I'm going in two days to get my hair done. Now I'm totally confused, lol. I have long hair, so I thought spiral would be best, but now I like like SEVEN different perms!
I remember always getting a beach wave perm all the time because I didn’t know how to take care of my curly hair ( 3b ) at the time, but i liked the way it looked
The pyramid perm is beautifullll. I want to get it because my natural curls/waves/straight hair just hasn't decided what it wants to do. How do I explain what I want to my hair dresser?
If you ask a stylist to give you a pyramid perm and they don't know what a pyramid perm is you need to run like hell that is taught in the basics of Cosmetology nowadays or at least it was when I got my teaching license and cosmetology and esthetician
Twice now I've had perms done in an attempt to get big bouncy curls. I want my hair to fall between my chin and shoulders after the perm and be big and wild. Both times the curls were too small and my hair hung limp and flat. Guess I'm going to have to seek out a perm expert in my area. I need wild curly hair!
Hallelujah!! Thank you for your video!!! I am finally able to see the actual results and decide which is my favorite instead of playing eenie meenie miny moe!!
Can you do a tutorial about how to style the perm including what products to use? The "after" pictures are so beautiful, but when I style my perm it just lays flat and can be frizzy.
This video was so helpful! I REALLY want to get a perm in 2022, but don't know what style.. Does anyone have recommendations for someone with long, naturally straight blonde hair?
My question is about the difference your HAIRCUT makes in the results- after years of growing my layers out to basic 1 mid length hair, I'm unsure how much layering is necessary to achieve bouncy corkscrew curls..I don't really like layering but I also don't want to look like a wet dog after perming.. And do you cut and then perm OR perm and then cut ? Please..some tips !!
Hi there. The difference a haircut makes when getting a corkscrew perm depends on the thickness and health of the hair. For instance, if your hair is very thick with no layers, then some longer layers are needed to achieve bounce. If your hair is thin, then less layer is required. If the hair is damaged or dry ends, then you should have your hair trimmed. Any cutting should always be done BEFORE the perm. Once your curls are set, you should not brush or comb your hair for 48 hours to ensure curl formation.
Classic Hair Design not every hairdresser would agree a lot would wait until after to cut...seeing how the hair has changed allows the stylist to judge the amount off hair to take off
For those sitting at home thinking to fix their hair on their own this is probably the best video ever I just watched like 20 perm videos and I'm like why they all look so different now have pinpointed which way to roll my hair at home to create the pattern I want I really appreciate this video
I try to get as much information on the spiral perm I’ve been seeing really tight curls I want like how the picture is like in the middle not to loose and not to tight what can of rods can I use for the type in the picture?
Hi there, a spiral perm does not have to be tight! Depending on the hair length and desired curls, a small, medium, large or extra-large rollers or sponge curler can be used, just as long as the curlers are rolled on an ANGLE to created a downward curl. It's also very important for the perm technician to start winding the roller at the bottom working their way up to the top. If you have fine hair, then wrap in a small section using lots of curlers to create tons of curls and fullness. If the hair is thick, long and heavy, fewer curlers and large sections for just curls. I hope this helps. For more personal information. Send me a picture of your hair to, abbyclassichairdesign@gmail.com
I've been considering a perm for a few weeks, and I have my heart set on the Beach Wave 2 style. Is that the name of the perm I tell my stylist? My hair is colored, and is very long (to my waist). I haven't had it trimmed in a loooooooooong time, like...years. I'm worried about damage, so is there a perm that is more gentle for color treated hair?
Talk to your stylist at length about what you're going for (i.e. a beach wave perm with tight, well-defined curls). Bring plenty of pictures for them to look at and don't stop discussing until you feel like you're both on the same page. (This could be done at a consultation which most places give for free.) Your hair will suffer damage. That just comes with putting chemicals in your hair. Discuss your hair's history with your stylist so that they can be sure to take that into account when planning. Once your hair is permed, you can get a little trim to help get rid of any split ends and do a conditioning hair mask after your perm is set and you're able to wash it again.
Ive been thinking about getting a perm but Ive been petrified that Id end up with what I call the Granny perm that so many ladies of the 80's ruined their hair with! After seeing this Im wanting a perm evwn more! These ALL looked fantastic!! Now the big question.... How do I choose the right hairdresser who can and will give me a great perm without frying my hair???? A beautiful perm is only as good as person giving the perm!! I would truly appreciate any help or tips you have in finding someone who knows what they're doing and loves doing it.❤
I love the spiral perm!! My hair is really long, not damaged ( i have not dyed it in 8 years) and not too thin but not too thick either. What products do you recommend for my hair? I have been wanting to perm my hair for the longest and it was not until I found your videos that I have decided I will get it done! Also what kind of rod would be best? I love the way the one on the video looks! Thank you!
This has been very helpful for deciding which perm to get and how to roll my hair. I like the look of the beach and the volumizing perm the best, but am wondering how to maintain the volume at the root if you neutralise after taking out the rods? I have fine Asian hair and worry the weight will pull it down at the root, which to me defeats the purpose of getting it permed in the first place.
Also, I've never seen the pyramid perm anywhere in all my searches, it turns out beautifully. What kind of of rods are normally used to create that exact look? I have hair almost to my waste, will it shrink it up too much? And can you avoid shrinking it up by using larger rods underneath without effecting the outcome too much? . I'm debating on spiral perm and now that one, since seeing it.
Hi There. Pyramid perms are beautiful on long hair. Instead of traditional curlers, a long, sponge curler is used and because the curlers are rolled on an angle the curls fall down-ward, to maintain the length. Hope this helps
Most of these perms will still need a lot of effort put in to get the desired look, you’ll be disappointed if you think you just..... WASH & GO... LIFE AND HAIR ARE NEVER THIS EASY 😎
C G especially with long hair, if you just leave it to dry naturally, the weight of long hair will pull the top sections straight Don’t get me wrong It’s not hard to dry with a diffuser holding the curl in the cup of the diffuser making sure you remove all the water, unless off course you want flatness in the top sections but really head upside down until roots are dry gives the volume needed, so much more I could say but this is not my blog 😎

