Attaching the two dummy cakes together with tooth picks works better rather than using the glue. Less messy and no need to wait, also if you want to reuse them its better.
I remember watching your video when I made my wedding cake. I just uploaded how i made my fondant wedding cake video to my channel and you were so helpful!

Hello, great channel I have learnt alot from you. I would like to ask you to give us a fondant and gum paste recipe and tutorial. I have difficulties with them. Thank you.
Love this, can I ask your advice as to how to stop fondant from tearing around top edge. I have tried using dummies but fondant always tears and its so annoying. I have tried smoothing the edges first but I have same problem. Thank you
Thank you for doing this tutorial. I used a dummy cake that had a heart cut threw the middle. I had no clue what I was doing, thank goodness it was only family that saw it. Lol😅. Now maybe next time, I can show one off.
Hi Karen, You are very welcome. I am just so glad it will be useful to you. Good luck covering your dummy cake next time. The ones with the cutouts can be a little tricky. If you ever have any questions just let me know.
Hi, yes from the point when I cover the dummy cake in fondant it would be the same technique you would use to cover a cake which is covered in buttercream. I have a more detailed video explaining the way I cover cakes in fondant, smoothing it onto the cake and getting sharp edges. I have put a link to this in the description below the video and a link at the end if this would also be of use to you.
Hi, Because fondant dries hard once it has been used on a dummy cake you wouldn't be able to use it again but you can definitely reuse the dummy cakes over and over again.
Hi, Yes definitely. Once you are ready to strip the dummy cake off I usually really carefully try and push in a knife at the bottom and leaver the fondant off. You can then wash the dummy cake and leave it to dry.
This was very helpful, had no idea that the polystyrene could dissolve with certain glues. Was about to put hot glue gun on mine, that would've been a mess!
