    Great video! Very well put together and informative.

    My psa 47 bolt broke a tooth off next to the extractor after 4-500 rounds. Mostly steel cased ammo. So I replaced it with a bra bolt, very well built and slick. As a backup I also picked up a kak carrier/bolt, super nice too. Red x arms make a very good enhanced firing pin, FYI. Some follow up vids of your builds down at the range would be great, maybe some ammo accuracy comparison. Thanks for the video.

      Thanks for sharing your BCG experience. What happen to you is consistent with the research I’ve seen. As far as follow up videos, I will be doing various videos on wear to the barrel, bcg, Tubbs flat wire buffer spring and anything else I can think of, but ammo won’t be one. I’m a believer in “buy cheap and stack deep”. I build my Firearms to run the cheap stuff. If they don’t, I can’t afford to run them.

    I have had a Colt 7.62x39mm 16 inch HBAR Upper that I had since 1997 it took till about 2010 when C-Products came out with their 30rd mags, Wolff Extra Power Hammer Springs, Damage Industries Enhanced Recoil Buffer Springs they are USA made chrome silicon spring wire and the Kaw Valley Precision AR-15 One Piece Gas Ring allow for the AR and the AK to be a Match made in Heaven!
    For 13 years I felt like I made a mistake by buying the Colt Upper but I never gave up hope that someone would make the necessary parts to make the upper as reliable as any other made in 556. I use the Wolff Extra Power Hammer Spring on all the ARs that I build but I also Stone the Trigger area where the Hammer mates with it till all imperfections are gone and I have a near mirror finish that helps cut down the trigger weight I normally get my triggers around 4.5-5 LB which is about correct for a Tactical Carbine. I found an OLD Military Manual in a Gun Show about 10 years ago that showed how the USMC was supposed to worked on the Marksmanship Team Rifles in Quantico the Manual is from the mid-80s but it shows how to polish the action of different competition firearms to get better performance out them.

      Glad to hear your build worked out in the end. I’m very happy with all aspects of this rifle so far. I tried a one piece gas ring on a previous AR15 build, it didn’t pass the “standing the bcg on the bolt face” test. It collapsed right away. Since then, I’ve just stuck with the standard gas ring set up without incident. I’ve also found that using the Tubbs flat wire buffer spring with a standard buffer has produced good results. The increased weight on the trigger turned out to be a lot less of an issue then I originally thought it would be. If it does bother me in the future, I might look into the trigger modifications that you mentioned. Thanks.

      @@ajcj1970 Thank you for the Heads Up on the Tubbs Flat Wire Buffer Spring I will be checking it out as well as the Enhanced Firing pin and modification on of the Magazines. I have several ASC magazines that make the shells hang up but the mod will defenetly fix that issue I had been thinking about but been too busy with other life issues to play with it. At least the C-Products Mags are good to go and work Great with the Winchester PDX1 Defender ammo is a great hunting and Home Defense load and it works great on my other 7.62x39mm RIfles the Sig 556R Gen 2 and Ruger Mini-30 Gen1.
      Sorry to hear that you had issues with the one piece gas ring! I found them back in 2012 as a Brownells suggestion when I was in the middle of 2 rebuild on some buddies ARs and I was all out of rings ( I normally keep at least 3 sets) but at the time I had a rush of everyone I know wanting me to upgrade, detail clean, and just plain fix years of neglect in a very short term. I ordered 10 of the rings but before I put them into my buddies rifles I put one in my own mid-length Hbar Home Defense Carbine that I use for 2 gun matches and to test ammo and or whatever new gadget I get since its I build it like a Tank and ran 500 rounds of XM193 55gr 5.56 Lake City Federal Ammo and it ran it like a champ! I did notice that the single ring has a tendency to increase the Bolt Velocity since very little gas is getting out in comparison to the 3 normal rings. Since I run H1 buffers and the Enhanced springs the little extra felt recoil is extremely manageable.
      The single gas ring is even better served in a Rifle configuration like my Mk12ish build which has rifle buffer and tube with a 18 inch barrel and a Mid-Length Gas system since that is the system that Daniel Defense was offering on that barrel at the time now I believe they also have the Rifle length but the mid-length pulse is a much pleasant recoil impulse than the Carbine would ever be.
      You may also want to check out Double Star AR-15/M16 TWANG BUSTER 100-005-392WB it does way with the noise that you hear every time the action cycles due to harmonics in the buffer tube. Check it

    200 rounds fired just isn't enough use and abuse to come up with a complete assessment. I'd love to hear your assessment and observation after 5,000 rounds.

    • @ajcj1970

      I agree. I will be doing update videos on this firearm as specific round counts come along. I wanted to document the build from “start to finish”. I consider the first 200 rounds to be my function test. I plan to document bolt wear patterns, long term accuracy with barrel wear, any concerns or thoughts on the Tubbs flat wire buffer spring and the other components of this build.

    Extended firing pin. No need for a heavier hammer spring.

    • @ajcj1970
      @ajcj1970  5 років тому +2

      All the research that I did indicated that the combination of the enhanced firing pin and the extra power hammer spring would give me less chance of any ammo related malfunction. As of now, I’ve seen no ill effects of using the heavier hammer spring and $5 seemed a small price to pay for the piece of mind. With this being my first AR47 build, I was doing all that I could to make it 100% reliable, which, so far it is.

      I’ve got 500 rounds through mine with just an extended firing pin. No extra power spring. I’ve shot only steel ammo with Tula and Wolf and haven’t had a single FTF or light primer strike. Bear Creek Arsenal upper and PSA lower.

      Well done sir. My idea for going to this Caliber was to get effective rounds for hog hunting without spending 300 Blackout money. It's not uncommon for me to shoot 30 rounds or more on a hog hunt.

    Where did u get that decal thats on the MAG?

    • @ajcj1970

      It’s a MAGBAND magazine identification band. It’s pretty much a large, high quality rubber band with the caliber marked on it. I do say in the video where I purchased it. I don’t want to write it out because It will be entered as a link in this reply and you never know how UA-cam will respond to that. The site is the name plus a “dot com”.

    Accracy?

    • @ajcj1970
      @ajcj1970  5 років тому +1

      This carbine is just as accurate as any of my other 7.62 x 39 rifles. I guess I should say, accuracy is going to depend on the operator.

    • @beretta989
      @beretta989 5 років тому +1

      So 2-3moa?

    • @ajcj1970
      @ajcj1970  5 років тому +1

      Sorry, didn’t realize you wanted me to be specific. I’m limited to an indoor 50 yard range, where I was shooting groups of five rounds and getting roughly a 3 or 4 inch spread (minus one “flier”). So if you’re considering a minute of angle as one inch at a hundred yards, I guess I was hitting roughly a 6 to 8 inch MOA. I’m not the greatest shot and my 4 MOA red dot was covering most of my 8 inch diameter targets. So In my opinion, this rifle would be way more accurate with a decent scope mounted on it and someone with a little more skill behind it. Hope that answered your question. It’s the best I can do. This video was “more or less” a function run, maybe the next one I’ll slap a scope on it, sit it in a sled and see what it can do.
