@@PurpleCollarLife No but i can do it manually by running the Generator until it runs out of gas and stops running. This is what the manual says to do for long term storage.
I think it’s very easy to wheel around. The wheels are small though - I would think it would be difficult to wheel around if you weren’t on cement. As far as lifting - I can lift it by myself. But I do think that for lifting it into the bed of a truck, it’s much easier with two people.
I've always heard that it's best to store it with gas in it, and Stabil fuel treatment in it. I've heard you want to have the fuel tank at least 95% full to eliminate air space for condensation to accumulate. I also know it's important to make sure you're not storing it will fuel in the carburetor. I run all the gas out of the carb after shutting the fuel valve off. And I make sure to run the gas all out at least once a year to keep the fuel fresh and let the generator run at least annually.
Super clean step by step guide/tutorial + review. Keep up the great videos. This is helping me purchase a generator for my new trailer. So I have a question. This would definitely work with RV's AC units correct? I know they pull a lot at the start. Wasn't sure.
Glad it helped! As far as for the RV's air conditioning, it depends on the size of the air conditioner and the rv's other power needs. Ours does power our air conditioner, which is I believe a 13,000 or 15,000 BTU. But in order to power the A/C, we need to make sure the refrigerator isn't currently running on electric and that we don't also run the microwave or other high-use electronics. It certainly wouldn't be powerful enough to power multiple A/C units, or larger units.
Thanks, Brock. I appreciate you watching and letting me know your thoughts on the on-screen message. I'll leave it up. So far no one has commented on it negatively.
My batteries needed to be replaced within 6 months and I thought they should have lasted at least a couple of years. I've replaced them twice. I set a reminder on my phone to charge them periodically and they last longer. It was very quiet at first, but slowly got louder. But I can deal with the noise as long as it produces the watts. My generator tends to walk across a smooth surface because of the vibration. I set it on an inclined driveway (about 10 degrees) one time and it flipped over so I built some wooden stabilizers for it. Overall, for the price, it's a good generator, and I would probably not hesitate buy another one.
Just a public service announcement: to remove the battery just remove the side cover (2 screws) so you can access it from the back. Now you can also push the positive cable past the rubber air snorkel so you can pull the battery out all the way.
Awesome review! Do you need the battery for this generator to run? If my power goes out and the battery is dead, can I use the pull start to get it started? Will it still power? I’m guessing the lights and everything won’t work. Thanks!
That's a good question. The generator comes with a battery. We never tried it without one. If the battery goes dead - it is possible to pull start the generator.
Tent camping is something we like doing when its possible and our old wen 1800 is still thumping but way to loud at zero load. Since we'll be doing tent camping we wont we running a/c or a frig, more like lights and projector and charging our devices which im sure this wont be any problem on load levels but more concern on the noise level for tent camping? I know its a beast for just tent camping...
Hello - thanks for writing! I think this particular WEN generator is pretty impressive. But for tent camping, I doubt you need 3800 Watts. I'd recommend getting a smaller, more lightweight, and quieter 1000 Watt generator. I see WEN currently has model 56125i inverter generator which is a 1250-Watt version for a good price. wenproducts.com/collections/inverter-generators/products/1250-watt-gas-powered-inverter-generator-carb-compliant And then there's also the always reliable and super-popular Honda EU1000i : powerequipment.honda.com/generators/models/eu1000i I think one of these would be great for tent camping. Thanks for watching!
That's a good idea for a future video! Thanks. I see there are some other videos out there on the topic of grounding a portable generator - if you need to watch one before I get a chance to make one. Thanks for watching!
My dad has used it camping multiple times in sites without electricity. He's really happy with it. They camp for a week or more at a time, using the generator when they need to.
I used a empty water bottle of 16.8 oz. Filled it to top with break in oil. Then poured it in the genny so I know I won't over fill. Checked and is perfect on the threads.
I always love seeing different product reviews, great job. I didn’t notice if you said how it compares to the Honda generator when they are both running on a full load?
Thanks! It is a great generator for RVs. We haven't had a chance to test this one at full load, but I have a video from a while back where we walked around a campground and used a decibel meter app to test the noise levels. The WEN wasn't quite as quiet as a Honda at full load (Air-Conditioner on), but was more quiet than most of the other brands. It's really impressive.
Hey I work at a shop. Working on Honda’s and other knockoff generators similar to this unit. What kind of warranty does it have ? I probably would have used breakin oil then after use whatever oil you want afterwards. How’s it been running.
Hello - I believe this WEN generator has a 2-year warranty. Nice idea about the break-in oil, but we had this oil readily available. I guess no one caught it when you misstated that it has 2- 15 amp plugs. Those are 20 amp. Some reviewers make an honest mistake. Good luck to you. Thanks for sharing.
Hi King Kizer - your statement had me wondering. The plugs do say 5-20R outlets. But all the paperwork with the generator and documentation I can find online says that those are connections on the generator are for 15 amps output.
@@PurpleCollarLife If you look at the plug it has a horizontal plug on the left side. This is for 20 amps. This is what caught my eye. The only reason i know this is my margarita machine plug has the sideways plug on it for 20 amps. I used my predator 3500 generator to power it.it also has the same type with horizontal plug on it.
