The good twin decides he wants to retire. His less good twin wants to keep playing. They decide to get the less good twin a job masquerading as the good twin in some foreign country where no one knows them. Great story (even if it’s not true).

I'd argue it's impossible for two adults who have lived apart in different environments to have the same antibodies on their systems. One must have a medical history that the other doesn't. They may have been born with the same DNA but they sure as hell have had different things happen to them since that point.

There's a bulgarian film with this exact plot. 2 twin-brothers: one talented footballer, the other - lazy gambler party-boy. The player skips town and goes to Sofia to search for a girl he met. The no-good twin pretends to be the player so he can have a transfer and score some money. The kick is - he can not really play football. Both end up in Sofia. Hillarity ensues. The film is a slapstick comedy from the 50s, and it culminates with a Cup Final match and the party-boy finally has to play in it... (the film is Lyubimetz 13 (1958))

God... Zealand discovered our championship. Wait until he hears about the double teams (2 Steauas and 2 Universitatea Craiovas) and how one Craiova (FCU, not CSU) had 7 managers this past season. We're the new Turkey, except with titles decided in court rooms and seasons starting without anyone knowing all the teams taking part in the championship, only for one team to be eliminated after a few matches into the season and replaced with another one.

Don't forget the 3 (or 4, idfk anymore) Dinamos, a Poli Iasi team that used the brand of the traditional Iasi team (CSMS Politehnica Iasi) with no problem whatsoever up until they promoted to the SuperLiga, the OBNOXIOUS amount of teams that got dissolved right after winning the championship and playing in the UCL (that happened in the last 15 years: Unirea Urziceni, Otelul Galati or Astra Giurgiu just to name a few), and so so much more.
We are not becoming a version of Turkey, it's not even fucking close.
Turkey at least kept alive its most traditional teams. All top 3 clubs in Bucharest (Rapid, Dinamo and Steaua) went through bankruptcy, separation due to conflicts of interests and outrageous events that made the court decisions meaningless to the public eye due to some influential oligarchs that saw football teams just as a form of investment (lol) and publicity.
And that is just Bucharest. FROM THE BEGINNING OF COMMUNISM. Young people know jack shit about the beginnings of the Romanian football and it is distressing to me.
Only 2 teams founded before 1945 still exist - in some way - today: Rapid and Metalul/CSM Reşița (mé-ta-lool ré-chi-zza)*.
We are our own case of study, until we don't learn about how things went historically, we cannot progress.

    • @bogdan8686
      @bogdan8686 4 місяці тому +7

      Oh, and how about this:
All Romanian league champions from the beginning (1909) until 1950 got dissolved at least once.
Maybe it's a good starting point to see how "special" our football truly is.

As a Dinamo fan, some context:
    1. The journalist who broke this story, Daniel Sendre, is a bit of a joke at Dinamo today. To us, the rumor lacked substance to begin with because of the source.
    2. Florin Prunea is the FORMER Dinamo president. He only really has a ceremonial role in the club nowadays, which mostly consists of him bigging up Dinamo when we win and tearing into them and making bullshit criticisms when we lose. Not a fan of his personally.
    3. The story was leaked right before Dinamo's last match of the season against UTA Arad, which would decide whether Dinamo would be relegated to the 2nd tier or not, with other results also needing to go our way for us to not go down (they did). It's very possible that Sendre planned to leak this story before the game to draw attention to himself because everything that has to do with Dinamo gets tons of clicks in Romania, with Dinamo being a very successful and well-supported club.
    4. Edgar suffered a knee injury earlier this season and has surgery which left a scar on his knee, so it would have been obvious if it hadn't been Edgar all along.
    5. Edgar actually looked decent in the few games he played and even kept a clean sheet at Dinamo, so I don't understand how people can be duped into thinking that a right winger who had played at a much lower standard was playing instead.
    6. Even though the story is definitely made up, it is likely that our current club president, Andrei Nicolescu, did actually believe Edelino had been playing for us, given that he's not and has never been a football fan. Yes, that's Romania for you, our club president isn't a football person.

They haven't been the best team in... probably 20 years. Last time they won a title was in 2007. They never really played in the Champions League, like ever... last time they played in the competition, it was called the Champions Cup, in something like 1990 or 1991. They did play in the qualifiers, but never made it to the group stage. They're still the 2nd most prestigious club in the country, after Steaua, but they're a shadow of their former selves. Mismanagement and financial issues hurt them a lot, and even with the Federation being lenient, they were still relegated. I think they'll survive the relegation play-off, but still... they're nowhere near what they used to be. I was watching some old timey derbies: Steaua (my team) vs Dinamo and the late 1990s - early 2000s Dinamo team would wipe the floor with their current team and they must be like 50-something years old now.

@@luislamarosa9681 This has to be this commenter's bs story, I can't find any records of Hogan visiting Guinea Bissau let alone this story being verifiable.

Regular DNA testing won't show any differences between identical twins.
Full sequencing would be needed, which is as thorough as it gets for DNA testing.
With that in mind, full DNA sequence of identical twins should also appear identical in theory, but random mutations can make it such that a tiny fraction of their DNA is not identical.
A study of 381 pairs of twins found that 39 pairs shared every single base pair, so 100.00% identical DNA.
On average the twins differed by 5.2 base pairs out of roughly 3 billion, so 99.9999998% identical on average.
And 38 pairs of twins had DNA sequences differing by more than 100 base pairs, so 'only' 99.999997% identical.
So roughly 10% of identical twins were truly identical. Another 10% were as 'little' as 99.999997% identical, and the rest were somewhere between.
They should have different fingerprints and eyes though, so fingerprinting and iris or retinal scanning can tell them apart.
