This has to be my longest soundtrack recreation yet, about 8 hours of work went into this! I'd be really greatful if you could leave a like/comment if you enjoyed it. As for the episode, another masterclass on every level. Stay tuned for part 2!
I really wanna know what the actress thinks of her character’s feelings; her expressions are so revealing but I just wanna know that she went out how she wanted to go out, not that she thought she had to
@SpookyGhostGoku she could have fled if she wanted too 100%. Meleys is the fastest dragon currently alive in the show. Guess she felt guilty about not "ending" the war sooner. Idk I have some gripes with this show adaption...but this battle was more good than bad imo.
@@onialex64 well in the very same episode we are told about “80 years of peace” right? Meyles didn’t fight the step stones conflict either. It doesn’t matter if you go by show or book lore/logic, there is no evidence of Meleys and Rhaenys entering battle before. This was a good episode, the battle was epic, and the dialogue in question was cute (although it made me laugh because it’s just untrue).
@@ChadfromChad the book does say Meleys was no stranger to battle so it does matter if you are going by the books. Also 80 years of peace does not mean there were no conflicts on a smaller scale like the one we saw at step stones
I love how this soundtrack isn't exactly triumphant. The rhythm and drums constantly creates a very stressful beat that convey the sense of upcoming horror very very well. The swelling choir is mournful showing how Rhaenys never really expected to come out of this alive. There's no real rage, triumph, or what most would consider a sense of epic. It's stressful, tense and mournful which speaks very very loudoy of the rest of the dance. Very good soundtrack that I think lays out the theme of what the rest of the series will be: the death of a house and the extinction of its dragons
While the usual Targaryen themes give us hope and that mystical , magical feeling, and fill us with the energy to go conquer something, this masterpiece gave me the sense of utter thrill with a sense of a great impending doom. Perfect, as this is a war of complete annihilation. The Dance of the Dragons. The war of Fire and Blood.
That is exactly Ramin's arrangement. It's the inverse Daenerys Targaryen theme. Because dragons are rising to glory with her theme (now the targaryen theme) this song is the fall of the targaryens...the arrangement is genius
@@jackelinevalladares7118 I'm a book reader. Back when this series was first announced, I was over the moon with excitement. But now, I don't wanna watch more dragons get killed. Sadly, I know exactly who's gonna die and how 😢
@@jackelinevalladares7118 can't wait to see what Ramin cooks up for Vhagar vs Caraxys. Gonna have to keep some tissues handy before that episode. But I think it won't be shown in this season, no? There's so much more that happens between Meleys vs Vhagar and Caraxys vs Vhagar if I remember right.
Fantastic! The deep and mournful cello leading up to the battle. Soon as Rhaenys volunteers to meet Cole it begins. Ramin is a genius, and thank you for posting this!
2:52-3:08 is really where the emotions hit for me. That switch is so beautiful. The music perfectly fits the decision to make the “heroic sacrifice” to try take Vhagar out
I love the last minute and a half-a mournful rendition of the Crown of Jahaerys (losing a beloved Team Black ally and dragon) turning into a sinister, villainous end bc Aemond prevailed
Amazing work in such a very short time. Its been only 14 hours since episode was released. And soundtrack is very long. All hail the Lord Jeremy of House Brauns!!
Hahahah thank you! Yeah I got up early since the episodes air at 3am around here. Took me about 8 hours to recreate it, probably my longest one to date, my head hurts!
The Queen Who Never Was but indeed Blazing & Majestic To The Last. Furthermore, she took the Fiery Tongued Grandma of Westeros trope to a whole new level.
No idea what is going on, i watched a few episodes and fell in love with the huge dragon, his obedience, skills in hiding, to ambush even with that size goddamn! He's one impressive dragon and his rider is really awesome
Some thoughts on dragon tactics: I personally would start up high and dive on opponents, trying to catch them by surprise and possibly even striking out of the sun like a fighter plane. However, dragon v dragon combat hasn't happened for hundreds of years, presumably the Valyrians wrote treatises on such matters, but these books are long gone. The Blacks haven't deploy their assets carefully and are playing the consequences, but throughout westeros history dragon just equals win, so training dragons to fight as a group, flying formation cover each other's six ect has never been even considered. They are going to have to learn this lesson quickly. The only one schooled in dragon fighting tactics tactics is not a human but Vhagar. She is highly intelligent and very old, she remembers Aegon the uncrowned vs Maegor and has consistently struck at other dragons out of ambush from below like a shark or another large predator. She is already the most powerful being alive , but she uses every advantage she has to minimise risk and ensure victory.
Really well done! 3:07 was my personal favourite part. The combination of the shot of Rhaenys telling Meleys to go in for the attack again, the slow somber variation of the Targaryen Theme building up to to this beautiful part with Meleys flying back was just everything. The music really enhanced the whole scene so much ♥
@@GoldBanks60it reminded me of Daenerys charging at the scorpions upon the walls of Kings Landing in season 8 after destroying the Iron Fleet - heading straight towards the danger from below the castle above the sea and then rising up 😅 but yes, definitely a nice touch!
The first episode in the series that really touched me. I had hoped the Dance of the Dragons would be later in the season, Rhaenys was my favourite character. Badass lady.
This sounds a lot like an Act 2 to the song that plays when the Green's leave King's landing in the previous episode, I really love the cohesion between the music and the show like this, just another layer of depth to the series to show you just how amazing the production team for this show is.
The whole score for Rooks Rest is amazing but for me 'The Fall' followed by 'Vhagar Soars' is just absolutely incredible. The violin in 'The Fall' makes the death of Rhaenys & Meleys so impactful, just pure sadness followed by the deep and ominous powerful brass section in 'Vhagar Soars'. Brilliant music :)
I had the pleasure of seeing Ramin Djawadi live in his tour around Europe somewhere between season 6 and 7 of Game of Thrones. My only wish is to see another concert of his, House of the Dragon exclusive. Because the soundtrack for this one episode outperformed Light of the Seven for me. Chills, man. Chills throughout the whole build up and the battle. And I went in, knowing what the outcome would be.
I saw these battle scenes again today and finally went back and watched GoT last two episodes. Just feels surreal. That these were the ancestors and how great they were. The Dance was really the last time the Targaryens were all powerful and then came Dany. I think for future generations, they should watch HoD first and then watch GoT.
I honestly can't relive this moment in the series. I know that having a favorite character is curse in this universe, but I did, and Rhaenys and Meleys were two of them. I want them to get away from there every time. I understand why she didn't have Meleys dracarys the shit out of everyone when Aegon was crowned, people don't buy her excuse, but I do...people would see her do that, and it'd do much more damage to her reputation and to Rhaenyra's claim. Rhaenys deciding to turn around, almost like she regrets not doing that, is still the fucking bravest thing I've seen in these shows. She has a chance to try and take down one of the biggest dragons that the greens have, and decides to take it. She knows Meleys has already fought one dragon and may not be able to defeat Vhagar, but she goes for it anyway. I think also, her learning of/or just seeing one of her husband's bastards may have swayed her abit in that decision. He would not be left alone even though he betrayed her. Her one person/being that she could truly count on was Meleys. The bond the two of them shared was beautiful to watch the few times that we got to see it. The sadness in her eyes when she sees Meleys die cements their bond, even as they fall to their deaths. I could probably write a freaking novel about this.... Rhaenys deserved SO MUCH MORE than she got, but she died a dragon-rider's death, amidst fire and blood, and for that I cannot help but love her.
This is a great job that deserves so many views! Alas, for me so far this season there is very little worthwhile music. Djawadi's assistants don't want to do a good job =)))
