Rahul is not professional as a newsman. He is overtly nationalistic and he suffers from severe confirmation bias. His usual trick-of-trade is to put across his own thesis in different ways to his interviewee and tries to strong-arm his interviewee to confirm it.
In this interview, Rahul tried so many times to get The Hon. Ambassador Kishore Mahbubani to confirm his thesis that China is crumbling, China came begging to India to sign this truce, China is desperate for Indian markets, etc.
The Hon. Ambassador's rich experience as the former President of the UN Security Council and Permanent Secretary of Singapore's MFA shone through. He was calm and balanced, patiently but firmly swatting away those nationalist pretensions and explained why the de-escalation is in the strategic interests of BOTH countries. Of course BOTH countries benefit from lowering tensions and improving cooperation. Why would India sign this truce if China is the main beneficiary?
As for the truce - In the end, cooler (and wiser) heads in both countries prevailed. Kudos to the wise and mature leaders and diplomats of India and China.

This is the first time I’m watching this host and he is such an emotional wreck! He lets his ego about being ‘Indian’ get to him, that he doesn’t listen to what Prof. Mahbubani is fully saying. He seems to be such an anti-China hater. Prof. Kishore Mahbubani is a fellow Singaporean and I’ve respected him and his writings for many years. He speaks with great care and diplomacy. If the average Indian and Indian media journalists like, Mr Rahul keep up their inflated and indignant ego about being Indian and being perpetually offended by China; then they will remain stuck in that vicious cycle of never MOVING FORWARD! It will be of their own doing. As Prof Mahbubani said, diplomatic relations rise and wane, but the most important thing to do, is to start with the latest/ newest starting point and move forward to make amends and improvements in the bilateral relationship. Prime Minister Modi is a great and strong leader. He wants to take the great nation of India to the next level. I believe China is happy for India to keep rising. As a Singaporean, I would like to see both India and China become powerful, secure and friendly towards each other.

I hope people understand the fundamentals beneath the surface of the India China Border issues:
    1) India China Border issues are GOOD for India. It creates a "security narrative" to keep India united. Nothing unites a people better than an overwhelming external threat, no matter how real that threat is.
    2) China won't invade India. Conflict yes, war no. It is quite simple. India and China are separated by a HUGE WALL. China knows India cannot come over the WALL to invade China. And India knows China cannot sustain the logistics of supporting an invading army coming down from the WALL. They need to face billions of Indians on the plain. Not possible.
    3) The armed conflict in 1962 is just that: an armed conflict. India wants to "Look North" (aka, squeeze and squat into South Tibet) and China confronted India with an iron fist. But there is no war. China quickly retreated because, again, there was a serious logistics issue to sustain its force on the other side of the WALL.
    4) But India would use this minor 1962 armed conflict to create a security narrative that there is a "Scary Northern Dragon" ready to invade India. So, we Indians need to be united and fight that dragon! With this narrative, the Indian government can distract its people from domestic issues, when the needs rise. Indian military will use this security narrative to squeeze for more government funding. Indian media will use constant reporting on this scary neighbor to get more views. "China Threat" becomes an industry for many people. Of course we cannot give up this industry for "peace." Peace won't make money. Scare does.
    5) More than four years ago, Modi gambled that Trump would be in office for yet another 4 years, and even more years if his VP win after he leaves the office. So, Modi instigated a border conflict with China, expecting that China was in the middle of a trade war and tech war with US, and it would make concession to India. But the plan backfired. China swiftly gave India a bloody nose. Worst yet, Trump left office right after, and Biden had not provided more FDI and friendshoring to India, just empty talks in QUAD. As result of the border conflict, India's thriving economic cooperation with China suffered greatly. The Chinese imports, including finished products, components, chemicals and heavy equipment continues to enter India, as India's GDP growth depends on them. But there is no infrastructure and manufacturing ecosystem corporation between India and China. This lack of cooperation contributes to the stagnated Make In India progress. India's manufacturing percentage in GDP actually dropped, not grown, since Modi took office.
    6) At the end, Indian people lost. Instead of riding on the rise of China, Indians are constantly pulling back and forth about this China Threat, which results in chilled economic relationship with the biggest manufacturing nation on this planet. It is time for a change. Thus, you see the thawing of India China relationship, with the BRICS meeting as the catalyst. From China's perspective, as long as India sits on the fence, not completely siding with US/EU camp, it is GOOD ENOUGH. So, China smiles to India. India smiles to China. A new beginning. But for how long?

If India insists on having the last say, it will retard the Asian century progress. India immediate needs are to develop the economy fast and steady which require a sustained period of political stability.
Singapore professor is right that foreign relation is built on convergence of national interest not blind trust. Current good relations with US is no exception.
Because of one party rule, China has very long term
Plan. Hopefully India does not miss the current rate opportunity for greatness by short term gains.

This Rahul guy appears to a fool and no journalist. The poor fellow has to re learn basics of journalism!
He tried to act more loyal than the king attributing a lot India has never said officially.
He must learn to restrain himself and try to get useful analysis from great scholars like Kishore Mahbubani.
Not try overwhelming them like this guy tries to!

There are border disputes between China and India, both countries should address these issues,America should not be allowed to use India as its soldiers in America war on China,Taiwan is integral part of china just like Andaman is part of India, this fact is recognised by America and India, even then America is supplying weapons and soldiers to Taiwan, this is equivalent to sending weapons to terrorists in Kashmir, north east of India,do India encourage?

Don't Indians listen to their Leaders speeches on what Agreements they make and their reasons? Don't they understand? Why should Indians and others try to understand it from reporters or medias views according to their interpretations? And it is not the job of reporters or medias to determine the geopolitics of a country unless directed by the Govt. of the day. Who rules the country and have the power to decide geopolitical strategies?

5 minutes into the interview is all that I could stomach seeing how mediocre and unprofessional Rahul is as an interviewer, and otherwise a huge waste of time saved by Kishore’s wisdom.
Rahul reflects the general ignorance and blind nationalism of the Indian population thinking that it is China that crawls to India for help. The fact is india is unable to protect its investors in manufacturing industries and many had left! Its many anti China moves had horribly backfired on itself, amongst many other failures, and the rest it’s not hard to see now who needs who more.
