For anyone worried about noise level, it actually sounds louder in the video. I was worried when I first started mine up but was very impressed with how little sound it made.
Its actually really loud... I run a honda 3000 my buddy the 3800 wen and my father in law a westinghouse 4500..... The wen is way louder than both of them by a big ways,
Lmao really loud? Absolutely not. Are the Honda and Westinghouse quieter? Yes. I used to own a BS 3500 I think? Now that was really loud. You could hear that thing on the opposite side of the campground. Pretty embarrassing. So ya, the Wen 3800 is not really loud by any means
@Austin Ashburn we place our gens about 30'-40' from camp, and the WEN is the only one that wakes me up when camper AC kicks on.. It's loud. It sounds like it's overloading when the compressor kicks on. With that being said, it's a great gen for the price. 2 in parallel for under $1500. Honda 3000 and Predator 3500 are definitely the quietest. It is an inverter gen, so it's quieter than average non inverter gens..
That’s crazy that it can wake you that far away. Mine is usually no more than 20ft outside the camper n I can barely hear it. When the AC is on then I can’t hear the wen at all lol
I have to say that my Predator 3500 Inverter generator has been flawless. Glad you like your WEN though, I certainly would look at one if I had to do it again because this seems like a good option
I already own a Wen 2K and really like it. Yesterday I went to HF to buy a Predator but discovered that the discount coupon excluded the Predator. So instead decided to buy a second Wen 2K then parallel them to run my trailer's a/c, however I noticed and decided to buy the Wen 3800 instead.
Just bought a 3800 from the wen website $649 no tax free shipping. Bought it Wednesday night at 10 pm and it will be here tomorrow, fantastic! Your review helped my decision.

Not advised. It'll cause liquid to get sucked into the evap vapor line thus migrating to then ruining the carbon canister resulting the generator won't come off idle to maintain loads. It's one advantage to the Hondas.
Just a basic question: does the port that says "recreational vehicle use only" also allow you to run a cable to a manual transfer switch on the house, for feeding the house in the event of a power outage? Thanks.
It can be run to a transfer switch in your house. Because it's 120v single phase, and not 240v two phase, it won't be able to power any of your 240v appliances and it will only be able to supply power to one side of your circuit breaker. But it can be connected.
You say that it has handles so you can set it up into a pickup but just how easy is it to do that? I am about 5' 6" and weigh around 170 so not a big guy at all. I am fairly strong for my size but have to pick it up about waist high in order to get it in the back of my truck.
@@faultless18 I bought the westinghouse and it just kept overloading every 15 minutes. works great when it isnt very hot outside. Used it when it was 94 degrees and everytime tried run my 13500 btu camper A/C it would overload. I just sent it back and am looking for alternatives. I was only running the A/C in the camper with nothing else. During the night while it was cooler outside it ran fine, once it warmed up outside, OVERLOAD. Maybe I just got a bad one but just food for thought. I cant seem to find anyone on youtube that is testing theirs outside in the summer heat. Good luck with your choice in which ever one you decide to go with. I'm between the WEN3800 and The Predator3500 at this point.
Are the grab handles metal or plastic? These boxy type generators dont seem to have any way to be secured against theft buy using a solid heavy duty chain etc. Cable locks are completely useless.
They are metal bolted through a metal frame. . This cable lock I have is 1/2”. Anyone with cordless power tools can cut the handles, chains, and cables to get what they want. This will keep it mostly secure and keep people honest.

Nice review. I opted for the Generac IQ3500. I love everything about it with the exception that generacs cheap ass didn’t build wheels into the unit. And it’s heavy. I almost went with this baby here but couldn’t break my loyalty habit as my past 2 generators over the years were also Generac. I’ve also ordered the Westinghouse WGen9500DF. I’ll use the inverter/ IQ3500 at night and the Westinghouse during our peek and awake hours. This past storm here in Texas was something out of an apocalyptic movie. There are more predators sold across the country than this. To warranty the predator is just take it to hf. Good luck with online sales on the wen. Overall the predator sales will still dominate. The price of the wen is still not a winner. It would only be if it was being sold for 3-400$max
But the fact is you can just cart it to the store and you do not have to ship it. Of course once you mod the HF to breathe better, you may be stuck with it! What works for you is best! Going to get one of these some day!
I paid $600 shipped for my Wen 3800. It comes with. a 2 year warranty. With the Predator, you need to purchase an extended warranty. The extended warranty is good for one replacement. If that replacement has issues, it's not covered. I thought I had a issue with the hour meter during the breakin, I ran it for an hour, changed oil, ran it for another hour and changed the oil. The hour meter reset each time. I emailed Wen, they got back to me within 24 hours. Its needs to run continuously for 2 hours for the hour meter to start. I have since run it for two hours, stopped it and then again for 15 mins. It is keeping track of the hours.
