Hi Brad, thank you for introducing me to this tune. I decided to try and learn it and as soon as I put my banjo into fCFCD it seemed to flow right out! I am sure I will have fun trying to master this for a long time to come and it's one of my favorite songs so far
@@bradkolodnermusic Thank you! After I wrote this, I remembered I could slow down the video, so I got a little better idea. It's amazing how then the 5th string pluck is kinda swinging for this.
How hard would it be if I bought a banjo and tried to learn playing the banjo myself? I play guitar (as my channel would show). Do you have any idea on this? By the way, beautiful music! Gonna share now on Facebook. 😍😍😀
If you're already rhythmically inclined I think the process wouldn't be too hard. The mechanics of removing your upstrokes for playing clawhammer style like masterful mr. Kolodner here would probably be your biggest hurdle. If you've finger picked at all scrugss style banjo would be dead easy with little effort other than learning roll patterns. I'm now learning guitar after starting on banjo. Let me use the old adage "the first instrument is the hardest". Now to learn to sound like beautiful Brad... potentially a lifetime 😉 gl hf
love a video that makes we want to practice and makes me want to quit all at once
Truth👍
I LOVE this tune... & of course, you do it sooo well! I'm a fiddler. I'm blessed to have banjo players who I can play this awesome tune with!!
omg. that was so fun. :-D
LOL...I have The Banjo Lesson hanging to my left.....and one day I might even get that clawhammer touch...
When people ask why I prefer clawhammer over scruggs style i usually show them this video.
In the last third of the song my jaw dropped very well done.
Sweet jesus 😯
Yeah, fer sure Brad ... a quintessential clawhammer gem, played very sweetly, sir.
Awesome.
So cool! I just found you. Subscribed!
Whoa! You've got a lot of cool things going on. Well done, sir!
MAD great job on that fabulous tune!! Wonderful!!
Super duper cool stuff right here. My sister is learning this, what a tune!
Banjo Ben - I always wondered if you play clawhammer. At least now I know you dig it!
@@derfeus I don't play yet, but just had one built by Nashville Banjo Company and I'm excited to start!
@@BanjoBen Awesome! I have a feeling you'll get up to speed quickly!
It was cool to see you place your finger as if fretting over the frailing scoop. Awesome version, especially up the neck!
So good!
Beautiful.
damn, that was crazy good

Lovely’s
Absolutely love it... that’s some nice picking... sandy river belle tuning? Love lows
Wow! How do you do those fast triplets? I'm trying to see, but I don't even know which hand to look at, when!
Left hand pull-off combined with the 5th string!

Wow, how did you keep that double thumbing going while playing that complex melody line? Very nice!
