As someone who just recently (January) had his first Cube draft experience and wants to build one, these videos are indispensable! Thanks so much. Gotta find a place for my Invocation Spell Pierce I opened Wednesday. ;) Any plans for GameDay, by the way?
Nice work! That's probably up there as one of the better looking ones for sure! (that'll definitely find a home in a cube) Glad you're enjoying the videos and finding them useful. As for gameday, I couldn't get the day off in the end so I'll be at work unfortunately... although the b/w servocrats deck has had a few upgrades as of amonkhet. What are you playing for this one?
Awesome stuff! I loved the look of B/W zombies - managed to draft a deck with 3 binding mummies and it did so so much work for me! Best of luck, let me know how it goes for you!
Thank you - I'm glad you're enjoying them - I'm learning a lot myself and will certainly make sure I do a lot more planning when it comes to making my pauper cube! Have you built your own?
I have an unpowered 360 cube and I'm actually going to be building (starting lol) my pauper/peasant cube. I'd like to try some different archetypes with it. Definitely will be checking all your uncommon/common videos again.
Awesome stuff - I'm a big fan of peasant/pauper cubes as I feel they offer some really great gameplay without as much of the crazy (but fun) interactions! Best of luck with your build!
Thank you bud, really glad you're enjoying the videos and onwards to 2k! Have some very exciting news for the channel coming up soon, which I can't wait to tell everyone when it's all be sorted!
Nice list! I should put that sulfuric vortex in my cube just by itself to support aggro. Would you say Sulfuric Vortex is an upgrade to Goblin War Drums? I added the drums because I wanted to aggro harder to block. Since that card is an uncommon though Im wondering if theres a better card for that purpose. Also, what do you think of cards like Burn at the Stake Thunderblust Hammer of Bogardan?
Definitely would be worth an upgrade! As it's a guaranteed 2 damage every single turn and stops life gain which can be an issue to every aggro deck. Goblin war drums is good, but only really relevant in a creatures deck. It's definitely worth a trial swap. Hammer of Bogarden is a very expensive for what it does. With the speed you want in burn or red aggro - I feel this isn't great personally. Id rather play past in flames and have all of my spells available with flashback. Thunderblust is ok, chump blocked first time and comes back to be able to do damage. Again speed is my issue here, I'd certainly rather have the other ball lightning variant. This would be good in a longer game though if your cube was a lot more mid-range. Burn at the stake looks like a fun trick to end with for sure, but again limited to a creature heavy deck, which burn definitely doesn't utilize. You need at least 3 creatures in play to really make it worth it, but I'd rather have them attacking backed up by burn spells. I guess it would depend on the power level of your cube and what you need cards to do, as they can all server a purpose!
I have, the problem I face is that normally these days it's been hard to get a full group together, especially with me moving house soon. If you'd still be interested in 2 player draft videos and games then that is definitely something I can sort out - I've certainly been meaning to do that. Plus get setup and record gameplay of the cubes on Magic Online.
+Steplagent I wouldn't say it's too good for cube. It definitely depends on how heavily it's supported and the other archetypes in the cube too. With all of the right pieces it can be devastating, but at the same time so can sneak and show, reanimator, kiki combo and more. It's not too difficult to reduce its power if it is becoming overwhelming.
I'm only planning my first one. And I have some troubles with designing archetypes. For example, I don't know how many pieces of removal should contain my cube to support one or two control decks and how this removal should be divided itself: how many direct removal spells (burn or destruction/exile) and how many counterspells... Sth like that:)
To be honest - I'll be going through little things like this as we go through the series, but in all honesty I wouldn't worry about the numbers too much to start with. Say for example in the colour blue - you have 50 cards in total, 20 might be creatures and 30 might be spells. In that set of spells you might have say 10 counters, 10 card draw/deck manipulation and 10 others. During playtesting you may find that you have too many counters, so you can amend as you go. No cube will be perfect at the start and that is the joy of playtesting it. You'll develop it into something great. So don't worry too much about getting the exact numbers. The other option you have is to take a look at other people's cubes on cubetutor.com to gauge how many of each spell type they tend to take. Maybe using that as a rough indicator will be beneficial.
Thank you buddy - we've rocketed past and over 1300 now! Very grateful for being on split second and the professors tolarian winds episode. The fact you're still watching every video is enough for me bud, please don't feel you have to send anything!

Life Begins At 20 I got my B/W Zombies! Put in REAL work at the Standard Showdowns so far.

This was spot on , great video. i would be hard pressed to think of many cards that you missed for the core of the this archetype.
Thank you bud! I'm glad you enjoyed the video - I'm really enjoying doing the research to put them together each week :)
Great series! Love the break downs.

Fantastic video, I always learn a lot watching these. Congrats on 1k subs I'm so excited to see your channel doing well, onto 2k!

Congrats on your 1k! One question I have is this: how many archetypes should be included in a cube?
Thank you - I'll add that question to the list :)

Have you ever considered doing game play videos, where you film yourself drafting cube then playing?

I'd certainly be interested in seeing 2 player draft!
I'd certainly be interested in seeing some 2 player draft videos!
I'll make sure I organize something for this the future as I'm sure it could be the next stage of cube for 2 so people can see them in action.
Isn't Mono-red TOO good for Cube? Many people confirm that, although there're several factors which define its power.

I see, thank you very much :)
No worries bud - have you got a cube or thinking of building one?

Life Begins At 20 ok well keep up the good work
Ankh of Mishra is an old school staple...
Thank you sharing this card. I don't claim to know every single card as I did only start playing from Origins, so apologies if I missed anything else.
No apologies, not all cubes run it but it is a pretty brutal burn card!
It certainly is! Plus being an artifact it's another diverse target for the opponent to deal with alongside Sulphuric Vortex, Eidolon and Harsh Mentor
