    Is this one better than FG800 / FG700S / FG700MS? Thank you, great review ! ❤️

      Not necessarily better, just a little different (with the different bracing) With any of the above mentioned you can't go wrong in this price point!

    Such a pleasant surprise to hear "Trust Me Baby This Is Love" on this video. I only know the Rick Price / Tina Arena version. Are there others?

    Which hardcase is featured in the video?

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  3 роки тому +1

      Hello Minh. I don't recall the brand, it was a standard black hard shell case from the local music store. Built to fit a dreadnought style body :)

    Shame you put on the capo if it strips out some bass. Would love to know how it really sounded with fingerstyle.

      Hi Brian - There's definitely no lack of bass without capo. Great value!

    There’s a guitar store near me that has an FG800J, but NOBODY can tell me what the J designates. Do you know?

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  Рік тому +1

      Hello J. Taylor, at first I thought maybe Jumbo or something to do with the internal bracing of the guitar. I did find this, and I'm not sure whether it is correct: Yamaha regularly labels a certain shape as "jumbo", even though it's not a Jumbo in the usual/Gibson sense.
      They often refer to the LL series as "jumbo" for instance, they're not what you think of as a Jumbo, but they are definitely a slightly different shape to the dreadnoughts.
      You'll notice they never have a cutaway as well.

    Can anyone let me know what the action was like out of the box , I'm a sucker for low action !! 👍😎

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  3 роки тому

      Always recommend a general setup after you buy your guitar. Pretty good out of the box, but have your luthier make some little changes and you'll be happy

    How actually loud is it? I'm considering buying it, but I'm afraid that it will be too loud. At the moment I'm playing classical guitar, which I find pretty quiet and I'm wondering how much louder acoustic guitar is

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  4 роки тому

      It is a louder acoustic with larger projection and volume. I would test it out in store. You'll notice quite a volume difference going from a nylon string classical to a full size dreadnought Yamaha steel string. Perhaps if you're looking for less projection in a steel string, try a slightly smaller body size.

    Hey do you recomend this guitar im a beginner im gonna use it to learn and then sing

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely. As a performer I'm fortunate to play professional grade acoustic instruments. I still keep a FG800M for an "around the house" guitar, with upgraded Grover tuners and Nubone nut/saddle :) They're great value

  • @Grindermetalhead
    @Grindermetalhead 3 роки тому +1

    How high is the action at 12th fret out of the box without any additional setup on these guitars? Is this exclusively a beginner guitar or is it suitable for someone more advanced that just needs an affordable acoustic to mess around with and not have to worry about scratching the finish or dinging it as they do with their pricier instruments?

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  3 роки тому

      This particular guitar was playable out of the box for someone more advanced, in my opinion. If you find one that isn't, a good music store may include a basic setup with the purchase of this guitar

    What kind of elixir strings do you recommend for the fg800?

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  3 роки тому +2

      Hello Eduardo, this will boil down to the type of playing you'll be doing. Personally, I put on Elixir Nanoweb Light (12-53) because they sound "big", last a long time (baked on coating) and I find they're easier with acoustic lead guitar (which I end up doing a fair bit of with live performance). For a more "natural" sounding string that are uncoated, that doesn't break the bank, maybe try a D'Addario EJ16. Cheers

    what guitar case did you use for the guitar?

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  4 роки тому

      Nick, this is a basic hard-shell case designed for dreadnought style guitar bodies. I'm sure you can pick one up at your local shop

  • @leafclover8891

    This or fg850? 850 have mohagony body and binding but it cost twice as much, is it worth it?

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  3 роки тому +1

      Mahogany is not my first choice, personally, I prefer the combo of Spruce and Rosewood. I would try to play them back to back if you can, and see if there's that much additional value in the FG850. Happy hunting!

    ive been playing the electric guitar for about a year now and im about to get an acoustic, is this one worth it for sort of an intermediate guitarist?

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  3 роки тому

      I think the value is there for the price. I started my first few years of playing on a budget Yamaha acoustic. If you decide you need an EQ/ plug-in capabilities for a live stage, or your budget expands, then you may look at a different option. Just make sure you get a good general set up done on the guitar you choose!

    Hey I was thinking about purchasing this guitar off of eBay.. for about $200.00. Is this guitar worth the money and if so does it stay in tune?

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  3 роки тому

      Hi Ronald. I like Yamaha for the consistency in their budget guitars, so likely worth it for you to grab one for a decent price.
      It should hold tune. If it doesn't, replace the old strings first. Make sure the tuners are all functioning properly if you still have any tuning issues. Likely you'll be fine
      Please like the video if you found it helpful!

    • @SixStringTime
      @SixStringTime  3 роки тому

      P.S. - Stretch your strings, let the strings settle before you assess how well it holds tune

      Six String Time yea I live in the US and there is a Guitar Center about 20 mins away from my house but I’m not sure if that’s reliable. Another question, is the action high or low? If it is high, is it manageable for an intermediate player.
