It’s the living end, a fancy-dress ball for blood fiends in Count Von Krolock’s Transylvanian castle. Surely no mortal would be foolish enough to infiltrate this hemogobbling horror of a soiree. But partygoers notice something in the ballroom mirrors: the reflections of humans - vampire killers - dancing among them. Director/cowriter Roman Polanski (The Pianist, Rosemary’s Baby, Chinatown) spoofs vampire movies with this droll balancing act of shocks and laughs. He also portrays Alfred, mousy apprentice to a doddering researcher of vampirism (Jack MacGowran)...and the lovestruck defender of gorgeous Sarah (Sharon Tate) when the Count (Ferdy Mayne) tries to make her the ghoul of his dreams. It’s all fang-tastic fun!

A magical film with a wonderful sound track. Polanski is a genius.
This is my favorite comedic horror film ever made. The Production design and costumes are so cool it makes you feel like you are in these places. He is an absolute Genius! This film was made the year that I was born.

The first time I saw this gem, was in the mid seventies and it was Christmas time.
I have loved it ever since and have the dvd.
The atmosphere of this film is magical... the sunny bright days.. and the mysterious nights where everything is in the blue color of moon..

I always loved this music. You hear the
bloody greed of the vampires in these voices, the howling of winds and wolves. It's frightful, yet beautiful and graceful, just like the movie.
I can imagine the vampires grouped together in the dark raising their heads and clawed hands into the air ferocious with an endless hunger for blood

Fabulous high camp vampire film. Even Polanski's bad films are good. Alfie Bass, as the Jewish inn keeper, is a particular treat

2:11 The opening transition with the moon and the mountains moving was done by using a technique called Matte painting. Brilliant. It is also the only movie where we get to see Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate sharing credits in a Polanski film. After this movie, he directed Rosemary’s Baby.
Best horror movie ever. I watched it late at night on a black and white tv in the hospital as a kid. Always remembered it found it again in 90s and have watched it annually ever since

@@lolapanola282 Only the outdoor stuff with longshots of them sleding outside are done on that location. Every other snow scene including the beginning and end in the sleds, The tavern exteriors and all of the shots of them on snowy roofs are ALL done in the studios. The film shot in studio sets at Elstree Studios and MGM British Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire with all of the outdoor long shots being done in the Italian Dolemites and the Swiss Alps. It's cool when you have the money to get the right shots and it really shows in this picture. The Castle interior is so detailed that it's obvious that all of the top people were involved.

Most finest soundtrack for vampire movie! Pretty sick soundtrack and classical and movie is clearly Victorian gothic horror movie, only some has in humorous elements, i don't think this would really comedy, rather black comedy.

Hi everyone; can somebody advise me where can I see this movie for free pls? I saw this movie in cinema when I was a little girl and it made me feel like I was there over some night. But now this movie is terminated just in parts on UA-cam or for money to buy the movie. Why they on UA-cam wanna money for everything we wanna watch?!

Wait! This movie was released by MGM! Why was is released on home media by Warner Brothers?
Because the MGM movies from 1924 until The beginning of 1986 are owned by Turner entertainment and Turner is owned by Warner Bros
