Really liked listening to this guy speak about the design process, being in graphic design myself it is really neat to listen to someone so passionate and meticulous
As someone who is in the design and manufacturing world- the detail, excitement, passion, expertise, and love in this presentation are just absolutely amazing. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I’d kill to work for someone like The Wand Company.
Before the show was announced, I had wanted to suggest Adam build a suit of Power Armor, like his Iron Man Mk.1... but didn't think Adam would have enough interest in a game to do it. *_However,_* now that it's a show that Adam can more easily get into it... I *really **_really_* hope Adam will make one now!! 🤞😌🤞 Would make me SUCH a happy guy! 😊 *_EDIT:_*_ Also, I think it deserves mentioning, that there are MULTIPLE different models of Power Armor that Adam could pick from. He would just need to look at the Fallout Fandom-Wiki to see all the variants, across all the games. There's even various paint schemes for them, thanks to Fallout 76 (my fav is the "Blackbird" scheme, which is SR-71 inspired and is matte black with red accents). WHAT'S MORE... There's also the "Raider" variants, which are 'Mad Max' modified._ _AND, in terms of the games, you had 2 arms, 2 legs, the helmet, and the torso... So what I did for my FO76 character's armor was mix and matched from the different models, to create an _*_even more_*_ unique look. (they were all affixed to a power armor "exoskeleton" chassis)_ 😊 _So it's definitely a "kid in a candy store" scenario, with a lot of choices and freedom. (as cool as the Raider armors look, I hope Adam would go for one of the "pre-war" models heh)_
I happely run around in an Ultracite-armoured suit.. took me some raids on the headquarter in Watoga to collect enough scrap, but i'm pretty happy with it now.

@@bobzuruncle2214 So what is the "hero" version? Do you mean it is only a special version meant for advertising, or it is a higher quality version that will be sold for more money later on?
@@xx_amongus_xx6987 The former. The version we see in the video is for the video and advertising. High quality, best made, details all sorted out and carefully edited to show it off. The product they ship to customers tends to be of poorer quality. This is a pattern for Bethesda and the companies they contract out to make these things. I hope I am proven wrong and they deliver a cool collectible, and you super enjoy it, which is why I say buyer beware, not buyer avoid. Just google Bethesda collectible scandals and you'll see what I mean.
the tube size is proportional to the sensitivity. The tubes are very expensive (relatively) and generally, for a small tube that would fit in a Pip-Boy unless you were outside Chernobyl's front door you wouldn't hear many clicks... so one click every day or so would not be much fun... on the other hand, it would mean that you were safe... You don't really want to hear those clicks, especially since RadAway hasn't been invented yet.
@@chrisbarnardoTWC That makes sense. I guess the novelty would sell. The functionality i guess would be useless. Id still buy it though for the novelty. I have one of those tubes and circuit boards myself because i wanted to make one. Never got around to it and i think i lost the tube somewhere.
@@chrisbarnardoTWC I did buy a touchscreen to make the pipboy screen though. I use it as a macro keyboard for games. Never finished the programming or wrist mounted shell for it either. I think you can buy the capacitive touch film and lay it overtop of the plastic concave making the look and functionality. I'd use the geiger counter not for accurate purposes but to be very rudimentary. That is still interesting to me.
Fallout was one of those shows that you can just tell the prop and costuming teams had an absolute blast. I really hope the tested crew get the opportunity to talk to them behind the scenes, maybe for season 2!
As a designer, engineer, model maker, and tech fan, this was a FANTASTIC look into production design, art, engineering, and the problem solving that accompanies them all.
After making 2 pip boys which held phones, I ordered one of these for myself. Showing the prototyping was great and I am very excited for the final product.
What an awesome stand! I would love to have several stands just like that one! What's that kooky wrist-thing device that's obscuring my view of that fabulous stand?
Cool to see they actually thought about functionality with the ability to use it as an alarm clock and having the display mode. Actually makes me consider getting it
I was just thinking that someone needs to make a "Pip-Watch" that looks like a tiny Pip-Boy (maybe just the screen part) and is just a smartwatch inside. Granted, the touchscreen aspect would be challenging to say the least... But I doubt most of us would care much lol
I'm so stoked that one of my biggest inspirations growing up did an episode on a prop from my favorite franchise! Adam can we please get a Fallout prop one day build???
You are not at Tested so you saying "here at Tested" makes no sense. You are like the people that name drop people's names that they don't actually know.
Wow that was an amazing episode thank you Adam for having the wand company, with Chris & Jeremy visit The Cave with these amazing pip boys, I got mine. I ordered it on day one and matter of fact I have 12 others as well there's just something about the pip boy. I can't wait for season 2 and more cool thinks from the wand company.
Ive played the games for hundreds of hours of fallout from fallout 3 to 76 and these pipboys are absolutely spot on drop dead gorgeous and loved the fact they did that quest in 76 to find the plans of the 2000 real fan service from bethesda is truly heartwarming and to see these props being brought to life by chris and his team is so cool Cant wait to see more in season 2
The stand needs to be completely redesigned. It doesn't fit aesthetically in the slightest. Everything in the Fallout universe is rounded over, and is a result of the casting process by which objects in that universe are created. i.e. draft angle & fillets
Yep the stand is minimalistic and kinda disappears but you'd never see something like that in the fallout universe. I doubt we will see any change though. It is way too far in and they aren't going to be making major changes like that.
That was just the one used in the TV show. They had some sort of sleeve for the actors to wear underneath. You might´ve caught up on it if you paid more attention ;)
You know it doesn't actually need a lining the Vault suit has leather cuffs for a reason the pip boy sit on the leather cuffs so it doesn't need additional pads in universe.
see this is fun, more than just showing off a finished product they bring in all the bits and talk through the design and iteration. I'm never going to buy one of these, I just am not that big of a Fallout fan. but the process of making them is fascinating to me.
We can’t wait for ours! And like Norm said the fact that the show allowed us fans to be involved was amazing! Our Assaultron is the one seen in episode 2 and the screaming in our house when it came on screen was insane! Adam may remember seeing it right before we shipped it off to the show when he was at MegaCon 😊
And NCRR440 from New California on the radio station list. For weeks I thought people were pulling my leg but it really was in there. Which was amazing. Kilter films really does think of everything.
I wish the 76 kit was still available thing is awesome and I'm kicking myself for not getting one but this new one is a work of art and definitely on my radar now ^^
I love how people that have never even played the fallout games are all the sudden acting like they have loved fallout for years lmao. Everything "Fallout" is lame past New Vegas.
@@thomgizziz What are you talking about? Of course I do, Fallouts 1, 2, 3 and NV are the only good ones. 4 and beyond are terrible. I despise 4 because thats when everything started going to crap. Possibly the greatest insight into the design > manufacturing process of any thing I've ever seen. The dialogue about the processes and pieces made all the difference. This is not "How its Made". This is human.🤓
I've never played the games or watched the show and have no desire to, but it's fascinating seeing the evolution of their design and seeing them all nerding out over it. :)

