Logitech should be ashamed of themselves for offering such garbage software as G Hub. Having to go through all this just to change the onboard memory lighting is just stupid. Thanks for the video.
I still don't get how the on board memory works. I make a profile, and I can only change the colors through free style. And then for some reason, when I turn on, on-board memory, and choose that profile. The colors go back to the default rainbow instead of the color I picked on that profile.
I think the problem is saving a Freestyle is NOT possible, only Presets can be saved, like in this video (solid colors). And that's shi... I want to switch different color setups for keys with M1, M2 and M3 (G-Hub turned off) ... seems not work. I need this feature, because I use the keyboard on a KVM-switch and the other computers don't have G-Hub installed. This is much more needed/useful than a coloring which matches the screen colors ... who needs this ???
@@tomwob1642 I just worked myself through this G-Hub mess and can confirm that saving Freestyle profiles (e.g. individual colors for each key) to M1-M3 buttons works, your post is 11 months old so maybe it didn't work back then.
How did you get it to work?! Omg please share@@Roman-nu1om because I just got my g915 today and am having the same issues as the other replies above you.
I have had G502 for 7 years and finally few days ago I learned how to use onboard memory. Mouse was so hard to set up that I have been too scared to change it too much, because I may not get it back to work. There would be so many different things, which could easily be improved to make this app much more straight forward to use. Although, I must say that they have improved the software from what it was earlier. It works more reliably and this onboard memory thing seems to be much better than this automatic switching, which simply just doesn't work like 70% of the time.
When I make changes to the profiles, they change the settings to all other profiles to match it. THEN when I go and try to assign these to the on-board memory, it just gives me the color vomit for all of them. Incredibly frustrating
Just bought a coolermaster SK653 to replace my Logitech 815 What a breath of fresh air after using G-Hub :) The Coolermaster "MasterPlus" software is SOO EASY. You start the app and select 1 of 4 onboard profiles. Set it how you want it and then turn the software off. Thanks, I hadn't messed with the logitech controls in ages, and when I did a reinstall I had problems with getting my mouse button for volume up/down able to be held down, rather than pressing the button for tiny increments. This fixed it.
Thank you so much! I was having a problem creating a macro inside Logi's Onboard Memory Manager and I thought I couldn't avoid having to use G Hub, but with this tutorial I created my profile (with the macro I wanted) inside G Hub, saved it to the onboard memory, then deleted the software =)
Thank you! I just found this video whilst trying to figure out how I managed to get the Onboard Memory on my G Pro Wireless mouse to work, but couldn't get it to work on my G502X. I should have been able to figure this out myself but for the life of me I couldn't.
I literally have never seen software that was so bad. I watched the video twice and still couldn't figure out how to load an effect on my G915....I managed to click on everything about 20 times until it finally showed up. I probably wouldn't care that much if I was using this on one computer, but I'm going through a KVM to control three computers...one of them being my work computer. The default rainbow puke ain't going to work and I sure as heck can't install G-hub on it. Anyway thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction.
Thank you so much for sharing this! This is what I've been looking for, desperately, for a few months now. All my custom RBG settings on my G703 Lightspeed mouse were getting lost as soon as my MacBook was going to sleep mode, so annoying esp. considering that I had disabled all battery-draining RBG colors to minimize battery drain and they were turning on as soon the machine goes to sleep, I had to physically switch the mouse off and then back on every single time. All online guides miss the part when you have to SELECT your profile AFTER enabling the onboard memory.
I love the g915 and the g pro x superlight. Coming from Corsair and GMMK, I will say that Logitech software looks nice but is hard to figure out. Even GMMK which is a much smaller company, was able to create a better software experience than Logitech. I think that's ridiculous. Appreciate the no BS quick explanation on how Logitech profiles work. Thank You!
Cheers - very useful video. I was loading 'default' profiles (from various software settings) and it wasn't working. Following your instructions - creating new profiles attached to the 'desktop' settings - worked.
Even now in 2023 onboard memory appears to be only for the lighting affects. You lose all functionality regarding key programing, or even simple macro options like typing already existing characters which is really annoying and not accurately advertised for the G915 I purchased. In my job we type alot of repetitive things and it would have been nice to have that functionality as it was implied in the advertising without using the software as I cannot install third party software on my Work PC.
