I always enjoy your videos. I am a one man show in a town in Texas with about 75 meter connections. I am trying to learn as much as I can so I can eventually do our own repairs. I always learn something each time I watch one of your videos. Do you ever make repairs on Transite pipe? I wish that TCEQ in Texas would make available training on distrubution system repairs but there doesn't seem to be much out there from TCEQ.Keep up the good work and keep those videos coming, they are appreciated more than you will ever know!
That hydraulic cutter sure makes a lot nicer cut than trying to use the gas chip saw. Wish I had one of those when I was working with distribution systems. Glad to see you and the crew again!
First off make more videos! Im on my first year at 25 years old and hope and pray I can do it forever!! Love watching & learning! But man that asphault is soft huh? Here where I am in nc we could never get away with not cutting control joints before digging the machine in, the whole road would peel up!!! Lol Keep working hard brothers
One thing we do when we are closing valves is paint an arrow on the ground with the direction we turned it to close it. Most of our valves are open left but there are a few open right too. Otherwise you can get confused if it’s open or closed, especially if you have a few that don’t work and have to close extra valves.
This is exactly how we do it sweden aswell (where i live) except we dig wider because of unstable materials and use a Stihl 440 to cut the pipe by hand.
How has that hydraulic pipe cutter worked for yous? Any issues you’ve had with it and does it cut all different sizes? That’s a pretty cool piece of equipment. Especially when you have a hole that’s difficult to work in and having to turn the hand saw upside down to get all the way around
They are expensive but work awesome. Cables are a little pricey as well but seem to last pretty good. This one will cut up to 8" and our bigger one will cut 16"
Hey Tim would you be able to do a video on how to dig a main break pretty much just like tips and tricks that you’ve learned throughout the years? I might be moving into a operator position sometime soon. There’s not many videos explaining the best ways to do it. Thanks.
Good job men! A new valve is like a Christmas present for us water guys lol
Welcome back Tim and the crew. I’ve missed your videos.
Thanks John! Been busy and little time to edit with all the daylight! Got some more to get out asap! Take care my friend!
@@TimMcArdle can’t wait. Thanks for making the videos

glad u r back brother
Your videos are so good! Thanks.
Glad to see the Video man. Im honored its dedicated to me haha.
Great video. Thank you
If you dig a sump hole next to the main you could have a clear field to do your connection and would not fill the new pipe with dirty water.
Cool video. What was that special saw you were using to cut the old pipe out?
Guillotine cutter. Uses a diamond cable to cut.
Amazing video, is interesting to see how crews do it in different countries, as in uk those jobs look very different
Another fine job done by the Taylorville water department.
every place i have woked used lubricant on seals,, and dose your area not require compaction????
Good stuff. I remember one hydrant job I did as a Jr. Mech. The lead Mechanic installed check valve backwards, oops.

Love the Ghost Busters logo @ 16:50

Nice video, so what did you use to cut the old valve out, is it easier than chop saw?
That's a guillotine cutter. Very nice but they're pricey.

I'll see what I can come up with. You just gotta remember, you can't hurt a pipe that's already broken. Lol
but you can make your work lot harder@@TimMcArdle
what type of couplers were used for the over sized ductile?
They are romagrip connectors. Nice to work with.
Good job guys 👍
What is the Guilatine that you cut the main with?
It's a Wachs. I have another older video of our bigger one that cuts up to 16". This I believe is good to 8".
@@TimMcArdle Thank you
Nice professional job guys I’d like to guess what those three or four pieces cost anybody have any idea?
Not sure honestly. I'll have to look into that. I know those connectors are a little pricey but well worth it.
Thanks for sharing
That 4 inch oversized is a pain.
Finally!!!!!!
that piece of ductile going into the valve wasn’t anywhere near being home 😅
It doesn't go in very far, mega lug
It was bottomed out. It wasn't cut straight at all but it was bottomed out.
i know it won’t leak cause of the mega locks and kickers but i’m used to never being allowed more than a half inch gap all around haha
Yeah that cut was a mess. All good!
street saw !!
Not in an alley.
It's cheating to turn the water off -- live is so much more adventurous
Lol, no doubt!
Fix your bucket…. Looks like it’s going to fall off 😂
She's well worn.. that's a backup machine now.