Someone should let those guys know they probably used some type of custom Chi charger to charge the phone in Lucy's pip boy rather than remove it over and over and have the fitment get sloppy over time.
Dropped down into comments to say this, they absolutely used wireless charging to keep that topped up.
Chi charger?
You mean a induction charger?
@@SqualidsargeStudios The wireless charging technical standard is called QI, which is pronounced "chi"
No qi or chi. It was removed and charged.
@@pileofstuff You still write it Qi and most people say wireless charging. Also no they didn't do that.
Would make me SUCH a happy guy! 😊
*_EDIT:_*_ Also, I think it deserves mentioning, that there are MULTIPLE different models of Power Armor that Adam could pick from. There's also the "Raider" variants, which are 'Mad Max' modified._
_AND, in terms of the games, you had 2 arms, 2 legs, the helmet, and the torso... So what I did for my FO76 character's armor was mix and matched from the different models, to create an _*_even more_*_ unique look. (they were all affixed to a power armor "exoskeleton" chassis)_ 😊
_So it's definitely a "kid in a candy store" scenario, with a lot of choices and freedom. (as cool as the Raider armors look, I hope Adam would go for one of the "pre-war" models heh)_
I happely run around in an Ultracite-armoured suit.. took me some raids on the headquarter in Watoga to collect enough scrap, but i'm pretty happy with it now.
As someone who preordered this, it is so cool to be able to see the process of development for a product this intricate and well made. I'd love more videos like this!
I've ordered mine about a month ago, i cannot explain the sheer excitement this video has brought me. Thank you Tested for covering this and The Wand Company for making many of our dreams come true. Finally a beautifully made product done with care within the object itself and for the demographic it is for. SO HYPED!!!
Be careful. Buyer Beware. It's worth Google'ing other Bethesda Collectible reviews. They often make sub standard products while advertising the "hero" version. Don't get caught out with a bad make and model.
Ordered mine about 2 months ago.
I'm so glad to have pre-ordered this and be supporting people who are so excited and passionate about what they do. It's so great to see people like this

I lovveeee when genuine enthusiasts build things
You can FEEL the experience through the screen, I've never been a fan of buying into hype but this is a work of art that I may just need to get my grubby hands on
dude the start up of the screen with the sounds too is so cool!!
I was so excited by Adam’s excitement I pre-ordered a Pip-Boy.

I pre ordered one if these a couple days ago but seeing all the love and work that's gone into it makes it feel a bargain to me, can't wait to get it.
I have always wanted a Pip Boy. I ordered this one a few days ago. Great Video!

