So season 1 was the backstory, season 2 was the setting up and season 3 will be the war itself, season 4 will probably be the decline

This is probably the best OST from both series, it included all the factions theme songs in it as well, Lannister, stark, the scene between alicent and Rhaenyra and also I think the sect being blown up by Cersei. Monumental theme, and the vocals take it to 1000000. Over epic shit.
i remember reading somewhere that Ramin Djawadi rarely really puts the piano in the foreground of his tracks. The first time the piano was put in the instrumental lead was in GoT 6x10 where Cersei blows up and the Sept and she is subsequently crowned as queen (Track name: Light of the Seven). Someone even pointed out that the sound of the piano signals a major plot twist. imagine the way my heart dropped when the piano came in. we're in a for an epic season 3.

I did notice that the Rains of Castamere theme was in there, despite that song being based on Tywin's actions only a few decades before GoT begins. But I like to think the theme pre-dates those events, and is just the general anthem of House Lannister, that was just put to those lyrics later on.
I’m literally crying. The tone of this music is one that greatly mixes emotions and the profound reality of the events that will unfold in the next season. This theme is a war and fight theme but the tone is for sure an allusion that suggests that it will be a costly war and great sacrifice from both sides. I almost cried, quite touching part, a horrible war is coming, armies assembling from big houses, Ramin Djawadi has done a masterpiece, he has a right to set the iron throne.
i think the frustration comes from how it was advertised. they made it out to be a bunch of shit happening in season 2, and we got like 1 battle lmao. it was definitely impacted by the writers strike though. the fact that we waited almost 2 years is tough.
I still enjoy the show and don't mind the pacing toooo much but i think people are just annoyed about basically 2 seasons of buildup without all that much payoff yet. I would have really enjoyed it if there was a bigger finale that made the slow buildup this season feel more worth it and didn't have to wait a couple years just to get that payoff in season 3
