  • Today I show you how to perform a B0 service on your Mercedes W212 E550, E350, or other Mercedes model that is asking for the B0 or BO service. A dealer will charge anywhere from $600-1,000 for this service, save yourself some money by doing it yourself with this quick, easy guide.
    A B0 service is essentially an oil change, cabin air filter change, and a brake fluid flush. The oil change and cabin are filter change are very quick and easy, and the brake fluid flush can be quick and easy as well with the right tools. All the tools and necessary supplies are linked below.
    Hope this helps you maintain your Mercedes W212 E550 the way it should be and save some big money at the same time!

    I like the video and Bucks comment. However, for oil changes, I much rather remove the engine underbody cover and drain the oil.

    Did the Brake Fluid order wrong. Need to do the wheel furtherest away from the brake master cylinder.

    Even if you suck all the oil out from the dipstick with a pump, it doesn’t remove old oil completely, because if you remove the drain plug you will see that there will be about a quart of old oil left, it’s better to drain it from the drain plug

    A quick note, brake bleeding is done on the rear passenger side, and then on the front passenger side.

      Good point. I did see some instruction saying that after I did the job. Will have to try that next time and see if I get better results.

    Thanks for the great content. I’m curious have you had to do anything with your headlights on the E550? I have a ‘14 and the headlights have all tracking and sensing features and I’m finding out they are quite pricey. Not sure what additional parts may also need to be replaced. Thanks in advance for your response.

      Hi Chris. Mine do turn with the steering wheel and then also have a bulb that lights the corner when you turn the wheel at slow speeds. No issues thus far with mine so I don't have any experience fixing them.

    I just don't understand why my 2013 E 350 hood isn't capable of vertical. Sucks!

    • @bucksgarage
      @bucksgarage  2 роки тому +1

      Really? That is surprising to me considering my 2000, 2003, and this 2012 Merc all do it. The E550 doesn't have the old style latch you have to move to get it up there, I just push it further and up it goes.

    Love this model, just not the camshaft issues. If you catch them quickly enough (most of the time they a throw an error code), you can get away with a 3k repair if you're smart about who you work with. Heck you can do it yourself and foot nothing but the parts but it's a bear of a task. I've seen folks ignore the issues, and tbh the vast majority keep trucking without so much as a startup rattle from time to time, but when things go bad, they go real bad. My advice would be just to be attentive, and somewhat vigilant about any timing codes.

      Bought this one with 94k on the clock, close to 130k now and no codes so far. Hoping it keeps on as it has. Coming from BMW, this car has been much more reliable!

    Nice channel! I paid about 250 $ for my last service at an Autoshop who always fix my car, it was a small service but I think the price is ok, they are only using MB-Original parts, and the oil that I always use is Liqui Moly, my W212 200 diesel runs very soft an nice with this oil, so I keep using that one. I Also changed the Halogen Bulbs H7 for the low beam, about 20 $ for both.

    I'll second many of the comments here. You really want to do the oil from under the car. It drains more junk (if there is any), but maybe more importantly, it gives you a chance to actually inspect things underneath. You would normally inspect for oil, coolant, axle or other leaks and just make sure everything is good to go. Can't do that from above. Even if the dealer does the oil extraction, they are going to put the car on the lift and inspect.

    Hi Buck, can the suspension on an E350 work for a E550 ?

    • @bucksgarage
      @bucksgarage  2 роки тому

      I don’t believe the 350 comes with Airmatic on these W212’s. So I’m not sure the suspension would be swapable between the two.