I found this very interesting but the most important part of the equation is the customer's hair type - Some hair is so resistant he will not take a curl some is so fine it will frizz and if it is color-treated and damaged it could become brittle and not curl or break- I think she may have used dummies for this demo

Hi there. You can use any size rollers with any perm technique. Since you have curly hair, maybe all you need is a good hairstylist that knows how to work with curly hair and help you find the right hair product to help enhance your curls.
Just to insure that curls will develop. Would Rolling the rods on and sleeping with them for a night help? afterwards in the morning you wet the hair & then add all the solutions .?

In 2017, I decided to get a perm. At that time my hair was about the middle of my back. The lady used 1 box on my hair. She charged me about $60 for the perm but after my 3 day wait to wash, it washed out.
they usually last about 3-6 months and you have to maintain your curls by using curly hair products as someone with naturally curly hair would do. It would most likely be frizzy if you just washed Ur hair and put no curl products in!
Cool! Thanks. Just graduated cosmetology school. The stretched out, half way curls are now being held by a magnetic roller creating a helicopter look hence the term "helicopter perm." It helps create a halo look. 😍 It's soo much fun to look at in the making! Now i know 2 more ways for the half and half look. 👏🏿👏🏾👏🏿Thanks. 🤗

I have my appointment tomorrow for a spiral perm. The last perm I had was 7 years ago when I had a pixie cut that I was growing out that was the I hate it stage, so I got a perm. I have only had maintenance cuts to cut split ends for the last 7 years and my hair is almost to my waist. I know this will probably take 5 hours due to very thick hair and probably cost around $250. I miss the 80’s every salon was doing it and you could easily find a $29.99 special. Now it’s considered a specialty type hair style and they charge you up the b** and are much slower. The salons back in the day were always doing perms so they were quick, had the routines down so they could get to the next customer.
Hi there! You're right that perms were super popular in the '80s, and hairstylists got really quick at doing them because they were in such high demand. However, I've been in the industry since then and was a salon owner, and I can tell you that I never did a perm for $29.99! Back then, my perms were priced between $69 and $99, depending on the length of the hair. As for your spiral perm, with thick, waist-length hair, $250 for five hours of work is a great deal! Just to give you an idea, I recently did a perm on thick, long hair for $550, and it took about three hours. So, you might want to be prepared for a higher cost, just in case. On another note, if your hair is thick, long, and healthy, a spiral perm done by a professional will look absolutely gorgeous on you. Good luck with your perm!
@@ClassichairdesignCa Thanks for the heads up that it may cost more. I appreciate that so I can let my my husband know it might be double what I thought. My twin sister and I had our first perms in 1982 as we were the bride maids in a wedding. That is why I remember the $29.99 because my dad was saying that $$60. Was a lot since I have 4 brothers that they had to buy suits and shoes for so my mom had to plead with him since she was a stay at home mom.
I just got it done, she charged $220 3 hours 40 minutes. She had a walk-in Half way through that said she wanted what I was having done so she was trying to do both of us at the same time. I thought that was very unprofessional since I had made the appointment in advance. She claimed she been doing it for 37 years. She was fast but I really felt I wasn’t listened to and I could see the other client getting upset. I see a lot of hair breakage at top. Regretting it now… it’s definitely not the spiral perm I had asked for nor does it match the photos of the curl I wanted. Really rough with me as far as jerking my head around and pulling the rods out with thick strands of hair. The first treatment she applied burned my scalp and I said something and she rinsed it right away, read the package and put another treatment on and forgot about me while doing the other clients hair…never set a timer…just really pissed off. I paid her in full but refused to tip and told her I wouldn’t be back. I was very clear what I wanted.

