    I love this woman.
Can you imagine how different going to school would be if everyone was taught this..?
Good lord, middle school and high school would be completely transformed.

Brené Brown just blows my mind every time I hear her speak ... her insights into the human condition are constantly insightful, but the most important part is that she understands both the good and the bad, she's never preachy, and a lot of her own power (at least to me) comes with her making herself vulnerable by letting us see that she has a lot of the same inner conversations with herself that we all have.

Watching this for the 10th time. This is phenomenal. The whole world needs to read her books. Make this go viral.
Reading her books flipped me upside down. Everything I had doubts and questions about regarding shame, vulnerability and authenticity hit me in the face.
    Brilliant.

Thank you, Chase...for being such an amazing host, for hearing her the first time she was with you and being the BRAVE creative man you are. You were so generous and kind and I appreciated you both. Thank you for talking about these valuable "tools" and traits and helping instill in all of us more courage and permission to be ourselves. I appreciate your heart, your vulnerability and your enthusiasm for this fellow Texan. Big gorgeous thanks to both of you. Kiki

"You've got something that only you can bring. If you try to make everyone happy, you will not bring it. And not utilizing your gifts is dangerous." Man, it takes a lifetime to hear and understand these words. Thank you for them, Brené!

Brene thank you. Watching this reminds me that the things you are talking about are fundamentally simple but really difficult work on the daily and in that work is how you change and grow. It has to be hard and uncomfortable in order to change.

    - What to do when snagged by emotion
    1. Reckon with emotion
Get curious about what you're feeling
    2. SFD
Write down what you're making up, a shitty first draft.
When you own the story you get to write the ending.
    Write unfiltered and honest.
    3. We never share these struggles with people until our healing is not depended on their reaction.
"This happened then and there, and the story I make up is that this and that. And it really hurt my feelings."
If there's a real issue, set boundries.
Your rise is never dependend on other people.
He or she who has the greatest capacity for discomfort rises the fastest.
    - The most dangerous stories we tell ourselves are about our creativity, lovability, divinity
Just because someone didn't understand or put value on something I created doesn't change its worth or my worth.
No one is ordaned to take our story of our spirituality and say it's real or not real based on who we are or who we love or what we believe in.
Just because someone doesn't have the ability or the capacity to love us doesn't change our lovability.
    - Dealing with the 4am voice
    don't engage
"You know what, I hear you. I get it, I get how you're trying to protect me. But I'm good, thanks."
"I really get how you're trying to protect me, appreciate it. I'm going in anyway, thanks."
    - Advice for 25 year old self
"All the pleasing and proofing and perfecting that you're doing is getting in the way of what you're supposed to be doing. You can never live the life that you want to live and not dissapoint other poeple. You need to choose now.
You're gonna piss some people off, you're gonna let down some people, if you're yourself.
You have something that only uniquely you can bring to the world. And if you try to keep everybody around you happy while you're bringing it you will not bring it. And not utilizing your gifts is dangerous."
    - "Talk to yourself like you talk to someone you love"
    - trust = I'm choosing to make something to me vulnerable to your actions
    - b.r.a.v.i.n.g.
    Boundries
    Reliability
    Accountability
    the Vault
Integrity (choosing courage over comfort; choosing what's right over what's fun, fast or easy; practicing your values, not just professing them)
    Non-Judgement
    Generosity
    - Think of someone in your life that you have a lot of judgement around.
What if a higher being came down and said "That person is absolutely doing the very best he or she can do"
"I'm not sure whether or not they are. But if I move through the world assuming they are, it makes my life better."
What boundries need to be in place so can stay in your integrity and be generous towards this person?

I know that this might not be important to some people, and it doesn't take away the fact that I definitely enjoyed this video and admire the work of Brene and yours Chase, but at 53:00 you reference who asked questions on the internet and you say that you have "people from Africa, England, Switzerland, Ireland..." . It really gets me when Americans do that. Why do you distinguish European countries (more, you even say England and not just the UK), but put everyone from Africa in one bucket? Africa has 54 countries, very culturally different from one another and let's not even talk about the size comparing to oher continents. Just something to think about for the next time ;-)
