Shout out to the 10th anniversary gig:
• The Gaslight Anthem - ...
I was here with my girlfriend that weekend and remembered this band the most, mainly because I hadn’t heard of them until this point and my girlfriend loved them. Grace passed away 2 years later and now when I listen too “Here’s looking at you, kid” I break down. Once a year I return to this video, tear myself up and then move on with the next year. Music invokes powerful emotions. Peace and love to all x
Sorry bro. Thank you for sharing your heart.
God bless you brother
Bless you man.
Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry for your loss.
Thank you Dan.
The Gaslight Anthem - Absolutely criminal how underrated they are. Brian Fallon is a genius.
He really should have been nominated for "Local Honey"
I do my best to sell them to someone every chance I can, Gaslight anthem.. Brian Fallon really saved me. Favorite band of all time
You should listen to Dave Hause, he and Brian did a couple shows together. Dave is even more underrated he deserves a bigger stage
@@devinhaisma I mean all of them are friends. Dan Adriano (Alkaline Trio), Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music), Dave Hause (the Loved Ones). They're all doing great, different music.
But Brian Fallon, man, every album has slotted right into where it needed to be in my life.
The 2007 era through Get Hurt were the halcyon days following my move to Spain.
Get hurt came at a time when my marriage was under strain.
Painkillers came out months before my first daughter was born.
Sleepwalkers came out three HOURS before my second daughter was born. Her first dance and experience with music was that morning with me in the hospital to Etta James.
We had a heartbreaking miscarriage ten days before Local Honey came out.
Through it all, I sing my daughters to sleep with Mae.
Not a single meaningless song. So much passion and story. The Gaslight Anthem will always be on my top list.
Welcome back Gaslight anthem. We never stopped listening to you
I found them during the lockdown...I went down the rabbit hole of The Horrible Crowes and his side projects. I have tickets to see them in KC in September. Their music helped me get through the last year when my beautiful 35-year old sister-in-law passed from cancer. I was listening to them when I got the call. I have watched this concert more times than I care to admit the last year. Music heals and brings us together. See you all in the flip side..thanks so much for sharing this concert. :)
@@charstrong9822 may you stay strong. Their music has been helping me for years
@@charstrong9822 also gonna be at the kc show. Can't fuckin wait
Amen, brother
after two years of this comment, i am coming back to say (for whoever happens to read this and care and also as a testament for myself) that I somehow have the incredible luck of living temporarily abroad in Spain during the same time the gaslight anthem is playing Madrid so I bought tickets to see them. I think I have never felt more lucky and blessed in my life about a concert. I am ready to cry sweat tears of joy
This is prob the best live recording of TGA on youtube imo.
Check out their 2009 Reading set. The energy is insane.
Everytime I see Brian sing live... I dunno, it seem's like as he opens a song hes thinking 'Okay, just get yourself off to a good start and we'll see where this goes...' then half way through, he gets a smile on his face as if he's just remembered that he's got the greatest job in the world: Frontman of kick ass band, playing kick ass tunes
Thomas Mannion amen!! ✌🏼
Frontman of kick ass band playing kick ass songs
- there is not a more perfect description…
Kickass tunes...that he also wrote!
That Chelsea hotel interlude at the end of Have Mercy is pure class
Probably the most raw, authentic, and emotional band I’ve ever seen
Probably have to agree, and I've seen a lot of bands on my day
@@crk140 Same here
I can not believe that I just found about this band in 2020.
You're in for a ride. These guys are awesome from start to finish.
Same here stumbled across them on spotify and I'm hooked on then
Better now than never, I bet it made the year a little better.
I found them right after they went on hiatus, which felt awful cause I instantly fell in love with their music.
Same :)
@@815114 you were totally right!!!
🤟🏽😎🤟🏽
I love the energy of Rollin' and Tumblin'. Who can say "Get Hurt" is not a good record? I won't ever understand. My lifetime band. Thank god they are back!
when i listen to this band i honestly get so overwhelmed with emotion i either need it to play louder than anything else or i have to turn it off, every single aspect of it is really really touching and powerful and i thank everyone who contributed to making it, this band rules.
So true!
