    Carlos has got more racecraft than Charles

    Carlos has been one of my favourite drivers since torro Rosso. I thought he did very well against max and I don’t think he gets enough credit for his driver skill. He was solid at McLaren and he’s been closing on Charles since he joined. Constantly improving each year. I think in a red bull he’d be way more consistent than Perez. I think he’d be maxs closest driver partner.

    Loved Mr Diplo. His concluding remarks were outstanding. Thanks for bringing such nuanced discussions to this space. 25 points to Shez for “derogate”.

    Gentlemen, quality discussion as ever.
    Mr. Diplo you have my respect for openly swearing allegiance to Sir George, Defender of the Merciless.
    I am glad to have the pleasure if hearing your opinions because I don't have social media ( thank god for that)
    As much as I'd like to see Nando and Max going head to head it was never going to happen. You don't wanna do business with Flavio Briatore when your team is in Limbo. Jos knows all about it from the time he drove for Benneton.
    I don't think it reflects well on a driver if he has a "bad season"
    The fandom is ruthless and will judge no matter past achievements.
    Fans like a fighter spirit as we can see now with Carlos. I hope we can see that from Lewis again in next races because at the moment I don't see that fighting spirit.

    Isn't Carlos to blame for not having a 2025 seat , didn't he have a 1+1 deal with Ferrari but wanted more?

    Sainz needs a team built around him after all these years being a second fiddle. Best bet to achieve is by investing the time in a crappy Sauber hoping Audi will live up to its historyin motorsports.
    Going to Merc is silly imho. Car is nowhere, team is lost and Toto wants Max, then Kimi, then George and lastly as a 4th fiddle, Carlos.

    • @tyredf1pod
      @tyredf1pod  2 місяці тому

      Yeh I take your point but Audi/Sauber are such a shot in the dark. One day we’ll talk about the level I think James Keys is at as a TD but I have to say I don’t have much hope in that project just yet

    • @slopat2503
      @slopat2503 2 місяці тому

      True, but Sainz is otherwise condemned to being a 2nd driver where ever he goes and Audi have won everywhere they went in motorsports. Were I him, I would take the shot.
      Easily said from my little desk of course. In any case, I hope he gets a shot as 1st driver in a good team which I don't see him getting anywhere but Audi unless Lance or Max retire.

    Is of special that Russell is on pace with Lewis?
    Alonso had the same amount of points as Lewis. Then Button won more points while being teammates with him.
    Kovalainen had no chance.
    Rosberg won a season.
    Then Bottas came in to restore the peace. As planned he never won.
    The year Russell joined he heats Lewis.
    Is that special? Only Kavalainen had no shot, Bottas was signed specifically to have a clear first and second driver hierarchy. Everyone else was able to compete with Lewis, everybody else was able to match his skills.
    It’s the other way around… If Russell was signed to be competitive and wouldn’t have a chance it would be a rare season in the career of Lewis.

      @@tyredf1pod True or not? Only Kovalainen and Bottas had no chance against Lewis so Russell having no chance would have been the surprise statistically.

    • @tyredf1pod
      @tyredf1pod  2 місяці тому +1

      I just want to understand - Hamilton went up against Alonso, Button and Rosberg for multiple seasons each and 2/3 of those drivers took one season off him and that is your argument to say he’s not that good?

    • @valkenburgert
      @valkenburgert 2 місяці тому

      @@tyredf1pod Yes, all those drivers has matched his skills indeed. This means the gap between the field and Lewis isn’t substantial in a way where he’s basically untouchable.
      That’s what is suggested when “it is special that Russell is on pace with Lewis”.
      Basically all teammates of Lewis has been on his pace. Yes, Lewis normally won but it has always been close (except Bottas and Kovalainen) so Russell being close to Lewis is more norm than exception. It should only been surprising to someone who thought Russell was comparable to Kovalainen and Bottas when it comes to driver quality.
      This doesn’t mean Lewis isn’t “that good”. It means Lewis struggles with drivers on the top end of the grid, and we will see that being confirmed with Leclerc.
      Top of the grid is still “good”. But far from exceptional.
      If Leclerc won't beat Lewis within two seasons he is going against the trend when you look at the data and include the fact that Bottas was signed to avoid a battle for team leader.
      Alonso drew points and thus was al the level of Lewis. Rosberg, Button and Russell beat Lewis. That is 4/4, not 2/3.
      Lastly: If I bring in data and you say “the data doesn’t support that” we reached a point that the burden of proof is with you. I think it’s not a pretty way of debating to overthrow data with a simple unsupported statement like that.

    • @tyredf1pod
      @tyredf1pod  2 місяці тому

      Interesting. I don’t think the data really backs that up.
      but even then, I’d argue all drivers would “struggle” with other drivers at the top end of the grid. That’s what makes those drivers special or difficult.
      Who for you IS a driver that is untouchable against another elite driver in the same machinery?

    Why is Lewis to Ferarri a no-brainer do you think Red Bull would dump any of their drivers for him
