    Funny. My 1969 MGB convertible came with that style of tail light cover and I changed it out with the later one. :-) You're right. You should do what you want, especially since there were so many of these. I also found you could put in things like a 1975 dashboard and it would bolt right in without any issues, but the tail light lenses required cutting metal. I also installed a folding top mechanism from a later year and discovered that you could do that easily, but you needed to retain the curved piece that meets the top of the windshield even with the newer frame. I still have a fondness for the car, even if it is pretty much a hotel for mice in the trunk out at my father's barn these days. :-)

    Nice presentation. Passion... It´s all about passion❤So what if you "break a few vintage classic rules". The Car is Yours and You clearly love it. Fun & Function as they say. I felt the same way with my old MGA I owned "in the day"... Hooow I miss that car 🥰🥰🥰

    Looks stunning, well done. I'm about to take delivery of a 67 Mk.1 GT in Sandy Beige, I owned 40 years ago! I found it 4 sale by chance online and its coming home. It's been very well looked after and was pretty unique when i had it all those years ago. The first owner had made many improvements to the creature comforts in the car, which looked period - better than what MG subsequently did, he was clearly very talented. For example he ditched the Smiths heater etc and designed his own heater/fresh air system with small eye ball vents at each end of the dash.

    Beautiful car. I really like the BRG and black wires combination. It gives the GT a real pre-war touring vibe…in a good way. Nicely done.

    Thanks for posting this. I'm also an MGBGT owner, mine is L registered but also 1972. It was registered in August of that year, so soon it will mark its 50th birthday. It is in the less than popular Harvest Gold but such a period colour. I love it - the car and the colour.

      My roadster from June 1972 is also 50 and also Harvest Gold, recently re-built and resprayed. The colour is so different from all other colours on the road now, I'm perfectly happy. In any case, I once saw an E-type the same colour, and it looked gorgeous. Well of course it did...

    Love the colour combinations.
    Similar story to you. Mum bought the 74 chrome bumper car in 77 ,
    I used to Raz round in it when I was 19.
    Then at 59!, Mum gave it me. I didn't really want want it but I've loved it , tuning it and adjusting it and doing the bodywork.
    It goes much better than I ever remember it going.
    People I give rides in it are stunned by how well it goes and what a great sound it makes .
    Truly the MGB and the GT version is one of the best cars ever made .
    This will be the last car I will ever sell.

Thankfully this one has factory od which my 2 previous did not. What a difference! Born in Glasgow but living in the states for the last 60 years I would love to drive one over there but I would need 3 months of driver training at least lol. Mgexp “coastalgt”

    Beautiful car, well done ! The color is striking,, more an early Bentley or Brooklands green than any of the British Racing Green variants. .
    I sold my 1964 Iris Blue B in 2002 which I replaced with I a 1963 Roadster. It is a daily driver but in process of a refurb. It has a hot cam, Moss TT exhaust, electronic ignition a few other goodies.. I am looking for a 65-72 GT as my next, possibly last car. I have owned about 30-40 British cars to include a 1969 MGC GT bought when I worked for the official MG dealer (British Motors of Monterey Calif ) 1968 -1972.

    I had a 1974 MBG...back in the early to
    mid 90s.
    Dual Carbs + Overdrive.
    LOVED THAT CAR.
    Huge reoccurring issue for me was the Front driver's side wheel/hub.
    (passenger for you).
    Damn thing came off on me a couple times. Trouble with the 'splines'.
    The single lug/nut would loosen under breaking, and come off. Wheel itself came off a few times.
    Did you have that issue?
    Or is that a known issue ?
    Fix ?

    • @chrisadams6595
      @chrisadams6595 2 роки тому

      The hub spinners tighten in use, and they are handed .
      If they come loose , some idiot owner or mechnic in the past has mixed them up and got the wrong hub and wheel on the wrong side

    Interesting to see what you've done with it. A lot of great work has gone into that. I wonder - did you do it all yourself or did you get help by way of a restorer? More specifically, may I ask if you had it re-sprayed? I assume you did based on your description of the strip down. I ask because I also have a 1972 MGB GT. Aside from the colour (purple with yellow seats) it is exactly the same as yours. But the paint job my Dad did on it back around 2004 is starting to crack. The roof and bonet looks like a road atlas in places. Asked a local company hear in the East Midlands and the quote is upwards of £6K for a total body restore. More, if I take the restore further. I just don't have that kind of money laying around (two young kids, house etc). Also I notice you have Michelin tyres. May I ask where you got those? The only tyres I can find for mine aside from the cheapest budget tyres is Hancook tyres.

    • @mrjasonrblack4095
      @mrjasonrblack4095 3 роки тому +1

      Hi Ted thanks for the comments. I didn't paint it was done by a professional but I did strip the car right back. By that I mean wings offs and all new inner and outers replaced, all windows out sills inner and outer again replaced. The main killer in these cars is the time it takes in labour which isn't cheap. A good paint job will be around 5k but it's all the work to get it to that stage ready for paint thats also very expensive unfortunately! I run 175s rather than the original 165s on the car. They look a bit bigger and fill the arches better in my opinion. If you have Instagram have a look at my page jas_rb there are lots of photos on the process of restoration on the car 👍

    • @tedsmith_photography
      @tedsmith_photography 3 роки тому +1

      @@mrjasonrblack4095 very useful info thanks. On the tyre issue - you’re right that if I add 175 instead of 165 the options pretty much triple! But, how does one tell if 175 will still be ok? When I look at the 165s that are in it, the top of the tyre is just visible from the side. I’m worried that if I went with 175, they’d be too big? How do you work that out? If you’re not sure I could always ring the tyre place tomorrow but just thought you might have some knowledge based on your experience? Thanks

    • @mrjasonrblack4095
      @mrjasonrblack4095 3 роки тому +1

      175 should fit unless you have done any alterations to the rear wings but you can best check with a garage that can see your car. There is no change in speedometer ready as well that another reason I did it but as I say it does fill the arches a lot more. Some people like it some don't!