Yeah I get it too such a great band
can't believe im actually getting to see them live this year after watching this video time and time again, i was lucky enough to see brian a couple years ago and he was phenomenal! how fuckin lucky i must be to see them all together :)
The way they play live is unique you can feel every single word he sings
I always come back to this show a few times a year and just sit back and let it play start to finish. In all the years that I've loved TGA, and followed Brian's music, this may be one of the top performances I've seen. He seems so happy, and he's just kickin' ass throughout this set, as are they all. Fantastic
Check out live from the Atlantic from 2008
Handwritten! one of the greatest songs!
It almost looks like Brian is tearing up at the end of Backseat. I'm gonna miss these guys like hell.
+pielover204 He has before. It is just such a beautiful closing song, in this case to another chapter of TGA.
When he hit that line "if you never let me go, then I will never let you down."... hits everytime
This Have Mercy performance... legendary. MY GOODNESS!!!!
Very ballsy move to open their set with thao one!
It's one of their top 5 best songs imo though
The couple at the bottom of the screen at 5:19. That's what it's all about.
I love how you can see how much they love performing these songs!
This was actually their last concert before the hiatus, so they were probably mostly relieved that they were about to go on a break
totally off topic but the color and quality of this video is amazing
Totally gained an appreciation for Have Mercy from seeing it at Leeds and watching it here.
It's very rare for some band to have all good songs
wtf. how did i just hear of this band?!? they're awesome!!!
They are… better late than never!
This was so hard to watch. TGA have been with me through so much, good times and bad. I shed a few tears. Hope you guys come back, we already miss you.
The Patient Ferris Wheel is a song for all situations of life. I listen to the live/band version when I'm looking for a feel good song, or the acoustic when I'm looking for a song to hit me right in the heart.
It’s a banger
Incredible song. Gives me a very special melancholy feeling of youth.
I mean if this is your last gig for 3 years (plus an additional 4 before you officially return from hiatus), this is as good a set as any to go out on. All killer no filler. Such a great band, so happy they’re back.
Yes!!!
The new songs though ❤❤❤
Have mercy is such an underrated song
He just writes and sings with his absolute soul on his sleeve it's so powerful
I like the twist he puts on this version at the end "tell me again how you prefer handsome men but for me you'd make and exeption" just like my LJB
It's only on the deluxe version of 'Get Hurt' too which is odd.
@@bretthenry6723 the part added at the end of Have Mercy is from Leonard Cohen "Chelsea Hotel #2"
Adding leonard Cohen in this version is amazing
I listen to Gaslight EVERYDAY. There isn't a day that I don't. Every song hits home for me and I honestly can't wait until they go on tour again. Every album these guys do is phenomenal!!!
Still listening? ...I just heard them for the first time
@here again some of the best music made in the last 20 years
@@crk140 I honestly think they are one of the best rock bands of the last 20 years. And they are criminally underrated.
@@saiko_1 did you hear they are touring again and recording a new cd
@@crk140 yes! and that’s amazing! 😊
Get Hurt was an incredible album, and I really hope Brian and the band know that.
This band is the reason I write music, and they need to come back
Get Hurt was a riveting experience. In my honest opinion its up there with 59 Sound. It really hits me close to home as I too am stuck in a marriage which just is not working. I feel the songs Brian Fallon wrote to my bones.
people will hate anything a band does. If they change they're sound, they weren't ready for it and that's just not who they are. If they don't take the risk and stick to their known sound people will say the band ran out of ideas and it's getting boring.
I'm glad TGA were brave enough to try and experience with different sounds and styles. And they successfully did so, it may not be their best album but it's certainly a good one.
I hope they realize how important is for them to keep making music together, because they got a beautiful thing in their hands. They might not be the biggest band out there, but they're a big deal to a lot of people, myself included.
I was in the midst of divorcing a marriage that I killed. There were many nights spent personally dying to this album. As there still is. It's cathartic and painful and eye-opening all at the same time.