Can you still use the onboard memory option if you end the process of G Hub in your task manager? It's so awful honestly. Who designed this keyboard? If I use it wired, the lights for some reason turn off after only 5 minutes. Also, if power off my PC, the lights stay on for 5 minutes and do eventually go away but if I press any key even if the PC is off, it lights back up. The keyboard doesn't actually power off automatically like it's supposed to after the PC turns off and I have to keep powering it off and powering it back on each time that I power my PC off and on. Is it too much to ask for the g915TKL to be on when it's on and off when the PC is off? Who actually made this keyboard...
Did everything right but at 5:42 when you say wait 5 seconds, it only does a two dot animation then stops and stays on PROFILE 1. It's killing me... because it keeps using the default, unkeybinded version of the mouse.
This does not work two years later. I did the equivalent steps with how GHub is set up today but it did not work. I can't change the preset lighting effects.
Thanks. I get all that but is there a way to assign a button to toggle the onboard memory on or off? In the macros editor and the assignment section there looks to be a "onboard memory" item in the list... but it does nothing when used in a macro nor assigned to a button on the keyboard or mouse. When using it in a macro, there doesn't seem to be any addition attributes. No on or off states. I'd just like to activate and deactivate the mouse' onboard memory via a button on my keyboard. I don't want to have to open G-Hub every time I want to change it's status. I can change profiles easily with G-hub active, and onboard memory in the off position which means it's being controlled via software, but there is no obvious way to toggle onboard memory of the mouse itself, on or off via a assigned keyboard press. I hope this makes sense. It's an old video but you're the only one that has posted a comprehensive video on the subject. All the others cover profile switching, which is in fact easy. Thanks in advance. I'm not really expecting a reply but I'm crossing my fingers you may have an idea.
The actual answer you guys are probably looking for is @5:43. Thanks, Logitech, for the garbage default mouse DPI. It was worth every bit of $150 for my mouse to keep falling asleep and then having 100000000 DPI when it woke up for months.
just a note to anyone who's been running into this issue - no matter you use Mac or Win computer, if the lighting effect you picked for your keyboard is ECHO PRESS, chances are even if you follow absolutely EVERYHTING this video said, the profile will and can be saved to your keyboard's onboard memory, BUT the ECHO PRESS effect will NOT work.
Ok, I see you're right. I've tried to use the echo effect on my G815 keyboard and thought that saving the lightsync setting to the on-board memory don't work at all, but now I see that if I choose any other effect that it indeed works. What a shame. Thanks for this comment!
I just wanted to set my DPI settings and delete this damn software, and its just so confusing. Thanks for the tutorial, i thought Ghub had to be on the whole time. so annoying
quick question can you use assign specific keys to keyboard buttons like for example cntrl + c for copy to say f1 key and save it to a profile on the onboard memory and use the profile on a computer that does not have the Logitech software?
The one thing I can't work out is how to get the lighting options under the on-board memory mode M slots. Mine just list the name of the profile and always default to colour wave even if that's not what was set. God I hate this software.
In the manual, there's a light effect that can be activated by pressing Lightning Key + Key 4 at the same time. It's a color wave from the bottom up. How do I assign that effect to a profile? Because if I just press Lightning Key + Key 4 to activate this effect, it will return to normal effect after 2 mins.
Is this somehow different for the g815 or am I just dumb? Can't see the lighting overrides on the M profiles. I just want the keyboard to be self-contained and not have to rely on the app for the rgb. They might also have changed the software in 3+ years. I don't see why they'd change it for the worse though.
Thank you, after 2 years of using Logitech I just knew how to activate and use the onboard memory feature. so I don't have to activate n logitech software and make the pc lighter hahaha
This does not work for me unfortunately. After I choose the on-board memory to be the lighting profile I created (and after I wait for it to write onto the keyboard) It just shows the stock RGB colorwave, even though it says my created profile is selected...
Same issue, its driving me insane. I even physically connected my keyboard with the wire to see if that was the issue and its still not working. Desperately need a fix
No mater what I do my color setting do not change. ex profile1 is red. i switch to profile 2 which is suppose to be blue but it is still red. I came from razer synapse and that was a breeze and worked well this is a nightmare.
How can I disable on-board memory slots? I used to have 3 profiles on my mouse, but I don't need that third one anymore. There seem to be no option to remove it. I can restore defaults, but that does not remove it. Therefore, I must always move over this third profile to get to first, this is annoying. I tried to add fourth profile and put the profiles like 1, 2, 1, 2 but for some reason all the actions are not working on the second profile 1. I am amazed how someone can create app this bad.