Thank you so much those videos helped a lot now I can know what they look like and what to expect what type of person they are because I’m currently in school right now and this helps me a lot
I wish I can get a perm but I have a full foil with bleached blonde hair(not too damaged hair) on the bottom part and I read online that you can get a perm with colored hair as long as you take very good care of it and wait about a month after you color it to go get the perm done but I went to get my hair done yesterday and they told me once it’s bleached it’s a no go. So sad :(
Thank you for your inquiry. The body wave perm gives a natural looking curl. The spot perm is used to balance out naturally curly hair that has uneven curls in some spots that may not be uniform. Therefor, the two perms will achieve that same look exactly. I hope this answers your question as to why I used the same picture.

For instance, if your hair is very thick with no layers, then some longer layers are needed to achieve bounce. If your hair is thin, then less layer is required. If the hair is damaged or dry ends, then you should have your hair trimmed. Any cutting should always be done BEFORE the perm.

(This could be done at a consultation which most places give for free.)
Your hair will suffer damage.

Just to insure that curls will develop. Would Rolling the rods on and sleeping with them for a night help? afterwards in the morning you wet the hair & then add all the solutions .?
too many tiles I've had hairdressers tell me that. oh well that spiral perm you can get it. it's the same as this or that and it's not! Now I want to find someone around me that knows all about these different ones so I can get the right one
Unfortunately I have paid out so much money over the years and never got these results.😢but man i still want it.
where are you located? you seem to know what you're talking about and I can't find one around me that does
I had a perm ..it turned out afterwards ..flat and straight just like when I first walked into the hairdressers . 😢 !
This video is very helpful for perm. I learned lots of kind of perm. Thanks a lot.
My hair is 12 inches long, and cant decide, and am a boy,
Very informative! Thank you!
I have medium hair past my shoulders kind of in the middle of my back would they cut it short? Or make it shrink too much if I got a pyramid perm?
What rods do you use for the piggyback perm ?
In 2017, I decided to get a perm. At that time my hair was about the middle of my back. The lady used 1 box on my hair. She charged me about $60 for the perm but after my 3 day wait to wash, it washed out.
I want a ombre perm finally found out what it is
how long they last? 1 month or? it does not affect if I wash my hair?
they usually last about 3-6 months and you have to maintain your curls by using curly hair products as someone with naturally curly hair would do.
I'm going in jan for a beach wave perm I have a wave in my hair to start with
Pyramid Perm ❤️
It's great to know all these different styles, I was looking for this, so thank you! I think every hairdresser should know this.
One downside in this video is that you put same perm outcome on different perm waving styles??
Thinking of getting beach waves
I’m here after deva curls took my natural curls . I don t have definition and volume and . My hair look like a brown dry grass . Very dry dull and freeze My hair was long and now I have to cut very short I been doing so much and it look nothing works My hair is very damage . But I feel ugly with my hair right now .
I am sorry to hear this. Use lots of treatments and your natural curl and length will return,
I subscribed! This is so educational for a hairstylist!
I´m looking for a very defined curly look. Is it possible to get a even more defined look than 1:42 pyramid perm? Because some parts are looser..i want it more curly without getting a coily look.
This video is perfect. So glad I watched it. I want a perm even more now!
How do I tell my hair stylist how to lay my rods without offending them?
Hey there. Refer to my video and kindly show the stylist the type of perm you want.
That stack perm was WILD!! 😮 Couldn't find where the head shape was behind it..
This might be my favorite video on the internet.
very informative
You are Einstein.. can't believe you have such great experience and knowledge.. great work😃
I have my appointment tomorrow for a spiral perm.

Thanks for the heads up that it may cost more.
I just got it done, she charged $220
3 hours 40 minutes. She had a walk-in
Half way through that said she wanted what I was having done so she was trying to do both of us at the same time.
I don't know what size perm rods I should use. My hair is long (about half way down my back) and quite thick. I want to do the pyramid perm but I'm not sure which size perm rods to get? Can anyone help?
I have short hair. I’m growing it out from a buzzcut done in July last year. What perm type would you recommend
How long should a person wait between perms to try a different perm style? Example going from body wave perm to a spiral perm. Thanks
i want to warn you something, dont u ever try to get a perm, i got a perm before 8 months and now my hair is fucked up, i losed so much hair and i dont know how to heal it.
Very informative!
I third that
Thanks for the video! I will think about offering more diversity in my perms.
And....the perfect cares???
Great info...now I want a perm! Lol
Wow they don't teach us all the different perm
Wish I can get this done but dont trust most stylist. They ruined my hair years ago. Where are you located? And do you still do hair ? Or just teach in utube?
Did anyone else think all of the outcomes looked amazingly just like the others?
Thank you so much those videos helped a lot now I can know what they look like and what to expect what type of person they are because I’m currently in school right now and this helps me a lot
Thank you for this! I really like beach wave perm 2
So sad :(
gonna get volumizing perm after this video! thanks
This was super helpful
This was just the video I needed to see. I didn’t know there were so many different types of worms. Thank you. 😊
So the body perm and the spot perm give the exact same results ...
All look almost the same..
i have natural curls why am i here
