My biggest take away is that to become happier, be more present in the things that you do especially in this frantic social media world of multitasking.

Oprah, Oprah, you continue to share with us that which can make us more whole. Dr. Brooks, thank you for this collaboration. I had never heard of your work prior to this podcast. I will have to get, "Strength to Strength " as well.
To sum it all up, me search, not research. Teach what you are learning. I will heed this charge. Thank you both.

So beautiful. I welled up about eyes lighting up when seeing friends / family. My Dad lived with Dementia in his last few years of his life, and while he forgot a lot, he knew us - his immediate family and his eyes would light up every time we saw him. Bless you for mentioning this joyful occasion today:-)

Lovely conversation! To Chris' question: Deepak Chopra has a book "How to Know God" in which he combines scientific/medical understanding with the metaphysical, and I believe this is a helpful launch to navigating this query. As Marianne Williamson said, "We are spiritual beings having a human experience." Therapy X Spiritual guidance; Faith X Works; etc.

The example of seeing one's father on his/their knees is an example of vulnerability which is paramount to human understanding and self development for children. Something greater than ourselves is necessary to living this thing called "Life."

I enjoyed these three videos about your book, thank you. At the same time I wonder if at some point the book will be available in Spanish. And finally, and I would say the most important thing after listening to Professor Arthur, it would be wonderful for schools to teach the subject of happiness, starting with middle school.🙏🏻

We should not try to control our friends. If we don't agree...we don't agree!
    Remain friends❤

😊 I resonate with Oprah the most through her friendship with Gayle as I, too, have a friendship with my best friend that I treasure. My 'Gayle' is named Connie. We've been friends for nearly 35 years and we have never had a fight or have been disrespectful to each other. I'm extremely proud of that fact. In writing this, it's occurred to me that I've two other dear friendships that began before and after my friendship with my bestie in which both have mimicked the same trend of respect. 🥳 Unfortunately, both of those sweet friends have passed away, both unexpectedly. 😢 There are more similarities than differences between those friendships and each one has made profound positive impacts in my life. It is beyond words how important and precious these friendships are to me. I love my bestie and want the best for her (and her loved ones) always. ❤

I agree with Oprah on building your internal pillar with a Higher Power but not religion because when you loose family & friends along life's path you need the inner strength to go back to in hard times.

A Big Thank You from me for doing such an Awesome "Build the life you want". You guys need to do series more in how you can teach us more. This can't be it. I haven't read the book bc it's not available here in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia yet. But each episode makes me eager to grab and read it. If i could ask you this question for both of you " What did you discover about yourself from writing this book and wrapping this particular Podcast on "Build the Life you want" that you didn't know before & even with your coauthor?" Thank you Michael Hassen, Host of "The Xperience Show Radio Live"

Oprah you can accept people for who they are, we’re all children of God. It sounds like she struggles with forgiveness. If people disagree, live and let live. You can coexist with people who have different views. They are not abuse, he is correct.

As for believing in something bigger than me, my 'faith' is about being awed by the mystery of the cosmos and the universe, rather than adhering to specific religions, gods, and their concepts of heaven and hell. To me, religions often emphasize divisions rather than promoting shared humanity. I appreciate everything Arthur has to share but respectfully disagree on the faith discussion.

The dichotomy between science, religion, and transcendence is false. Transcendence doesn't require faith in God or any so-called divine books, which are clearly written by humans and not supernatural beings. Faith in shared humanity and feeling small before the universe is sufficient to cultivate humility for me. I don’t need gods or their messengers.

This guy is annoying a hell. So you should ignore a sociopath's murderous tendencies and just say Oh, I disagree, let's play golf. This guy may just be a sociopath himself. And people focus on someone's politics when dating these days because we acknowledge that people today are willing to acknowledge that politics are racially based.