Patrick Kowalchuk Im going through a divorce right now. Im totally torn between wanting to save it and kill it. This album really hits me close to home.
it hits home for so many people
First heard 59 Sound on iTunes single of the week way back when. Bought Handwritten after hearing the single on the radio and loved it (song and album) but was a few years later before I got the rest of the albums (guy at work loved them) and really discovered them. Found myself listening to them loads last year too, must’ve been something about lockdown! Wish they’d get back together, the world needs more Gaslight Anthem!
The boys are coming back!
@@joshprado5001 I know, can’t wait!
I saw them the other week! They look so young here 😢
As many times as I watch this. I never get bored of this set
Weirdly I was about to post the same thing, it just gets better the more you watch it, especially Backseats.
That dude on his friends shoulders at 39 minutes screaming out the 59 sound....I feel you man.
So glad people are still enjoying this video 6 years on!
His voice is so good in this. Sometimes you can tell as the tour progresses his voice cracks a bit more and he sounds more tired. But his voice is spot on during this gig. Awesome band and Brian is equally awesome to watch solo as well!
Have Mercy goes so hard in this set.
These guys are legends I wish I was there
Wish I had realised how great Get Hurt was before they split.
Thankfully Brian's solo work is absolutely incredible!
They’re back! ❤️
They're playing again
And Get Hurt is amazing!
I didn’t take this album out of my car for 3 years!
@@eatmyoctopus
You certainly are a legend!
This version of Have Mercy is absolutely perfect.
Gaslight Anthem Fan from Indonesia!
Greeting!
Indonesia here too!
@@baradalamasa Me too, they are comeback
Brilliant band, show and footage. BBC cameras picking up the hotties in the crowd as per usual. The 59 sound absolutely epic down.
I think this is the greatest live set the band played. Terrific engineering and arrangements. Let's pray the band makes a go of it again.
After all this time, I still find myself coming back to this recording regularly. Really hope TGA will some day do new music together.
Stellar stuff, goosebumps. TGA for life.
Guess what???
Damn, this is the best I've heard them play live in years. Wish they could've played everyone of their songs in this set. Hope we see them soon with just as great new tunes.
Was a good send off for them, for now. The crowd wasn't the best but they rarely are at festivals. Chelsea Hotel No 2 at the end of Have Mercy was a beautiful moment, although I think it was lost on most. Brilliant to see the guys for the last time in a while.
Saw these at download 2013 & their leedsfest appearance from this weekend...awesome band.Hurry up & re-unite :D
Great Live-Band. And - by the way - Forza St. Pauli!
Haven't heard them in years, didn't know but, somehow, it was what I needed right now. Got to see them back in 2009 in Portugal, still have the same fears as I had by then, life seems to be passing by, TGA make me sad about things I've never lived, but hopeful for the future. All the best.
Please just get back together, Your music is just so emotional. I miss Gaslight so much :(
It's pretty sad, cause I love this band and I have never seen them. Hopefully they will be back in a couple years.
Theyre not getting back anytime soon unfortunately. I met Brian Fallon about a month or so back and asked him what the plans are for Gaslight anthem and he said they do not have any plans reunite anytime soon. He was saying maybe in 4 or 5 years but definitely not next year or the one after.
Bummer.
Does anyone there know the reason they wont be getting together? They just want to do their personal things, or is it personal, or anything else?
Dominik Sosnovec I think its just to work on other projects. No real personal drama I'm pretty sure
The stretch from 15 minutes through 20 minutes might be the best music I've ever heard
Definitely one of my favourite of theirs. After years and years of listening to it it still gives me the chills for reasons I can't define.
@@francoisfouchet8066 I get the same feeling
Excellent band, need more bands like them! Rock and Roll!
One of the best live bands of the past several years - really hope they decide to record/tour some more someday...
This is so phenomenal!! Thank you for uploading this
Those last lines few lines in "Have Mercy", so great! Gives me the chills
It's from Leonard Cohen's "Chelsea Hotel No. 2"
My Band of the century. God I miss them.
Wow. How good are these guys. For the love of God come back together. Please
Still can’t believe it!
Last time i was here it was senior year and i was skipping every Get Hurt song Haha, how things changed. How wrong i was.
I wonder if the people who saw this live knew what they were witnessing...the final performance of one of the greatest bands ever.
So true. Not sure why but everyone I listen to them I just wanna cry
THEY’RE BACK!!!
