If you’d like to look into a polisher that won’t break bank go for the Bauer long throw $120 DA from harbor freight. Also you got the right idea but if you didn’t already always good idea to clay bar and iron decontaminate before polishing to help get rid of any imbedded contamination, once that’s complete dry vehicle before polishing never polish on a wet surface. Then when using a compound your trying to cut so in this case you could use the orange pad to help remove more imbedded swirls etc. always prime the pads so put some product on the pad spread with finger, then make 3 little pea size dots on pad once product is spread! Then your good to start correcting! Slow and steady with a DA with todays clear coats and the pads your using + a orbital DA it’s pretty hard to mess up the paint! Other than that good luck man!
Thanks for watching and for the great information. Didn’t even think about clay baring? Good advice and will do on next buffing. Again thank you for your advice stay safe out there. 👍🏼✌🏼
Not bad, though I think the main concern people have with the SPTA or other Chinese brand pads isn't whether they'll work and do the job, it's how long they'll work. It's definitely nice to save the $2-$5 bucks per pad or whatever, but if you only get a car or two before they fall apart, then it's a different story and I'd rather just spend the additional for a Lake Country pad that'll do a ton of cars without breaking a sweat as long as you're cycling your pads when they get hot or gunked up. Also you got a pretty good result, but brushing up on technique and watching some videos with pointers and differences between a foam pad vs a wool pad or microfiber pad would help you continue to elevate your results. for example wool and microfiber are both definitely going to cut quicker than even a coarse foam pad, so typically you're going to need more passes/a Longer Cycling time to get as much cut but you should have less haze and marring.
Great information thank you for sharing. I do agree with your thoughts since I’m kind of new to this whole process I didn’t want to splurge too much money on the pads. The end result was decent for me. I don’t see myself polishing this car more than maybe once every six months or so but the information you provided helps a lot thank you and thanks for watching. Stay safe.👍🏼✌🏼
But then agn I've seen the higher quality pads fall apart after one car aswell so it's kinda hit or miss, but I think as a beginner and just starting out as a weekend warrior I see nothing wrong with the spta pads imo, especially if you go down the UA-cam rabbit hole on polishing and ppl say to use more than one pad on a car as in 1 pad per panel on both compounds and polish. So that's a total of bare minimum of 10 pads. As a beginner and just getting your feet wet I think spta is the way to go and build up to higher quality as you go. Just my 2 cents!
@@ballzdeep1017 that’s 2 cents well taken. I agree, weekend warrior is correct but with practice and hands on my polishing techniques will surely graduate to a more somewhat professional finish. For what it’s worth these pads in my opinion, did a marvelous job. I’m very pleased and happy with the results. Stay safe and sound.👍🏽✌🏽
I highly recommend changing the grease with some good quality high temp grease. Also buying a 5" backing plate for your DA. I put the Meguiar's one on mine. This helps with sound and vibration of the machine. Saves your ears and your hands. Not hard to do, there are several youtube videos showing the process. Enjoy!
11:43 looks like sanding marks from too coarse sandpaper being used on the panel before painting. The paint shrinks back into the rough sanding marks. The way around this is sand the rougher scratches out with a finer grade sandpaper. I.e that may be 180/240g, use 320/400 over the top
Did you wash and clay bar the paint on your car before hitting it with the DA, compound, and polish? You really, really ought to clay bar your paint before breaking out the DA.
Chris sorry for the confusion, unfortunately there will always be others that have a different way of doing things. This worked for me well and I’m pleased with the results, so I shared. Keep in mind I’m no professional hence DIY video for those that want to save a buck here and there and tackle similar task on there own. In closing go with what you feel is best for you, or perhaps pay a professional but keep in mind it won’t be cheap. Hope this helps stay safe and sound.👍🏽✌🏽
I'm sorry my friend but you doing it wrong ,from your video I can clearly see your da isn't even spinning maybe you putting to much pressure ,,,ask someone that knows how to use it for directions ...that's what I did
It's just the camera. UA-cam is only 24 frames per second, so stuff that spins really fast may look like it's barely moving when it's actually moving very fast.
Tony, thanks for watching. I don’t know man, all I can tell you is to each his own. Some response is better than none I suppose. Have a good day and stay safe and sound.👍🏽✌🏽
The end results speak for themselves, great looking car!

Spta is just as good as any expensive pads.

This was rough to watch. Wet dish rag, polisher on panel.

Confussed: I watched a video by another UA-camr, his advice differs greatly.
