      Yeah it’s not bad, personally I think I prefer the controller myself. If this dongle was under $100 it’d be a no brainier - but at this price it’s a harder question

    This should be included with the light right out of the box, no dongle needed. I wonder how many of those go for a dip in the tank.

      Hey! Hmm ok, I haven't had the dongle for quite some time - but usually with these things it is to do with 2.4ghz network being required rather than 5ghz. Make sure your router is broadcasting two different SSID's for the different networks

    WiFi dongle is great if you don’t want to mix older kessils with it or the spectral controller x is best :)

      Yeah I tend to prefer the physical controller. It’s cheaper, does 0-10v lights too and is easy to use. But hey, each to their own :)

    Would each light need one or will one do multiple lights

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  4 роки тому

      One will do heaps of lights, but you do need to connect the lights via their usb wire and then you can control them all wirelessly

      @@ParkersReef okay I thought each light might of had to have one I don't think its really important to have one with kessil lights because they can still be used without it I've always wanted to try one of there lights I did consider getting one and using it as a fuge light but I have yet to setup one

      @@ParkersReef yes I couldn't agree more the fool proof way of having the light I mean there's some really cool lights out there with tons of control but its only good if you know how to use it and the coral thrive

    Unrelated to the video. I'm looking to start up a small reef tank just to learn the ropes. Would you recommend the Waterbox 20 (have watched all your videos from the Idiot Proof Reef tank =D ) or the Aqua One mini reef 90? The Aqua One comes with a sump (quite familiar in terms of working with one because I have one on my 6 foot cichlids set up) which is nice because I can have a larger protein skimmer, more media etc. But do you think a sump is really necessary for a tank this size?? Aqua One might also work out cheaper because it comes with a heater, pump and protein skimmer.
    Great videos!

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  4 роки тому

      If you have space for the mini reef, I’d go that way. Sump is always a good option.
      Also, check out the new aqua one reef sys. They are great units that don’t come with the poor quality equipment that you end up throwing out (which in turn makes them cheaper)

      @@ParkersReef Thanks for the super quick response! I'll check those out, have heard sub par reviews on the Aqua One mini reef due to noise, poor plumbing etc.

      @@ParkersReefChecked them out, smallest size is 180L which is a bit too big for what I'm looking for. Ideally, just want something small to get started with and then upgrade to a good sized and better quality tank in about a year and then convert the current one to quarantine. Heading to my LFS over the weekend, leaning towards the aqua one reef 90 at the moment unless I get convinced otherwise in store

      where are you getting stuck? I prefer the hardwired controller myself (mainly because it feels like better value to me) but the WiFi dongle should work just fine?
