to see a band that goes so hard to a half empty field, in the middle of the day... well, that's gold. I was lucky enough to see them during this part of their career, and oh boy, did they hit hard. They are a must see when in any town, field, bar, or under a bridge near you.
Jay-Z played the same festival a year later. Seeing the man land in a chopper, next to a barn in the woods, was interesting to say the least. Craig and the guys should have played a bit later in the day, but it was still good. They also played a short acoustic set inside the campgrounds for about.. 100'ish people? 2007 so my memory is a bit hazy. There were clips of three of the songs on the old NRK P3 website, but it's unfortunately scrubbed from the net.
Crowd is stunned and the lead singer is drooling half way through the opening song yeah it doesn't get any better. Rock and Roll.
I can't believe I only discovered this band this year , 6 great albums purchased in a blink of an eye ^^
same here (it's 2022 and it's eight albums)
Welcome to the unified scene
Proving everyone is in The Hold Steady, even in my beloved Norway
We are all The Hold Steady
What a set list. Dream set list. this is like all their awesomest songs!
Boys and Girls in America is such an amazing album
One killer line after another, with banging anthems perfectly balanced with soul-destroying ballads. Yeah, that checks out.
What a beautiful audience.
Yes, I noticed that, too. So pretty. A virtual meadow of blue-eyed, blonde-haired, Swingin' Scandinavians. GrrrrrRuff-Ruff!
Norway know a great band when they hear and see one. The Hold Steady brought the party and won them over eventually.
What a marvelous recording! Great video, sound, camera angles, energy and the band is in top form. Fun to see all those young Vikings learning to love our NY/TwinCities export.
Unfortunately it's the only time they've played in Norway. I believe they were booked twice at some point after this, but both shows got cancelled. They also did a short acoustic set on the campgrounds at this very festival, in front of a small audience. You can make him like you was filmed, but I don't think the clip is available online anymore. Glad you enjoyed this though!
Edit : They played once in 2012 too. How the hell did I miss that show? Damnit.
@@unhans I just had to play this again, it's such a great recording! I love that they played your campground and it doesn't surprise me. They came through my town last year headlining a small'ish outdoor music fest and then they under-booked 2 shows at "7th Street Entry". "First Avenue" (1500 capacity) is a mainroom club in Minneapolis, but they booked the attached "7th Street Entry" (capacity of 250) just to enjoy the experience in the town Finn grew-up in. These guys are something else.
Hope you get to see them again.
Wow!
Top quality video of a great performance. Nice.
Incredible. The boys turned that crowd around!
They invest so much heart in their sets.
Stumbled on this one! Damn this is as good as it gets!!
That does it. I'm going to start buying their music
Watch them take over the crowd!
I wish i knew this band back then
Amaze
Miss “First Night” would very much see you guys i Denmark
Jesus! Band at the top of their fucking game here.. Wow brought me to tears a few times
YEA
Faen de er unge her altså!
yes!
Tads a beast ..totally underrated
This is fantastic.
Feels like a mash up between weezer, springsteen, and blues traveler with some counting crows mixed in.
Jesus they got me breathing hard...
god damn i love when craig goes off mic and expands on a lyric like at 20:48 right after "we were all powered up on some new upper drug" i wish i could know what he is saying though lmao
I think he usually mimes " just a little bit, just a little"
this is better than good.
Hot, sweaty Craig Finn? Yes please!
This lineup is incredible!
No "One for the Cutters" :(
this was filmed before that song came out
Craig's guitar is turned down way too low
Back when people just watched the show with their eyes and not through their iPhone cameras
what happened to track 3
No third track, I just messed up while typing up the list!
