Yamaha Kodiak 400 - Coolant Flush

  • I flushed the coolant on the Kodiak 400. I switched to the Yamaha blue fluid. I'm not too happy with how well it cleared out the old coolant, so I will run it for a while, then do a simple drain and refill of coolant. Mine does not seem to have a bleeder like some other machines, which may contribute to this problem...

You have to let it really warm up so the thermostat opens up and mixes all the coolant throughout the entire engine. Once the fan comes on you know it’s reached the proper temperature and the coolant is well mixed, thanks for the great diy video

Exactly!! I was about to comment the same thing, he never let it warm up long enough for the water to circulate.

When you first pulled the drain plug I was like "Ohhh nooo! She's dry!"
Then you pulled the cap and Niagara Falls baby.
    Nice video.

Thanks for the Vid. Helped me with my 2001. Unfortunately, i'm the opposite of OCD and it was the first coolant change on it.

Is there a way to easily tell if the coolant is actually making it to the engine? My temperature gauge does not work

Did you purchase this new? I have a 2006 I purchased new with very low hours. This machine runs like it’s brand new. I really like your videos on how to as it shows how truly easy the process is.

How did you get the reservoir hose off. I can’t get it and the overflow tank is way over full line and I can’t drain it

Did you have the bleed any air out of the system? Thanks I just changed my coolant with Engine ice and it has gotten hot on my a couple times since. The only thing I didn't do was bleed or burp the system.

Does it make a difference if you flush the system with a garden hose or not? Is it better? Thanks!

Vintage Arctic Cat Rider It depends on if you have a bunch of debris/corrosion or hard water scale.
I once didn’t do it on a car and it plugged up the heater core until it was pressure flushed.
