Yes, the main street is busy but as you say, you only have to walk down some of the side streets and it is quite peaceful. Do you currently live in Bali? It is something I would consider for at least part of the year to get away from our Melbourne winters.

Absolutely the book&movie brought in a lot of excess tourists&to amuse myself I saw one of healers in Ubud from book&she raised price read my palm&,made things up&left me on massage table when group of US ladies ahowed up. Yes,my quiet street became busy with Ubud market extras although one person recognises me from many years back. I love the Ubud culture although tourists can get somewhat lala. I go into shop where lady gets pet portraits. I cannot believe the $6 veg buffet gets complaints for putting price up by $1 after many years. There was a lady in street selling sarongs happy to talk although I speak no Indonesian Suksma

I like your style so i subbed .You gave quite a lot of info in a short video .I am about the same age as you and hope to go to Bali around Christmas time .Last time i was there was 15 years ago so things will have changed .Have you been up North to Lovina ? I will likely be coming by bus from Java and may make my way up there first .I know that its far quieter than down South .Has beaches with black sand from what i saw on other videos .

Wayne here's a suggestion. Do like Gabriel Traveler and some other vloggers do. Do the walk and talk and giving local tips vlog but show more of what's in front of you and a little of you.
No need to change anything - I love your style, you have a natural story teller voice. Watching your videos I feel instantly calm and transported to another place. I used to love watching Warren McLean - Bali Life Me vlog. I think you have a similar style in some ways.

Money changers?????? That’s something from a century ago!! Use a credit card and go to an ATM! Your trust on a money changer is neglecting the fact that most if not all money changers are rogue.
Money changers haven't got the greatest reputation, that's for sure. I think everyone has preferences as to how they travel due to personal experience. I've had card fraud/theft before while traveling so I'm reluctant to have that experience again. Cash works for me, and of course you should use what works for you. Cheers.
Interestingly, there was a woman and guy behind me telling him not to talk to me. The camera can make some people a bit nervous, or as you say, he couldn't speak English.