@@allosound1781 me too. I never really figured why.
I got introduced to these guys by hearing Howl 5 times at a New Jersey Devils game. God they’re amazing, so underrated.
good time to be introduced, just reunited!
@@christophermeyer24 I know! They’re coming to Kansas City this year so I’m gonna try to go
@@toxicelec5960 lmfao small world. My girlfriend, my buddy from Arizona, and myself will be there!
@@toxicelec5960 Coming in from Wichita!
I didn’t cry after being there for this. I think people that claim to be in tears over certain things are just lying. But me and the mrs just felt so empty after. We saw them in London with frank turner the night before. Them came to Reading for the day just for Gaslight. The sadness echos through the whole set for me. The way the didn’t make a big deal of it either. Just said they’re going home and did. Such a class act. The fact they ended in England too... I hope now they’ve done the 59 sound tour they’ll reunite legit and make more music with more Maria’s. It’s what we’re all here for let’s be honest.
long overdue a reunion & new record arent they.I never knew that leeds would be their last performance.Such a shame cos there an awesome band.would love to see them again
mate i could cry listening to the studio album after a few drinks, so don't doubt people's genuine emotions just because it doesn't take you there personally
"I think people that claim to be in tears over certain things are just lying"
What? Why?
I've genuinely been in tears on a number of occasions when listening to Gaslight Anthem songs (hearing Get Hurt for the first time, seeing Handwritten live etc etc), and I don't know how many times I've shed tears to other bands' songs and concerts. Don't you tell me I'm lying.
Thanks for sharing your story, though!
@@johnzackarias11 agree... if this doesn't bring you to tears, I'd almost question your humanity
@@wafster2006 THEY OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED THEYRE BACK TODAY!!!!!! Tour dates coming in the next few days and they’ve started writing songs for their next album!!!
The definition of Rock'n'Roll!
It's such a shame they are going on a hiatus, they look like they're having so much fun
I’ve wondered for awhile if they went into the studio to record get hurt knowing it’d be their last album for awhile maybe forever because of underneath the ground where he put in “I want to thank you all for your courtesy,I want to thank you all for watching us bleed.” As a head nod thank you to the fans for the years of support.
thanks for sharing this! well-mixed & outstanding performance of gaslight, brians voice and alex' background-vocals sounded never better imho... also the first time i've seen a pro-shot of drive in good quality, fucking great! also underneath the ground is acceptable, live & without autotune.
really hope they don't break-up for too long, we need more of THIS
Best Voice ever.... and a St. Pauli Jersey by the Guitar Dude...nice
2:48 And that, ladies and gentlemen, is The Gaslight Anthem!
keepsake sounds so good in this
Crazy to think Have Mercy never made it to Get Hurt 🤯
Man, I didn't realize Get Hurt was half a decade ago before I scrolled through this comment section.
Hope when they do come back, their music will be as satisfying as ever.
Have Mercy is fucking amazing
Howl and Drive back to back 😍

Holy shit. This is a freakin great band.
If they ever come back, ill spend some serious coin to get in that crowd
Wish granted!
Thank God this wasn’t the final show
Brian Fallon loves the Libertines, I can die happy
Watching this video north of 50 times that smile at 3:02 always makes me happy

They'll be back. No band breaks up anymore.
+Jack Gill I fuckin' hope so, I wouldn't wanna lose these guys. I wonder if we'll get a Horrible Crowes or Molly & the Zombies album in the meanwhile.
Myo-kun I've been hoping and saying the same thing!
+Jack Gill Brian played Newport folk festival with the line up of Molly and the zombies and he's not the guy to just kick back and stop writing he has a couple of gigs planned with chuck ragan and the likes! And Alex rosamila has a album coming out with his band. Think we will be getting great things 😊
+David Breen really luv them
+Jack Gill Brian announced a solo album
Love it watched 50 times throughout the years killa concert/band
The look Benny gives Brian at 38:32 , that gives me hope they'll be back. They loved what they did and they loved each other, Brian has said that 'Gaslight have said everything they have to say' but I think there's more to them; more to come from one of the greatest bands in modern Rock.
