    I have to say, I recently purchased a School Bus with a C8.3 Cummins which I believe could benefit from some electrical lift pump to assist the block mounted mechanical lift pump pulling through 50ft of 1/2 fuel lines (all new lines & OEM lift pump). That said, this beef between FASS and AirDog seems like a potentially manufactured east coast west coast rap style beef to drive eyeballs to ads/videos and boost sales for both companies. Ultimately I have decided to get a Vortex air/diesel fuel separator and a FuelLab 12v pump. Perhaps all this drama is organic in nature, but it has a distinctly manufactured vibe and if it is in fact organic in nature I have to question the logic/maturity of the leadership of AirDog for even acknowledging and participating in this juvenile back and forth. So inconclusion I am straying from the drama, manufactured or not and going with tried and tested suppliers and equipment albeit a bit pricier, because my spidy senses are smelling some BS here.

    Customer Service is Top Notch. I received the DF-165 with the motor I bought from a good friend. I guess it was manufactured around 2008 and it ran on another truck previous to the owner I got it from. It had sat on shelves between owners and I installed it on my truck in 2013. In 2017 the pump motor failed and I was able to get a replacement at a reduced cost. The support tech pulled up the serial number and we confirmed the original owner (friend of mine too). I waited to install it back into the system having other issues to address but, it's back in now and the truck is much happier.

    How can one introduce air back into the system without having radius cuts. The only way is to have cavitation, whereas, the fluid vaporizes due to low pressures.

    @M0BEYDICK 8 років тому +15

    Well done. One of the reasons I actually chose an AirDog unit over the competitor (we all know who they are, even though y'all remained classy) was because AirDog didn't try to size itself up to you-know-who, which I personally like. You-know-who's BS physics claims also turned me off to them before y'all put out the video. They probably still have a good product, but they are just so sleazy PR wise.

    I feel bad for you guys. There's so much dirt going on between two competing companies. Rumor on the street was, a father-son business went by the way of the son having issues working for pop and split to form his own company - FASS.
    Yesterday, I spoke to Dynamite Diesel (DDP) in Washington state on injector failures and, shockingly - he says injectors still fail due to clogging even with a FASS or Airdog but, I don't think he factored in dirty fuel supply lines post fuel air system. When doing my gasser, I found FOD was being introduced into the injectors via the fuel rails themselves. Cold rolled steel, coating eroded, rust formed, dislodged and clogged my injectors. I made my own fuel rails out of billet aluminum and switched all supply lines over to Teflon lined SS braided AN-type fuel supply lines and an-inline fuel filter at the fuel rails. I haven't had a single issue to date with injector FOD clogging up.
    I can attest that I've got hundreds of thousands of miles on my Cummins injectors without using a fuel air separation system without issue so far. I am in the process of sourcing DDP injectors. DDP recommended installing one of these systems, he says both are equally as good design wise.

    I purchased the Airdog II 4g for my 6.0 on black friday, went to install on my truck and got it all hooked up. Turned the key and it began dumping out fuel from where the base meets the motor. Called Pureflow AirDog and spoke with Chris and he told me to take apart the pump, turns out the o-ring was completely ripped in half... He overnighted me a new o-ring and it worked perfectly. Just disappointing that this happened after spending $700 on the pump..

    A year ago, after having some major issues with the stock system on my '08 6.4l F350, I decided to go with an after market system. Eventually I decided on the AirDog II 4G 165. Easy install (The vendor included a sump which I also installed); only took a couple hours. Darned quiet pump. It is mounted inside the frame just in front of the tank; There is no other place to put it on my truck without modifying other items. A big plus is the removal of the frame rail water separator/filter which is always a pain to change and reprime. A minus is the loss of the water in fuel warning, although I have never found water in the AirDog separator. Some of the advertising claims are easier starting (Nope. It does now start AS easy as the OEM system); better fuel mileage (Nope. At least not any worse.); better/smoother acceleration (OH, YEAH! No running out of fuel no matter how hard or long I keep my foot in it.) I have not had a problem finding filters--NAPA and their prices are almost everywhere. Over all, I am real happy with my choice. Every vendor sells it at virtually the same price; the one I picked also included their sump, so that's the one I bought.
    The only criticism is, during installation I wasn't anywhere near the torque specified for the bolts when the mounting plate started to bend. I took that as close enough.
    Great product, thank you.

      The only place where cavitation occurs is in a vacuum or on the suction side of the pump. And even if cavitation happens, the bubbles go away as soon as they are pressurized. On the pressure side of the pump, there is no place to introduce any air in the system that isn't already there.

      James Thomas with my the lift pump alone maybe 1 mile or possibly a little more. But it’s throttle response is better. It’s more crisp and the pedal doesn’t feel as heavy as before to make it move. Hit the throttle and it’s ready to go. The pump in my theory doesn’t give you mileage but makes it run so much easier you inadvertently pick up mileage from the cp3 pump not having to work as hard. But the difference is definitely night and day on acceleration. If I had a lighter foot I’m sure the mileage would be more but I mainly got it for helping/assisting the fuel pump. Worth every penny.

    I've been a mechanic for years,, yes all the crap about filters is a non issue and a bunch of crap that is not worth consideration fact is the newest FASS system is head and shoulders above in design and function. its time for AirDog to update their design, yes it works well, I have one on my DuraMax for 10+ years with zero issues and use straight water to lower EGT while towing. If AirDog would update their wiring size, and pump body I would consider getting one for my 40' Diesel Pusher Motorhome, I will go with the FASS on my rig... may be splitting hairs as both are top quality systems, its just that FASS has taken the time to make improvements,,, JUST the 10gauge wires and better connectors is reason alone for me to choose FASS. If AirDog where a lot cheaper I may go with them as I know their system has worked well for me over 10 years use, being virtually the same price Ill go with FASS for electrical upgrades. AirDog upgrade your system or lower your price to stay in competition

      We have upgraded our wiring harness and connectors to be 12Ga from the battery all the way to the wires on the motor. The connectors are now metripack 280 connectors to handle the higher amp draw for high pressure applications. 10Ga doesn't do a whole lot when you leave your motor wiring 14Ga.

      @@AirDogSales Technically wiring ampacity DOES make a difference from length...there's charts to prove it. All the extra ports on the FASS is what pushed it for me as well as the larger wire. I do wish the FASS height was lower like the AD, as I would have preferred inside the frame rail but on a Dmax the filters hang just below the frame rail which wasn't acceptable for me. But I also had to Fab my own bracket to shift the unit over and tuck it up as it hit the filler tube and hung too low otherwise.

      All we do is advertise our products while they continue to attack us. We can't let these false ads go without doing something about it. We don't have a beef with Aeromotive.

      70psi is way too high for a Cummins. With that fuel pressure gauge in, turn the adjuster out, CCW, untill the pressure reads 15-17psi. Back the jam nut off with a 9/16" wrench and take a flat blade screwdriver to back the pressure down.

      That dude and his mechanic sound like they are both retards 😂 his mechanic probably mainly works on gas cars trying to set the pressure that high. If you bought the pump for the cummins your cooking your pump and your fuel system. Why do you want someone to tell your something different so you can be right ? And cant exept that fact? your wrong lol the guy who told you to turn it down listen to him Dip shit
