  • Another train pack from Kato Pocket Line. In this pack, the locomotive is powered unlike in the steam pack. Small and effective, this locomotive run very well! Also look how fine the pantograph is made! it really upgrade the loco's overall look and quality. There are no lights on it unfortunately, they are just painted dots.
The Gaugemaster website mention that it is supposed to represent an ES1 locomotive although I have a lot of doubts about that as it doesn't look much like one and models made with this tooling were out there way before Gaugemaster had their British Railways industrial freight starter train set. If someone finds the actual japanese prototype, I would appreciate to know.
The wagons are extremely light, between 5 and 6 grams! I really like how odd the tail wagon is. It looks like a mix between a regular mineral wagon and a brake wan. In UK, they had combined passenger and brake van. Maybe japan had a mineral wagon / brake van combo. It would kind of make sense as the cargo weight would help with braking power maybe?
Anyway, I hope you like it and also the attempt at a running session at the end!

That little engine can pull over 14 wagons behind it quite easily. A very reliable chassis overall.

Yeah I would agree. Very good beginner model. I got another one in a British Railway starter that I reviewed here: ua-cam.com/video/8_emfBuLxnM/v-deo.html
