It’s the living end, a fancy-dress ball for blood fiends in Count Von Krolock’s Transylvanian castle. Surely no mortal would be foolish enough to infiltrate this hemogobbling horror of a soiree. But partygoers notice something in the ballroom mirrors: the reflections of humans - vampire killers - dancing among them. Director/cowriter Roman Polanski (The Pianist, Rosemary’s Baby, Chinatown) spoofs vampire movies with this droll balancing act of shocks and laughs. He also portrays Alfred, mousy apprentice to a doddering researcher of vampirism (Jack MacGowran)...and the lovestruck defender of gorgeous Sarah (Sharon Tate) when the Count (Ferdy Mayne) tries to make her the ghoul of his dreams. It’s all fang-tastic fun!

One fine midday of yaar 99', 7 year old me decided to turn on TV for some 'family Sunday movie' and encountered this and it truly traumatized and mesmerized me. Now I'm glad that life put such gem on my path and I wasn't introduced to vampires through Twilight.

Same. Well, almost anyway. It was more like: my dad told me it was bedtime one weekend when I was 2/3/4 but I get alive at night, always have. So he suggested watching this movie 😂 the beginning credits roll… fake blood everywhere and I went straight to bed 😂 every time it would air after that (it was the 80’s), I’d watch a bit more. Until I had the biggest lady boner for Sharon Tate. When I found out what happened to her and THAT scarred me. So has what Polanski has been up to ever since. ☯️

It's a sad scene that the father of Sarah must find out that Count von Krolock kidnapped and bites his own daughter. This movie was a milestone of movie making. A german Blu-ray release would be great.

How many non-famous people are murdered to make statements? The main killer got fame from this, for his entire life. TV made him a star, even in prison. I hope Sharon is okay, and gets to confront the jackass that killed her.
