I love this woman. Can you imagine how different going to school would be if everyone was taught this..? Good lord, middle school and high school would be completely transformed.
Brené Brown just blows my mind every time I hear her speak ... her insights into the human condition are constantly insightful, but the most important part is that she understands both the good and the bad, she's never preachy, and a lot of her own power (at least to me) comes with her making herself vulnerable by letting us see that she has a lot of the same inner conversations with herself that we all have.
"You can never live the life that you wanna live and not disappoint other people. You're gonna piss some people off. You're gonna let down some people, if you are yourself."
Watching this for the 10th time. This is phenomenal. The whole world needs to read her books. Make this go viral. Reading her books flipped me upside down. Everything I had doubts and questions about regarding shame, vulnerability and authenticity hit me in the face. Brilliant.
Thank you, Chase...for being such an amazing host, for hearing her the first time she was with you and being the BRAVE creative man you are. You were so generous and kind and I appreciated you both. Thank you for talking about these valuable "tools" and traits and helping instill in all of us more courage and permission to be ourselves. I appreciate your heart, your vulnerability and your enthusiasm for this fellow Texan. Big gorgeous thanks to both of you. Kiki PS...I want a T-Shirt!!
"You've got something that only you can bring. If you try to make everyone happy, you will not bring it. And not utilizing your gifts is dangerous." Man, it takes a lifetime to hear and understand these words. Thank you for them, Brené!
Her sense of humor is gold. Currently watching everything with her name in it on UA-cam and definitely needing to read her books. Thanks for sharing the great interview. :)
Brene thank you. Watching this reminds me that the things you are talking about are fundamentally simple but really difficult work on the daily and in that work is how you change and grow. It has to be hard and uncomfortable in order to change.
Wow wow wow. Found this through Growthday on Brendan’s list of videos to watch and I will definitely be reading Brene Brown and listening more. Please keep teaching this wisdom to young, old and us “troubled” with judgment of ourselves and others alike. God bless you Brene and this platform!
Wow, I love Brené Brown, and still, I was not prepared for how incredibly strong this talk is. I actually caught myself saying "Brené Brown is God", haha. Absolutely amazing! Thank you so so much Chase, and all your team. And Chase, the space that you create with the people you interview is so precious. I love how relaxed, personal and deep it is. I wish I'll be as good as you one day :)
Thanks so much for conducting (and posting) this truly excellent interview, Chase! I hope everyone watches it more than once, and please take notes. It's such an encouragement to know others are in the arena of creativity and getting their asses kicked for it. Stay true!
So good to have people like you and Brene Brown sharing your thoughts, teories and experiences with us. We should have more of this on our education growing up.
Chase! thanks for being on this journey out front and out loud. You and Brené Brown are game changers. Great show. Glad you're back. I actually woke up at 4am (with my meanest voices) and found this episode. Could not be more perfect.
Ugh! Guilty! The exercise at the end at 1:09:00 made me cry!! That was rough! I am so thankful for all the great information, research, and tools!! So much needed!!1
I feel like the most vulnerable thing for me in my life, personal and professional - is to REALLY try my hardest, and to give up all of life's little pleasures, thinking - if this doesn't work and I fail - I wasted all this time and showed people I cared and I am now on my face and lost....
“Why are we not being given these tools early in life” yeeessssss!! I’m with Ya! That’s why we all must be some kind of radical or voice for this change!!
Thanks for another brilliant show and for bringing Chase Jarvis Live back!! Get so much from these interviews - Brene Brown is one of my favourites. Both of you rock. :)
Two of my favourite people sharing. Love it. Thank you SOOOO much. FYI, I've striped the audio from the video to make it easier to consumer for the audience. I hope that this is ok (as I want to share the message to as many people as possible!).
I’ve fallen so far in the last few years 🥺 but working to pick myself up… among all then counselling I’ve had, the work by Brené Brown and Natalie Goldberg, as well as Gary Zukav, Shannon Kaiser and Randy Paterson… these five have been so influential on my life as I try to be a better person.
Tomorrow I'm gonna take notes while watching this incredible talk and her books are gonna be the first books, I'm gonna read after learning speed reading.
I just found your show today and am hooked! I, too, am born and raised in Seattle (also at Greenlake) and am always looking for ways to grow myself personally. I am a huge Brene Brown fan and am now a huge fan of your show, too. Thank you for adding value to the world. How does one get lucky enough to get to be in your audience??

Confess I hadn't heard of Brené before (probably as I am UK based) but this was amazing and I have just watched her Ted talk - holy shit it's great. Thanks Chase (and Brené) - keep up the great work.
Love this interview....started reading Rising Strong even before the interview was over since it is the only one in the trilogy I haven't read yet. WOW!

I am so grateful for you Brene, just AMAZING!!!
great show
I know that this might not be important to some people, and it doesn't take away the fact that I definitely enjoyed this video and admire the work of Brene and yours Chase, but at 53:00 you reference who asked questions on the internet and you say that you have "people from Africa, England, Switzerland, Ireland..." .
