This started off as just a coolant change on our Yamaha Grizzly 700, but once we cracked open the cooling system, we knew there was a little more work to do. The fluid was so dirty, we knew it was time to clean the system, so we’ll show you how to flush the radiator on your Yamaha Grizzly. For this, you’ll need to get a good radiator flush at your auto parts store, but make sure it is compatible with your aluminum radiator.
First, we’ll show you how to get the footwell and the plastics out of the way to access all of the parts of the cooling system. Then, we’ll show you how to drain the radiator fluid so you can start flushing the system. After a few runs using the flush and some water, we’ll show you how to fill the system and set the level using our Yamacool pre-diluted antifreeze.

How often should you change the coolant on your Yamaha ATV? Yamaha recommends every two years. After that, the fluid can turn acidic and will start to corrode the inside of your cooling system.

coolant is always so neglected, it takes a decent amount of time for it to cause an issue, then when it does no one ever thinks its from lack of maintenance

Good video but read your owners manual for exact bleeding procedure & coolant capacity. The link has you buying only one qt. of coolant when almost 2.5 qts. is needed. 2008 700 Grizzly

HI John. Fantastic video on the Grizzly. Im over in England and have a Yamaha Grizzly 550 2011 model. Not many good quad bike repair places over hear. I am going to change my coolant and its looking good, so hopefully no need to flush. One question though, will I need to bleed the cyclinder head? Didnt see you do it on your 700cc one in the video but my handbook suggests I might. Trust your advice. Regards Adam

Nice video. What does it mean when the coolant level in the rad doesn’t drop after you re-fill and run the bike to temperature? I just changed the coolant on my Suzuki Vinson 500 and after topping off the rad and warming the engine with the cap off, the level does not drop.
