person of Interest. SO difficult to like in Evil. And a great enigma in Fallout. Capable of amazing range!
He was one of my favorite characters. I know that with Lucy there’s a bit of having one too many very very morally good and pure characters but I think he was a realist aware of the waste without being jaded or made cruel by them in a way that was so sweet. I’m also sad knowing that he died thinking his dog died without knowing they’d continue. I’d love to see more of chis character in the show.
I will always remember this guy for his role in Saw... "there are rules..."
i love how he said "make believe"
I’m really looking forward to his return as Leland Townsend in the final season of Evil.
Loved him in Person Of Interest... He's excellent at what he does!
I've never in my life seen an interview with Emerson. His character from LOST always stuck with me though. He just excels at creepy characters.
I was so happy to see him in fallout. Ben is still my all time fav antagonist
Thx for the ride Michael!
I believe his character is a Synth, and that we'll be seeing more of him!
It's not just the sets that had to get it right for the tone of this series to make it a hit - the actors all had to their parts very well to boot - and they all knocked it out of the park no matter how small their role especially Michael. Great work - would be so awesome if Wilzig came back as a Synth lmaooooo
Michael Emmerson and Terry O'Quinn carried "Lost" IMO. It is always a pleasure to see either of them on the TV.
Looking forward to seeing more Wilzig flashbacks with in S2.
A Boy and His Dog, such an influential novella and movie. Wilzig was full of nervous hope, him dying and passing the torch on to Lucy was so bittersweet. And I bet the Dog is special, very very special, I would not be surprised if it had telepathy.
Also it would be kind of awesome if Don Johnson made a cameo in the series and have a "chat" with the dog. Don Johnson btw was the original Boy in the aforementioned film, named Vic. BTW in Fallout 4 I named the my Sole Survivor Vic. Wish I could have renamed the dog to Blood but... oh well.
This mans performance in Lost is legendary.
He is such a good actor I expect him to be in the second season.
The 'please stay calm' text on the turret was obviously meant so that the target has to stay stationary in order for it to hit anything.
I really REALLY wish his character had a longer run. He a so much fun and mysterious. Maybe he can come back in flashbacks at least?
Hey dude :D i hope you had a lot of fun working for this show and getting to interact with the pupper!! Your acting is INCREDIBLE!!! ❤ Immersion was never broken when you were in screen. ❤
He's one of the best characters in the series. I wish they would have kept him around much longer.
This guy was cool, really enjoyed the intro, really sold me the whole enclave lab scientist
Also the intro track with Ella Fitzgerald and Ink Spots was just stupid cool
Loved him in Person of Interest, hated him in Evil. Sign of great actor.
Person of Interest was ahead of it's time
Man I love this actor.
I was thrilled to see Michael Emerson in FALLOUT. I hated that he was killed off in the first season. Hopefully, in future seasons, he will return in flashbacks.
The turret scene looks like Luck 10 in action. "Fortunately for Dr. Wilzig, the installation techs responsible for that particular turret could not calibrate targeting computers worth a damn."
I wanted to see lots more of this character.
How the heck do you guys get in touch with awesome people like him? :D Great interview!
This dude was awesome in Fallout.
The Gatling gun scene was ridiculous and funny 😂
Great interview! Thanks!
"...music to my ears."
Dear Mr. Emerson. Since the first impression, I've harbored a seething loathed for you ever since "EVIL". This was difficult for me as I have always had a soft spot for men with the "nerd" appearance. Having never played the Fallout's before the 4th, I knew little of the Enclave, but like the Brotherhood, don't think I would have much interest in them as a whole. The loathing I had for you proves what a wonderful actor you are!
Your work on this show, I was so very saddened to see your characters head doing most of the work! How can I do anything, but adore the man who saved and created my beloved Dogmeat?! A man who, stepped away from the corrupt, risking life and limb to share with the world? I truly hope that your character is made into a "Nick Valentine" a "synth". You'd be a FANTASIC Nick!
I simply love, love, love your work! Your look, your voice and mannerisms. As I command my children, pup and all those I love, as I command you... You are NOT allowed to ever become old, be sick or ever be in fear! Live long and WORK often Sir!