why is your programming to F1 & F2. I thought the on-board memory was programmed into the M1, M2 & M3 buttons at the top of the keyboard? When I follow all of these step, neither F1, F2, or any of the M1 buttons retains my setting. Frustrating.
Also here. Any fix? How can it be this doesnt work on such an expensive keyboard? I dont want to run ghub in the background all the time to have my g keys working...
EDIT: I got it. You need to Save to Effect TO THE DEVICE. You can save effects to the memory in the settings of the keyboard. After that, select it from the Preset menu under Lighting. Then reload the preset to the M-button
im trying this and its just not working i save it to the slot and it has the new profile name on it but its still the default slots animation that im trying to replace !!!
damn... Is way more easy to use the HyperX Software, also I did something to my keyboard and now every profile I save doesn't save cuz below the profiles I set something called "Free style" and now always use the free Style for the profile over the regular light profile I put
i dont have any fn keys on my G915 lol. Any Fn (any in between alt and ctrl) + F1 doesn't even work. This soft looks modern but is extremly hard to learn. I give up.
Hi, how can I update a profile from the memory of the mouse ? I created my profiles in the old Logitech app, and I don't find any way to update it without creating a new profile from scratch ? Is there any solution ? (or if someone has a tips to start the old app even when G Hub is installed, I would like to know :) )
Changing on-board memory is actual rocket science on GHUB. On LGS it takes 2 clicks. It's a shame half of my peripherals don't work with LGS or I would've never touched the nightmare that is GHUB.
@@solderpro9725 Moin, dann machst du was falsch! why is your programming to F1 & F2. I thought the on-board memory was programmed into the M1, M2 & M3 buttons at the top of the keyboard? When I follow all of these step, neither F1, F2, or any of the M1 buttons retains my setting. Frustrating.
He has a g915 TKL, the TKL has the mode buttons as F1 + FN = M1, F2 + FN=M2 and F3 + FN=M3
mine is just stuck on the old one and i can't overwrite it anymore
How to switch between profiles wen using a mouse (like fn by keyboard)?
thanks! very helpful
macros do not save on integraded memory?
If i set up the mouse and keyboard on pc and I switch it to console will it still keep the settings?
I did it exactly the way you did but the M Buttons won’t save my colors 😭
i am trying to do it on my g502 hero and it still doesnt switch i have one for my discord one normal and it doesnt switch between them
the colors transfer but the macros dont :(
Tried this multiple times. All I get is no lights what so ever. I have to restore the default color vomit profile to fix it. This software sucks.
It doesnt work for me. Somehow they are all the same and when I change M1 M2 and M3 only my Macros change but not my Lights. I have a G815 btw
Oh wait wtf. I just got it. My lights get safed but how do I change the Profile qick?
I have it like u showed me but I can not change the Profiles with my M keys.
Hi there. When you change profile during on board memory, do the macro and changed mapped keys also included??
I have the sam problem did you find a way to fix it?
@@Teo-bt7qj same here no macros save onto onboard
Same issue here.. Any fix guys?
Also here. Any fix? How can it be this doesnt work on such an expensive keyboard? I dont want to run ghub in the background all the time to have my g keys working...
does anyone know how to do this with the softwares current version? i cannot figure this out for the life of me
can i delete the profile on that on board memory?
so like make it to default factory
This would be more useful if we could see the top left...
Whoever designed this must have been high or something.
Too bad freestyle settings cannot be saved to onboard memory...
Yes you can. But you have to save it as an Effect. It's still a badly designed software nonetheless.
@@yunxiangchong226 You sure? I saved them as an effect, but it still won't work, it just defaults back to the rainbow
Thank you so much!
thank you!
Thanks mate.
it doesnt ever change from profile 1, does the dots and then nothing
i dont have any fn keys on my G915 lol.
It's a shame half of my peripherals don't work with LGS or I would've never touched the nightmare that is GHUB.
this is helpful, thk
Does this work for g613 keyboard?
Thanks a lot!
06:45 if you are in a rush
thanks
there is no option to assign the button.....
thanks, they make this way too hard
Bro thank you so mych
@@solderpro9725 Moin, dann machst du was falsch! Wenn das Profil > Standard Freestyle geupdatet wird in die 915, dann hat deine Tastatur dies ja als Standard Profil und verwendet dies auch wenn die Software NICHT an ist. Es stellt sich auf F1 also erstes Profil. ... ;)
when i unplug my g pro tkl and plug it back in, it goes static white? Does anyone know, how to fix it, to go back to preset rainbow? I can change it, no problem, but i want it to stay in default rainbow.. pls help
