My young son is on the Autism spectrum and I have explained to him that this song relates to him as well when he is feeling down about being different. Like the Crooked Tree he grows stronger every day as he explores the gifs he has been given. He graduated from high school last year with honors and is in his second semester of college. This song has inspired and encouraged him and me both!
I have Asperger's and this song is a huge inspiration to me. It's become my little Aspie anthem. (I'm almost 70, and my entire life has been an adventure, to say the least. So every bit helps.) 😀
Almost 50 years ago I quit college to pursue a life as a musician. I had grown up on a farm, worked as a logger and pulp cutter, and "worked in a sawmill or two"..."The Old Home Place" was my bluegrass anthem. Recently, as I approach 70 I've reflected and sometimes questioned the wisdom of that choice - deepest thanks to Molly for reminding me of who I am.
Robert, you were wise in your direction . If musicians do not become professional for their life vocation direction and purchase fine built tonewoods, people who are luthiers by choice of their lifestyles work would starve . Trees make fine sounding instruments for the world to enjoy . Plus the replanting will ensure a great future for tonewoods to continue to be played by generations to come . But leave the crooked ones to live.
@@hayleyb467 Thank you. I should clarify though, merely that possessing the gift of music is all the wealth in the world, and without it, is bereft longing. That the decision between sacrificing a conventional work-a-day life to a dedication to music - could hardly be regretted..
After my Mother’s second heart attack, I looked to the sky and experienced two cranes flying together over the roof of her screened-in porch. I am reminded of this beautiful experience when listening to this beautiful heartfelt song about her mother.💕
Of all the songs I've heard in the last year, none has moved me like this one! We live in a world where "Crooked Trees" feel left out, alone and often ridiculed! How wonderful to find that our uniqueness is something to celebrate! I'm PROUD to be a crooked tree!
The new country music is nauseating prepackaged propaganda, but what they call "new grass" which is what genre Molly and Golden Highway most closely fall into is truly something special. I could listen to this all day long.
This song and the album are amongst the finest things Molly has done. She decided to go back to her roots and produce a full bluegrass album and she has done this at the height of her powers. A classic album for all lovers of pure music!
This band has more talent squeezed together on one stage than any I have ever seen. I am 71. 'Follow the science' involved on how to put together a band.
I bought this cd on only knowing this song. It touched me, completely. Mu husband is a Naturalist and trying to help save our old growth forest here in S.E. Ohio. Thank you Molly. The entire record is wonderful. Just received it the mail.💙🎶🎶

I heard this on Mountain Stage. A totally stunning song, such a sad story with powerful metaphors woven in. This is truly briliant songwriting. As a lover of the forest, I was in tears. And the band is terrific, joyful, flawless. As someone else noted, this song will be played for generations, a new classic. Thank you, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, for this musical gift.
Bluegrass has the new generation of young talent. All it was ever missing to make a jump was top level song writing. This is an example of that step forward.
A little song to help crooked trees have gratitude for being made, how they were made. God bless all the crooked trees and those who judge them because they are different. Molly and Melody have written a masterpiece here.
Thank you, Molly. What an awesome song. We love "Crooked Tree," the melody and meaningful lyrics. We feel your brilliant joy. The world is better because you are here.
Thanks Molly and the Golden Highway. I love the song. I as well would rather be a crooked tree, sometimes I forget that. It’s nice to hear a friendly reminder ✌️❤️⚡️
Wonderful song and performance. Do not miss that Molly, the most amazing guitarist, allows the fiddle a prominent spot, playing out the song at the end. Classy Lady.

Great song, thank you. In the same way, your teachings have no practical use.” Zhuangzi replied, “This tree may be useless as lumber, but you could rest in the gentle shade of its big branches or admire its rustic character. It only seems useless to you because you want to turn it into something else and don't know how to appreciate it for what it is. My teachings are like this.” Apparently a lesson we have yet to learn.
You make me so happy. The joy you exhibit when you sing and play is heart-warming, and I am delighted at your ability to attract extraordinary musicians to you. New videos from you are high priority views for me. Thanks, Ms Tuttle!