I know many people know him from Lost. I don't. I still haven't watched that show, but it's somewhere on my list. He will always be foremost remembered by me as Harold Finch/Wren/Swallow/etc. from Person of Interest.
The observation of "left a voice recording of himself", given the myriad of technologies in this world, and the background I know this actor best from, I could see this as very possible. But not just voice recordings. Video recordings or even glitchy early form holographic recordings. I'd rather see a glitchy proto-hologram of him for 25 seconds with a plot point triggered by a set condition, than hear an audio recording. Like the recording had an intent to reach someone, not just a "random log record" [under 15 seconds after I finished typing this part of this comment and un-paused, Mr. Emerson brought up "Person of Interest" and made reference to something akin to, but not quite in line with my thought process.]
In Re: the turret missing consistently when Wilzig and the dog escape... I've joked that the "targeting protocols came from a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away." [About 30 seconds later, Logan. you got where I was going.]
For the lost section I'd say that goes to MGM From by the original writer of lost and it's got a lot of similarities and I really like it, definitely recommend it because not a lot of people know about new good shows anymore with the hundreds of streaming platforms.
This was awesome and I love giving attention to casts who admittedly weren't on screen for very long but still make an impact of the entire character of Lucy
Those turrets never miss me when I play.
I just remembered he worked with similar dogs to dog meat in person of interest.
great interview!
Best 'mad scientist' actor ever.
the fact Michael Emerson is 69 years old is crazy I thought he was maybe early 50s at the most not nearly 70 !!!
I really love this actor, I was hoping for more screen time…
How can he comeback in next season… flashbacks maybe
I love these actors that take their jobs super seriously, appreciate the craft of filmmaking. On projects like this you have to have diehard fans of the source material.
But those diehard fans don’t have to be the cast.
Gotta give Emerson credit, he was a very believable Enclave scientist Wilzig. Very well played sir. And yes, Holotapes are strewn across the wasteland! Mr. House from Robco sort of has an Avatar as you mention, his body is in suspended animation whilst his mind operates the Mainframe in his Casino. Lorewise your idea checks out :)
Loved the cockroach speech! So well acted.
“The question is, will you still want the same things… when you have become a different animal altogether?” -Wilzig
You guys are awesome. I say they should get the DNA from his head and make a synth with it and get the memories out of it as well, and pump that into the synth too. Maybe even the whole brain. But as a synth he could come back 100% and play that role... the revived parts, still waiting on or to find out how to get the memory parts back.
wow, such a flashback to hear the names Hurley and John Locke! and wow, when I saw Michael Emerson's role in Fallout, I was excited because I really enjoyed his character, Linus, in Lost, and I looked forward to the mysterious slant his character Siggi was taking, and then to have him killed off, I was really disappointed. On the other hand, the shenanigans with Siggi's head is hilarious, and I'm not sorry, but I do wish it would have happened a bit later in the episodes so we could have had more time with the mysterious Siggi.
Wilzig
re: getting the tone right... to date I have logged 2,800 hrs in FO, almost all in FO 76. Not a huge amount compared to long time players, but IMO the tone is GREAT!
Looking forward to seeing how "Evil" wraps up too!
I haven't seen him on screen since Lost. He is a brilliant actor.
He was so good in Lost I still see him as a villain haha.
We love you, Ben!
I think any continuation of the LOST story would have to be in books
Mr. Emerson was absolutely brilliant in this series. I think his intro in Episode 2 was a critical bridge that carried a lot of people further into the story, who otherwise might have backed off. I'm so sad they killed off his character, but that's Fallout after all.
My brother loves Person of Interest and he keeps telling me to watch it. He's been doing a rewatch of PoI atm so I see where he was going with mentioning the voice recordings. Even if that's all that happens in Fallout season 2 for his character I would welcome it. He did an amazing job in Fallout and my brother loves his character in PoI. I never got too far in Lost they lost me after the 1st season. But if he gets a callback in some way for season 2 I am all for it.
I loved this man in the show Evil, and when I saw him him on the teaser I went "if they don't cast him for Enclave or Institute they aren't serious!"
I really want him back for season 2 they could have a synth version of him just bring him back plsssssssss