Wand co is truly next level I hope they continue to bring it in the best of ways :)
They sell the Geiger-Müller tubes that could fit perfectly inside of a slightly larger one. That is the functionality i want and will pay for.
Why no one has thought about it yet amazes me because i know it is possible and would sell like hot uranium cakes.
the tube size is proportional to the sensitivity.
This is hugely entertaining. Listening to them talk shop is thrilling.
Thoughts in Adam's head this whole video: "giggity giggity giggity giggity giggity!!!"
Already had mine pre-ordered. If they deliever on the promise, its a must have for a fan and a dream come true at that.
Chris is great ❤
i’m so excited for this product so i want all the videos about it and this just made me even more excited!!
Actually makes me consider getting it
Can't wait for someone to mod one into a working fitness tracker/smartwatch :D
I was just thinking that someone needs to make a "Pip-Watch" that looks like a tiny Pip-Boy (maybe just the screen part) and is just a smartwatch inside.
Granted, the touchscreen aspect would be challenging to say the least... But I doubt most of us would care much lol
I'm so stoked that one of my biggest inspirations growing up did an episode on a prop from my favorite franchise! Adam can we please get a Fallout prop one day build???
Wait til everyone finds out Fallout is an entire game series lol
I definitely thought people picked up Fallout again until I saw the prime series
So glad jeremy had a chance to meet with everyone here at Tested!
Same! It must've been like a dream come true! Here's hoping he can drop by again in the future!
You are not at Tested so you saying "here at Tested" makes no sense. You are like the people that name drop people's names that they don't actually know.
@@thomgizziz i was using here as in here at this youtube channel
No need to be so rude over semantics
The green Pipboy was based after Fallout 76. Slightly larger, and possibly heavier. The others were based after Fallout 4.
Wow! That was really awesome to hear about how they took the concept and built it out.
🤓Your Geek Fix represent! 🖖
THanks
This was such an addictive show and tell. What energy and passion
Cool to see you pop up here Mike!
@@MassiveDMG wherever there is fallout I'll be there wherever there is Jeremy I'll be there.😁
@@CGRREDACTED Jeromy's got The Mysterious Stranger perk unlocked it seems!
Now do a Mister Handy next. 😂
1:1 fully autonomous Assaultron
Adam never had to tell you. He never needed to reveal his secrets for the thumbnail. He did it to give you more knowledge.
Appreciate it
The stand needs to be completely redesigned.
It is way too far in and they aren't going to be making major changes like that.
bought the pipboy model a few years ago when 76 came out fun build, nice display piece
The cuff having no lining is just weird and makes no sense. Good job on improving on that aspect of the design.
It had quite a bit of lining in fallout 4…you might even say too much
That was just the one used in the TV show.
I pre-ordered back in March and have been dying for a closer look. This video was that and more. I am so excited to get my hands on it come November!
see this is fun, more than just showing off a finished product they bring in all the bits and talk through the design and iteration.
I wish the 76 kit was still available thing is awesome and I'm kicking myself for not getting one but this new one is a work of art and definitely on my radar now ^^
Making the fusion cells batteries is such a good idea. Props to these guys; pun intended. I want one of these so bad.
I'd kill to watch Adam play the first fallout lmao
Thank you for showing this, this is amazing!
The stand really does not go with the aesthetic of the prop though, it looks like a modern laptop stand. Needs work.
Yep the stand is minimalistic and kinda disappears but you'd never see something like that in the fallout universe.
@@thomgizziz I figure it should look 50s in style, and it just doesn't
It's really pleasing to see Adam's enthusiasm.
I love how people that have never even played the fallout games are all the sudden acting like they have loved fallout for years lmao. Everything "Fallout" is lame past New Vegas.
Fallout 4 is 9 years old
Awww is the king of the fandom angry? So you liked fallout 3... oh you didn't understand that 3 came before NV? GTFO of here with your nonsense.
@@thomgizziz What are you talking about? Of course I do, Fallouts 1, 2, 3 and NV are the only good ones. 4 and beyond are terrible. I despise 4 because thats when everything started going to crap.
Im not the one trying to defend the crappiest parts of a franchise, so maybe you should be the one to GTFO
@@VashStarwind3 sucks. Sorry
@@germanulrich Oh no it does.. but its WAYY better than 4 or 76, or the dumb show.. lmao
Love it when people are passionate about what they do
Why are people liking this terrible show?
Because some of us think it’s good?
It really is terrible lmao. Especially compared to the older games. All these new poser fallout fans LMAO
@@VashStarwindMan... Don't gatekeep like that, please. More people liking the thing you like doesn't water anything down even a little.
@@theprojectproject01 When people start to like an inferior version, yes, yes it does. Very much so..
@@tested I liked it.
If I knew prop making was a profession when I was a kid, I would have taken a very different career path… this stuff is so awesome
The amount of incredible props and collectables that are going to come out of this show is going to be incredible.
I honestly don't mind if companies start making phones like Pip-boys, would love to buy it.
I've already pre-ordered! I'm so STOKED about Season-2!!!! So glad it was well worth the wait and it's a fan game of mine! Go Fallout Go!
This is like Santa collaborating with the wizard of oz and it makes my happy overflow 😊😊😊
One thing I enjoy is Adam remarking on the updates to production methods, in which they’re able to make props look convincingly like metal. The stunt knifes for Blade Runner 2049, and the Pipboy, for example.
