Thank you Malik for choosing to stay in Sac. Hopefully the Kings will go deep in the playoffs this coming postseason. But now we know for 82 games Sacramento fans will have the privilege of watching a special player who loves basketball and plays with an infectious joy.

Malik making an early decision helps the Kings before the draft so they can still focus on upgrading the power forward position. Malik definitely could have gotten more but the compatibility with sabonis and fox insures his effectivity going forward and that played a part in Monks decision. Great day for Sac.

Unless they get a defensive versatile stopper they are not going anywhere or deep in the playoffs. They need to trade Huerter, Barnes. Go after Toppin, draft defense and look for more defense. unless they get their Greene, Gordon, Tucker, White player they can't get past first round.

Malik most definitely could've got more $$ elsewhere, but chose to reup with sacramento. He wants to be HERE and that's a big deal for kings fans. This man is loyal and Sacramento will love him forever for that. He shouldn't have to ever buy a meal or drink in the 916 again!

I still like DaRon Holmes more than any of the feasible trade options for a long wing. Everyone we could afford to trade for that's that kind of player with our assets is some combination of expensive as hell and injury prone.

Immediately made monk a pretty memorable king of all time. Especially because he did this deal before he had to basically just to help us continue drafting/trading.
And also the fact that he had offers with more money and he still chose to stay in Sacramento just shows that he loves it here and it means a lot to us!
If the Kings acquire another starting forward who can provide defense, and can move Barnes to the bench, I love Monk starting. He’ll certainly get more minutes if Huerter’s not a King next fall.

Size/defense is a must for this team on draft night . Deron Homes II, Cody Williams, Ron Hollands, Tidjane Salaun, Tristan da Silva , Yves Missi. One of those guys will be there. Monk is a starter, (Hurter, Ellis, Jones, Mitchell) can battle for the first guy off the bench.

Great news. It would have been impossible to replace what he brings to the table using the mid-level exception or bi-annual exception. Now got to make some more moves. Running it back should not be an option.

What about keeping the 13th pick and trading Barnes and a future first for Kuzma then using the 13th pick on Zach Edey. Edey is a physical freak and will distort defenses with his gravity. He and Sabonis will also collect ALL the rebounds. With regard to his speed I will simply point to Yao Ming. He's faster than Yao. What do you think?

Monk is a huge part of the team and his injury hurt us badly late in the season, I'm glad he's staying in Sac.
It was the smartest decision of his career.
I would've hated seeing him on another team and it not working out for him or continuing to switch teams like from Charlotte to LA
I wasn't even stressing about Malik resigning or not. I though it would be strange if he went to another team just to get that bag when the whole reason he even signed with the kings was probably because of De'Aaron Fox's influence. Why would he leave his friend when that was one of the main reasons he came here? Malik even started having some of his best season performances of his career here in Sacramento so why would he leave to a new environment? Also knowing how much he loves this city and the fans with how loyal his personality seems to be I would be confused if he left but understanding because at the end of the day you gotta do whats best for you.

If you chase the money, it can actually cost you in the long run. Monk is perfect in his role with the team. He will more than likely play well in these next 3-4 years, thus he will sign another big contract. Pretty sure Marbury, and Stevie Francis doomed their careers by playing in New York.

He can focus on Grant, Bridges, Kuzma, Duren, and or Wiseman to name a few or Edey if he still available. Kings can trade Duarte, Len, Ford, Kessler and Lyles. If Washington needs Barnes and the 13th pick for Kuzma go for it.

Great that Monk resigned. But the truth is the Kings were a play in team with him. The Kings did not get worse, but this ends up being a status quo deal.
You would only get Lavine now if you're trading Heurter for him.
If I were the coach, I would let Monk come off the bench. Not because he is not a capable starter but, more of like a fit kind of thing. A lot of what the Sacramento Kings do is based on Sabonis being the playmaker. Unfortunately, that does not work in the playoffs as you've seen so many times he gets bottled up and performs below average.
If I were the coach, I would focus on Fox and Murray take on the offensive roles in the starting lineup giving them a lot of touches to average close to 30 points a game each. That means what the starting lineup need is a defensive player who can score when needed, Keon Ellis fits this role very, very well.

Monk staying, Sacramento could use all the help they can get considering that the road to Western Conference playoffs got a lot tougher with Caruso now at OKC. Monk staying does a lot of good things for the Sacramento Kings. First and foremost, I firmly believe that Monk, not Fox, not Sabonis, not Barnes, is the fearless leader of the the Sacramento Kings. Having Monk, now you can draft a big like, Kel'el Ware. He could be the perfect lob partner for Monk. At only 19 years old, his sophomore numbers were impressive. Unfortunately, there are no sure things in this year's draft. BUT, there are several intriguing talents that you could come away with somebody like, a Jimmy Butler, Dejounte Murray, Gobert, Siakam, Kuzma, Anunoby, Looney, Jarrett Allen, Josh Hart... Not like in 2022 draft, I was so sure of Jalen Duren, Jalen Williams, Mathurin, Jeremy Sochan...that I wouldn't mind Sacramento trading down for more assets at that time. Defense was really big during the playoffs and championship, the offensive numbers were down a lot. We'll see if your Sacramento Kings go on the defensive or more offense.
There is something to be said for the love the Kings players feel from our great fans! This along with coach Brown and DeAaron, I feel had a lot to do with it!

I am just waking up to the news of Monk "The King" resigning and I am beyond elated. This is a prime example of Monk's leadership and who he is as a man and a player. It's official the Kings just won the offseason! So now it's time to frost the cake, Monte if you are listening Jerry Reynolds brought up a interesting player currently on Indy.... Here lets take the 13th pick Shasa and a conditional pick for Jalen Smith. The biggest needs now are wing depth and yeah wing depth
Said it at the end of the season, Malik was staying. Can we now stop all the apoplectic panic in the local media about the Kings franchise.
First it was Coach Brown’s extension , now this extension. Can we finally put to rest that the Kings front office and ownership are rudderless, incompetent, indecisive, and cash strapped. That might be the old Kings after the Petrie years, but I trust Monte and Wes, and I think they are doing the best they can to move this franchise in the right direction, while not taking imprudent risks.
