    Genius, I just installed a CTR on my AK and was thinking how I could remove the riser quickly to use iron sights if need be. This is a really elegant clever solution.

    The worst .22 pistol that ever exists in the history of guns. You can get yourself killed or injured by this gun. It is quite difficult for me to operate and the design really sucks to the core.

    I love mine, for the price it’s a great shooter! It’s accurate and reliable as far as 22 goes. I’ve even bought extra recoil springs, a firing pin and firing pin spring just in case. You get one hell of a wallop for your dollar buying this fun little shooter. Only downside is the safety’s are so redundant and unnecessary. For the money you can’t beat it though.

    Thank you for posting; this is an excellent video, great info and concise presentation. Given that this is for entertainment purposes only and should in no way be considered advice or instruction; hypothetically speaking, what effect do you believe overshot cards might have, aside from increased OAL?

    • @ajcj1970
      @ajcj1970 2 місяці тому

      During this project I tried 0,1,2, and 3 overshot cards under the slug. The only diffrence that I noticed was, when a overshot card is not used at all, the wad will be forced into the empty cavity on the bottom of the slug and will not release. There was no diffrence between 1,2, and 3. I will say that I've started utilizing the shell boxes and a 5/8th craft punch for my overshot cards. Now I use two, just because the cardboard on the shell box isn't as thick as a "store bought" overshot card.

    Cheap gun designed by California lawyers. I have the HP22. Some say HP22A is worse. Do the common safety/slide latch/magazine interlock mod, so the manual of arms becomes more normal (and safer). Then push the superfluous slide mounted firing pin block safety UP and secure it with epoxy, so it won’t drop and apply itself during a string of fire. Trigger is still poor, and reset very long. But sights are acceptable for a mouse gun. If you keep it very clean and lubed, it should be fairly reliable with hi-speed ammo. Aftermarket springs are available. I’m thinking of carefully polishing the feed ramp. If you can afford something better, don’t trust your life to Phoenix. But it is fun.

    I've had mine for nearly 19 years. Love it. Shot thousands of rounds through it, and it's been great. Customer service is awesome. Sent my slide in for service, and it was lost in the mail. Phoenix arms sent a new slide completely free. Wasn't their fault in any way. Takes a little getting used to with the extra safeties, but once you get it down it's second nature. Great gun and a great price. Great video. Thanks for sharing

    What if you put some wax on the trip

    • @ajcj1970
      @ajcj1970 10 місяців тому

      I have seen videos where they do that for crimped birdshot rounds for “waterproofing”. If you’re referring to the slug against the primer in the tubular magazine, I’m not too concerned about accidental detonation, the research that I’ve seen makes me think that is very unlikely to happen. I also think that adding wax would increase the amount of pressure needed to fire the round, which I was trying to avoid.

    Hello, thanks for your review. i just bought this from a friend. When I took it to the range, i noticed that as i shot it was kicking the mag out causing it to jam. Any clue how to fix that?

    • @ajcj1970
      @ajcj1970 10 місяців тому

      This issue is new to me. My first guess would be, the way you grip the firearm, you might be hitting the mag release while operating the firearm. Try firing the weapon with just your right hand (or in a manner that nothing is anywhere near the mag release) and see if you still have the issue. My next thought would be a possible worn out mag release, depending on how many rounds have been put through it.

    I never understand why people use dogshit foreign ammo and then complain their gun doesn't run smoothly. CCi ammo is american made and still cheap, I've never had a single failure to feed out of American ammo with this gun. Not one.

    I start by checking that the can for one will steal sral by filling it with water and turning it upside down, if it passes, it's dried, then sandblasted inside and out. The recoated with 3 coats of Epoxy Enamel, heat curing between each coat. Silicone treatment of the gasket, and graphite lubrication of all moving parts of the can.

      Doing that voided the warranty if you add a piece of cut paper clip under the bar gives enough clearance to eliminate that safety you can remove it if needed

    Have you had any issues of the magazines baseplates falling off?

    • @ajcj1970
      @ajcj1970 Рік тому

      I have not. This is the first I've ever heard of this issue. Are you letting them hit the ground during reloads? If so, they could have been damaged in some way. Do you have one that functions properly? If so, compare, see if there's anything different. sorry i couldn't be more helpful.

      @ajcj1970 I have the original flush mount and the extension mag I bought separately. I don't drop those mags. I used it 3x and I loaded it the other day and the extension base plate fell out

    • @ajcj1970
      @ajcj1970 Рік тому

      My first thought would be that the after market base plate is defective in some way. Any way you can return it for replacement, then see if the problem continues with a new one.

    Where do you get your materials. I want to do this because you can not buy a 16 gauge slug 😒

    • @ajcj1970
      @ajcj1970 Рік тому

      Well, the point of this project was to use the materials provided in the box of bird shot rounds (hull, lead, primer, powder and cup). The things that I actually had to purchase for this project where the slug mold, roll crimp and overshot cards ( the overshot cards you could make out of the box that the birdshot comes in, if you have or purchase a punch).
