Back 1 year later and i can say that i had my head up my ass a year ago when understandding the swing... I have my swing working a shitton better now though.
Whats scary is that its my 2nd year of baseball and i can hit the ball fucking hard consistenly. My mechanics are clean, but i still tear my swing apart for not being perfected. My trainer was impressed with my hitting and throwing, but when we switched to the hitting again and made a tweak i started banging them even harder. He said, ''You know how you where getting into sequence and hitting them hard? i want to get you started on the leg kick so you don't flop forward like a fish on a changeup.'' But then my power increased alot in the cage and the first one i hit made him have a ''try not to be impressed so they don't stop doing what they're doing but your really honestly impressed.'' And i think the best part about that... is being bullied at school for being good at something.
If the average bat speed for A major league HR is 77 then 1 person I know would hit HRs a lot since his bat speed is 88-94 and his a sophomore in college.
Anthony Ricevuto bat speed isn't everything... how strong you are and also how heavy your bat is adds more power. I can swing a toothbrush a lot faster than my bat but it's not gonna get me homeruns.
My kid is 11 and uses a -3 and he hits the ball farther than all the -12 through -5's on his team and he does it with a slower bat speed because there is very little give on his bat or his body. He has been taught rotational hitting his whole life and started at 10yrs old hitting balls over the fence. 95lbs 10yrs old 220' with a -5. Starting weight this season 110lbs with a -3 and distance remains to be seen, my guess would be 250'. As soon as I hear a hitting coach mention hands or knob I have to explain rotational hitting to them and let them know my son is learning more should plain and getting the bat going up through the hitting zone. I noticed my kid would be a rotational hitter because of all the golf he plays. Linear hitting is way too hard to adapt for golfers. With rotational pretty much the only difference from the golf swing is the weight distribution after the point of contact. He drives the golf ball well over 200yds consistently at 95lbs.

Guessing on the pitcher's pitch before it is thrown gives the batter and idea on the speed, break, and the possibility of it being a strike or ball. That also depends on if the pitcher is hitting the locations in the strike zone on the batters beforehand, if the pitcher shows only selected few in his arsenal, and the synergy between both pitcher and catcher knowledge of the batter's strike zone swinging percentage. Josh Donaldson is great with his timing with adjusting to the off-speed pitch if he was looking for the fastball. Every batter is a "guess hitter" but their ability to adjust their swing to the pitch delivered is what makes them great MLB players and even future and current Hall of Famers.
mr white i thank you for doing my work for me me..f i played triple a till i was 16 and i was a great guess hitter to the point where i only had 5 strike outs my final year and 3 of thos were in tournament play...when i pitched iand got ahead in the count i would go up and in to set up the curve there for when i was at bat and a pitcher would give me an up and in i would GUESS the next pitch would be a curve ball and most of the time i would be right and be able to make solid contact with the white object coming towards me......the funny part is i was quoting an article in si about donaldson and how he spends countless hours watching film so he can guess along with his pitches so he can get that big leg kick going.....and these guys jump all over it so if the got a problem with me i guess they should also have a problem with jd himself......fuckin morons lol

My 13 year old son swings a bat at an average of 60 miles an hour(wood -3 bat). I think the pros are averaging a little higher than 77.
