Great commentary except for one part..The first one that was taken out wasn’t a butterfly valve. It was a gate valve. Butterflies are identifiable by the inside of the pipe and the offset valve nut.
That old Pipe Value was a GATE VALVE not a Butterfly Value......The RED PART on the New Pipe is BUTTERFLY Value..And on the Two ends of the New Pipe those things are Called DRESSER COUPLINGS....You slide the Dresser Coupling on the Pipe then put the Pipe in place then slide the coupling to the Center of the end of the Pipe...Then start tightening the bolts....The coupling is Tapered and has a Rubber Gasket in it....You just keep tightening it and the coupling will Squeeze the Rubber part Making a tight Seal..
Don't see any bends or fittings nearby...so, if you make oal of the valve and nipples as close as possible to the space you have....what can move?????.. if you fuck up ...use a spacer
it is a resilient wedge valve. Butterfly has nothing to do with orientation. It is a type of valve where the disc turns to open instead of rising out of the way into the hump.
According to American water that is the proper saw. They actually ban the use of a chop saw. While these chainsaws have their special uses I believe they are just as dangerous as a chop saw. Take it from someone who uses both,
Certain water company’s will not alow a demo saw at all not even on a cart to saw cut a road if its there job Ics saws are just as if not moor dangerous then a demo saw
Grew up near there and now doing a video on water utilities in St Louis. Nice job and nice video. (Have a drink for me at Ruddy’s)

Well that was a ton of fun
That was interesting. Indiana PA checking in
Good thing Hymax was there to save the day, we sure know the city couldn’t do anything
lol . . . omg!😀
City council waterworks crews have been doing this type repairing long before fucking contractors don't comment on stuff you know fuck all about
Collars of the pipe piece ends tighten by means of nut and bolts.
Proper alignment is needed to fix the coupling ends of the pipe piece.

We wrap the couplings with plastic sheeting to protect the gaskets from corrosion before backfilling
Ductile iron genius
How does the water stopper allow services not to be interrupted? There are services that are fed between the valves.
Try to keep alignment for neat job.
That's how it's done!!....good job by all
Ive never seen that style of sleeve before, is it retained on the DI nipple? Why not use megalugs or another mechanical joint style fitting?
See this video that explains the advantages of using this large diameter product - ua-cam.com/video/GY6_dFgk0lU/v-deo.html
Much easier to use 2 bolts to tighten, but yes it could slip.

Are you explaining this to 5th grader?
It’s a gate valve not butterfly!
jijiji kijiji No that’s a butterfly valve it’s a gate valve yes but when it’s on the side it’s a butterfly valve
What do you expect from Kevin Lynn?
