Loved your tutorial! I think I am going to try this cause I’ve been looking for faux cakes online, and they are pretty pricey! Congrats on your Etsy store. Much success to you!!!
Mannnn I’m about to go to the dollar tree right now cus I just spent 30 minutes looking online for a fake cake for my baby first birthday!!! THANK YOUUUUU!!!
Hi!! :) I haven't tried this yet, but spraying on a spray paint would add a nice gloss to it. Try using a clear glaze spray paint or white spray paint, or whatever color to match your cake. This will help it look not so matte.
To make it smooth just sand it as you would do when used on walls. Spackling is not naturally made to be shiny but you could try putting a clear coat over it
I initially wanted it to be a “naked cake” because I didn’t think I’d have enough spackling so the brown paint would peek through. Turns out, I had more than enough spackling haha. I guess I kept the brown painting portion in the video. 😂😅
Hi Ghazal!! I added a few drops of pink acrylic to get the pink color. Lightweight spackling is meant to be used on drywalls lol. But they are also used for fake cake displays! You can find it at your local Dollar Tree/Home Depot/Lowe's or Amazon here: www.amazon.com/12140-Interior-Exterior-Spackle-2-Pint/dp/B0006MXS0Q/
I have not removed the spackling from the styrofoam til this day! It sits on my desk as a display lol. But when working on it, you can easily remove it with your finger/a spatula before it completely dries.
The spackle was bad. When it's not touching the sides it bad...that's why it look grainy and grumbling. Don't buy spackle at doller tree. It's the good brand but it's way passed expired...they get the for 5 cents a jar.
@@heyrachele One tip when buying spackling is to shake the container before buying. If you hear it moving around, it's separated from the walls and old.
Okay, but that final cake image is not really what she had previously done in the video. Great idea, but a little misleading anywho thanks for the tutorial
You are amazing. Ive been online looking at cake dummies for an hour but i dont have $30 to spend on styrofoam... Then i found your video!! You ROCK
you’re so creative!!! i’m still in shock at how real this cake looks 🤩

I tried this..I had no success.. purchased fondant from local store along with other supplies . ( great sale price)
She didn’t use fondant in the tutorial
Wow This is soooo cool!! :0 you need more subscribers and likes
0:30 damn I haven’t seen a plastic bag like that in a long time (nj/ny)
What's the point of the brown paint underneath?
I initially wanted it to be a “naked cake” because I didn’t think I’d have enough spackling so the brown paint would peek through. Turns out, I had more than enough spackling haha. I guess I kept the brown painting portion in the video. 😂😅
amazing video

What do you use for icing pink colour and??
What is lightweight spackling?

@@heyrachele thanks you help me alot
Where do get the sticks used for the topper?
I got them on Amazon! Here’s the link: www.amazon.com/Royer-Plastic-Swizzle-Sticks-Crystal/dp/B010TR0BXY
how durable is the spackling?
Pretty durable after it dries! It’s been over a year and it’s still in great shape in my craft room. It just has collected a bit of dust haha 😛
Could you make a video on how to make fake cupcakes?
I will definitely give that a try!! :)
You mean a fork full
Loved
How did you remove the spackling from the styro.

I had no idea! It was my first time buying spackling and came across it at the store 😅 thanks for the heads up!
@@heyrachele no problem. The cake still turned out amazing...super cute.
I noticed that too. If you open spackling and you see its separated from the side walls of the container that means its old and drying out.

muy lindo chica
